Derrick stared at the obstacles in front of him and frowned. "Are these supposed to be the training I’m to do? Don’t tell that Severin had been scamd?"

He was standing on a narrow stone edge that could barely allow him to take a step forward before he fell to the dark abyss below.

But that wasn’t all.

Derrick could see the other edge of a stone a few ters in front of him. But the thing was, between the two edges were wires. Thin ropes that connected the two, crisscrossing all over.

Just two ropes.

Derrick didn’t have to be told to know that he had to cross it by walking on the two ropes. He frowned tightly. "This doesn’t look difficult."

Since Severin had highlighted his lack of flexibility, he had started training, and the instructor Ardent had personally focused on that during their training days.

He used his legs to test the ropes and found out that they were firm. He took a step forward and slid onto the ropes.

Crack.

He froze imdiately.

The stone edge he stood on previously crumbled and fell into the empty darkness below. The ropes hung where they were as if held by invisible hands.

Derrick swallowed.

Then he began to move forward, one step at a ti.

The training he had done previously proved useful as he walked steadily over without any incidents. And after the first few steps, he gained more confidence and quickly walked the rest of the way over.

He breathed a sigh of relief when he touched the solid rock with his feet. "So... the first part is done? At this rate, I’ll be the first to finish this training."

He looked in front of him and he saw the sa two ropes again and another small rock jutting out of the ground.

"The sa thing?"

Without hesitation, he walked over, and this ti he didn’t care when the previous stone fell to the darkness below. He walked on one of the ropes, one step in front of the other.

But then he suddenly paused, his eyes widened, and he bent low, fast!

Just in ti too, sothing cold passed through where his head was supposed to be.

He cursed as he slipped, but he grabbed one of the ropes just in ti and swung over. His heart was beating fast.

That was terribly close.

"What the hell. So there’s sothing like this waiting for ?" Derrick beca more cautious as he walked forward.

The fact that Miret ntioned that they could get injured ant that the training wouldn’t hesitate to hurt him. And he wasn’t in the mood to find out what would happen if that arrow-like sothing pierced his head or if he should fall into the darkness below.

This ti he didn’t rush and took each step slow and steady. He had to dodge to the second rope, and then back again like four tis.

He understood why there were two ropes.

At least he reached the second stone edge. He took a deep breath and a line of sweat appeared on his forehead. "That was harder than the first one."

He saw another two ropes in front of him and a stone edge in the distance. "Is this how it’s going to be? Getting more and more difficult as ti goes on?"

He didn’t get an answer.

He began to walk on the rope, a bit tense this ti because he didn’t know what was coming for him. His eyes were narrowed as he watched, waiting for what was going to happen next.

He hadn’t taken more than a few steps when he stiffened. He saw sothing in the middle of the ropes. The two ropes. It was a small shape covered in a dark shroud of darkness.

They seed to be birds with the way their beaks glinted and their feathers shuddered on them.

Derrick narrowed his eyes on them. "So they finally show a real challenge?"

His body was instantly covered in red light. The light flowed above his body, infusing him in thin layers of strength. "I’m assuming I’m supposed to fight you while I keep myself from falling to the darkness below."

He was walking on the right rope and the monster bird there shook itself and spread its wings. It stood, long legs ending in sharp claws.

Beady eyes looked at him.

Derrick smirked, but there was only coldness in his eyes, the amusent long gone. "Ah... fuck. This is going to be difficult."

The bird surged forward.

When Ethan appeared in the Etherion space, he found himself by a riverbank. He stood there and stared at the river. It was white, clear water, and he saw the bottom and the colorful pebbles.

He looked around.

He was in a forest. "So this is the training place. It doesn’t look that bad. Maybe I’ll be able to see the others?"

He stood there and waited for sothing to happen, but there was nothing. It was then that he realized that there was no sound. Not even winds stirred the trees.

The only thing moving was the ripple atop the river.

Ethan frowned, and he felt as if he was in a picture, painted to hang still, but sohow he was in it.

"Hey! Is there anyone here?" he shouted, but his voice didn’t go far. In fact, his voice seed to be rebounded back to him. He looked around him carefully.

"What is wrong with this place?"

Ethan turned to the tree and walked a few steps towards the nearest one. He stood there, reached out, and touched one of the trees.

"It felt real. But... I still don’t get what I’m supposed to be doing here."

Ethan rolled his shoulder and turned to the tree. "Maybe there’s sothing in the forest. Maybe I’m ant to hunt sothing?"

But he hadn’t taken more than a few steps when he ca to a pause and he turned to the river.

He heard a splash earlier, but when he looked back, everything was just as it was.

Ethan narrowed his eyes.
