One week after Belle Snow returned to Thomas’s room to retrieve her bra—and after he had firmly decided to dosticate her—he spent his days completing main and side missions without fail, day after day, studying and learning more about how his system worked.
He still hadn’t managed to fully understand how dostication functioned, despite actively looking into it, until the ninth day, when all those answers revealed themselves at once, accompanied by a cheerful chi.

’So much stuff on the screen...’
He navigated through the interface and entered the shop, the place he’d been most curious about for a while. Once inside, one of the items had a "new" icon next to it. He tapped on it, and a larger screen opened up.
[Basic Entity Scanner]
•Allows the user to view a heroine’s Class, Gift, Rank (F–SSS), and Rarity (SR/SSR/UR).
(Does not display skills yet.)
"Finally!" he exclaid.
Everyone around him turned to look. Thomas felt awkward and kept walking, covering part of his face. At that mont, he was heading ho at sunset after finishing his new job.
’Finally, sothing related to Dostication! I thought I’d never figure this out.’
Looking at the item’s cost with his gray eyes, he noticed it used the sa currency he’d been receiving from his daily missions.
’So this is what they were for... but in nine days, I didn’t get that many, did I? Is there another way to earn them? Well, at least I can afford this.’
When he confird the purchase, his eyes widened in surprise as the item materialized in front of him, wrapped in a light blue glow. As it fully ford, it made a soft "puff" sound, and he caught it with his hands.
’Whoa... this feels way too real. It’s like a video ga, but... too real. Does the color of that light have sothing to do with the item’s rarity?’
The Entity Scanner was a pair of thick, white goggles. Thomas put them on and began looking around. Next to each person, glowing letters of different colors appeared, sothing that beca easy to understand once he observed the crowds.
’The color matches the rarity... let’s see... white for Rank F and E, green for Rank D, and... blue for Rank C. No one really stands out here... huh? That girl—why are her letters blue if she’s Rank E? Is it because of... SSR rarity? Can a Rank E really stand out more than a Rank C? Rarity matters...’
Thomas removed the visor and looked directly at the girl. From her school uniform, he could tell she was around sixteen years old. She was underage—but valuable to his system.
’Now that I think about it... how much morality will I really have using this power? It doesn’t seem to limit as long as I don’t ss up like I did with Belle. But if no one stops from doing whatever I want, sooner or later I’ll do sothing seriously immoral. Maybe if I lived alone, I wouldn’t care... but what if I ended up in prison? What if I made a mistake that put my sister in danger? Maybe I should set my own rules... or... just plan my decisions more carefully.’
He rested his hand on his chin while watching the sa girl. She was walking alone after a school day. Thomas put the Entity Scanner back on and checked her status, displayed in blue letters.

Na: ¿?
Gift: Probability Invoice
Rarity: SSR
Rank: E
Class: ALTERER
Skills: NOT AVAILABLE
’An Alterer. I need Synchronization to dosticate them. From what I understand, there are three thods: contract-based, nurturing, and by force. Of course, the odds and thods differ—and I decide how to do it.’
Opening his status window, he confird that his Synchronization attribute was at eight. Then he opened the shop again as he began following the girl.
’Because of my mistakes with Belle, my Reputation stat is in the negatives. That affects how people see and perceive —I realized that while doing my daily missions. And at least for now, I don’t have anything I could offer her in a contract, so she’d refuse. Which ans... I might have to force her into dostication.’
Inside the shop, he purchased an item he’d noticed a long ti ago. Everything seed to influence his system and its functions in so way.

’This system is... terrifyingly dangerous.’
