The reason why Shawn decided to leave Leo and his group was that Shawn thought that his second talent was the reason Leo and his group were continuously encountering near-death situations.
Therefore, he left them and swore to return to them only when he figured out his second talent.
Since Leo had a city and was planning to bring Shawn to it, he asked Shawn about it because if Shawn didn't figure out his talent, then he would decline his invitation to the Golden Hawk City.
