The High Eunuch: "What brings the Duke and the Generals before the King?"

Cladded in his official attire, with the only thing missing being his full armor as it was a eting with the King, not a war eting, General Roah stepped forward from the side he stood to face the King, his face shone with determination as each step he took wore firmness. His green tailored attire that reflected his military role – General of The Erald army, accentuated to his imposing figure, he was a stout man, with a firm jawline that had dark beards to commorate them, he was in his mid-forties.

"Your Majesty" He began, his voice steady and confident. " We’ve co with news from beyond the borders, there’s been a dire change in the climatic condition"

As court proceedings go, now would be when the King askes what sort? and have him explain more, but the room was t with silence.

The King’s eyes were perfectly open, and were clearly looking at him, his hands still supporting his chin, not that he was asleep or anything, cause those eyes gave off nothing similar to sleeping, and when has it ever been heard that the King took a nap on his throne in his court room.

Seeing as the King was silent, the room beca tensed, leaving everyone on edge. Their gazes turned to him, including the Queen’s, looking earnestly for any form of relieve, but he had no reaction, just sitting there – distant.

Breaking the silence, was the voice of the High Eunuch, years of experience in the King’s court had built him for such monts as this, not that such exact monts had ever existed, but what would mother life be if not a shocker and player? Besides it was part of his role as High Eunuch to the King.

"And why would the General bother the King with a climate change, has it also beco of the general’s office to bring reports of the weather to the King way off from the borders? Does the Generals have that much tis on their hands to bring such news themselves and have the King attend a court eting?" His voice was calm, as his expression remained passive, as if everything was but scripted.

Taking the initiative to respond, dressed also in his exquisite attire, of blue coloring, depicting his military role as General of Sapphire army, General Linh stepped forward, his hands on his chest as he bowed to the King before averting his gaze to the High Eunuch.

"By implying we have much ti on our hands, does the High Eunuch an we should keep our selves busy with a war to make our ti fit our roles?"

The hands of the High Eunuch remained crossed as his voice and deanor remained the sa – passive.

"I’m sure the office of General, has much than wars to it, and I’m sure you know what I an, General"

"I’m sure the general ant it was dire enough to warrant the King’s attention." General Toah spoke forward, his voice calm and respectful.

Though Linh was a tall and imposing figure, he sotis left his thinking with those blessed to be closer to the ground, he definitely was not ant for strategic talks. The High Eunuch spoke on the King’s behalf, and seeing as the King had no objection or reaction to his words, it ant it was as good as it being the King’s words, besides, everyone knows the position of the High Eunuchs especially within the palace. Couldn’t he just let the small talks fly pass?

Besides, the way the matter was reported really looked like a weather report, thus, who wouldn’t react like the High Eunuch?

Linh was just an impulsive hot head, who basically lived by and for fighting and made little effort towards court talks, and preferred the King’s fight grounds, but this wasn’t a fight ground, at least not that sort, also the King didn’t look like he was in for anything similar. If only the Sapphire battalion would add ’reading the room’, to their training regi.

"If it would please his Majesty, I would add to the report" General Toah added, and like the other generals, he had his attire on – a brown official robe, as General of the Jasper army.

General Toah had a round figure, with a well fleshed pod belly, a man in his Mid-forties, and close to the earth with his delicate height.

The High Eunuch nodded in a very slight bow, his hand gesturing a continual

"Of course General"

"Reporting to his Majesty.

It’s been noticed that the lands over the horizon due North and East have no night"

The eyes of it the High Eunuch narrowed in confusion, piquing his interest, the queen’s also.

General Toah continued " A fortnite ago, the Jasper army noticed an anomaly over the horizon due East. During the nights, the sun over there didn’t seem to set, it seed to be in a noon-like state all day, as this could not be called normal, we sent out scouts. This anomaly seed even stronger due North."

General Roah nodded " The Erald army, got wind of this a month ago, and thought it only a disturbance of so sort, that might have been caused due to the Die Land, only changing our narrative when we got reports that this spread could be observed even way over from the Sapphire army region and even more so to the Jasper army region"

The brows of the High Eunuch furrowed as his eyes narrowed as he asked " So the horizons from the north straight through to the east are covered in sunlight?"

This ti General Linh nodded with a smirk, his voice almost certainly laced with contempt" Down to the East-southeast to be precise"

General Toah shot him an angled eye, of course why not point that out. Narrowing his eyes back to the High Eunuch he continued

"It seems to be spreading, gradually, and at a large scale, we believe it might cover the entire horizon from the north to south"

"Does this pose a threat to us, Generals?"

The faces of the generals fell, etched with disappointnt, except General Linh who still had the look of contempt. General Roah sighed heavily as his bulky shoulders slumped "We could not get any proper information, as we couldn’t scout pass the Die Land."

"But we only have patches" General Toah added

The eyes of the High Eunuch narrowed in contemplation

"Patches, General?"

General Toah aningfully glanced at general Linh, imploring he speak. This part was from his scouts.

Taking a deep sigh, he gave his report" During our joint scout, a report ca in from Nohak, captain of my Sapphire Battalion’s scout, it’s not enough to make a full report on, but using the power of his bloodline, he could tell that over the horizon even though feint, they were lurking numbers of unknown origin. Due of the nature of the Die Land eating up anything that steps Into it, we could not get more to work with aside all this..." he paused in his report for General Toah to finish.

"...we have reasons to believe, Mystic beings might be involved" General Toah said plainly without batting an eye

The eyes of those in the court room widened in shock

"Mystic beings?" the High Eunuch asked, his voice laced with unbelief. Mystic beings weren’t found on the streets, they were as rare as they were power toppling, one could ask the King if they felt otherwise. He would know.

The generals nodded in unison.

"That’s why we’ve co to his Majesty"

Everyone’s gazes fell back to his Majesty the King, who throughout the entire conversation had remained as when they stepped in, dampt and unresponsive, with his hands still supporting his chin and his gaze fierce and blazing.

Once again silence was the only sound swimming through the atmosphere.

The eyes of the queen narrowed as her brows furrowed in concern, the King was only ever this distant when aura farming, but his eyes begged to differ, and this got her even more worried.

Breaking the silence was the King’s voice, nacing and laced with authority

"Give my Decree" He stood from his seat, standing tall, his voice firm enough, and his face devoid of any expression.

"The Kingdom would observe the mourning for a fortnite, and every official be present for the funeral"

While dropping this words as if they were supposed to make sense, he began making his way down his throne step by step, heading out the door...

The faces of those present were cornered into confusion, as they exchanged confused glances, even the Queen was left puzzled... It was enough that the King was acting strange, but what did he an by funeral, what funeral?

Stopping just before the imposingly massive doors, the King halted in his steps

"The King’s father is dead"

At the drop of his words, the wave of shock swept through everyone present, leaving them stunned and eye widened.

Without turning his back, the King exited the halls.

Snapping out of the shock of the King’s words, in a series of swift movents the Queen got up her seat and hurried down the steps, in pursuit of the King.

Getting out the door, and through the palace courtyard, she could not get a sight or hold of him.

Making her way to the one place she suspected him to be – their bed chambers, she pushed it open to find her King, standing still, facing the blank wall, only turning at the sound of the opened doors.

She stared into his eyes, as she began closing their distance, and like a wave of cold sea water, she could feel his sadness as she got closer to his face. Once she got close enough, he fell on her shoulders having her hold him tightly, and like a gushing spring, the tears built up in his eyes all this while, began running free.
