Chapter 329: Chapter 324: Too Busy to Rember Things
Tassera was now in the Alchemy Room helping him keep an eye on Anglistra, so he didn’t have to worry about the elixir for the mont. Leon had plenty of ti, dragging things out without urging the Kraken, letting it think carefully.
The Kraken did not want to die. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have decisively abandoned its lair of countless years and fled when it realized it couldn’t defeat Leon, even escaping from the North Sea to the far-off Flash Sea—a journey that took over half a month.
After about ten minutes, the Kraken laboriously lifted its head, gazing at Leon, and used telepathy: “If I promise you, will you let go?”
“Is that agreent?” Leon smiled. “Good, those who adapt to circumstances are the wise.”
“As for when you can leave…” Leon’s eyes swept over the Kraken. “After I dig out your heart… The Kraken has four hearts; as long as I don’t take them all out, you won’t die. Then, I’ll drain just a little blood.”
“I have no way to resist you now, do I?” The Kraken panted heavily. “Do what you will, then let go.”
“After losing the extra hearts and blood, you’ll enter a weakened state. I’ll allow you to stay here and provide enough food for you,” Leon said. “As you can see, I’m a rciful person.”
“No need.” The Kraken only wanted to leave now.
Leon understood the Kraken’s sentints and didn’t delay in extracting the Kraken’s Heart. One of its hearts had stopped beating during their recent battle, so he harvested two Kraken Hearts and drained so of its blood.
Leon had already planned to harvest the Kraken once or twice every year, depending on the situation.
His reasoning was simple: the Kraken’s regenerative abilities were exceedingly strong. Any destroyed heart would regenerate in less than a year—maybe even within a week. Besides, aged treasures are always more valued; aged wine, aged ginseng—they have better efficacy. The sa must hold true for the Kraken’s Heart.
Two Kraken Hearts, and barrels upon barrels of Kraken’s Blood—Leon felt that killing the Kraken outright wouldn’t yield better rewards than this. Finally, he had Fiora escort the Kraken away.
Leon wasn’t worried about the Kraken encountering attacks on its way. Even with three fewer hearts and a significant loss of blood, a weakened Kraken was still not one to be trifled with. Instead, he sent Fiora to inform the Kraken of his rules, ensuring they avoided unpleasantness and taking note of the Kraken’s lair.
Just noting its location—Leon didn’t intend to seize the treasures in the lair. Despite the Kraken’s recent attacks on ships certainly having netted it considerable loot—the stash most likely containing tens of thousands of Gold Coin—he felt it necessary to leave the Kraken so hope.
The Kraken was a colossal monster of unparalleled destruction. When it landed on Volcanic Island, within less than half an hour, it obliterated countless structures. These buildings now awaited reconstruction, but the Brass Dragon Engineering Minister would be tied up, not only building governnt offices but also Edwin’s research facilities, leaving little ti.
The Efreeti fared poorly against the Kraken, and the Salamanders fared even worse. The Salamanders were by no ans disposable like goblins or kobolds—in fact, they warranted imdiate rescue.
Rewards for rits, penalties for faults—recording achievents was an important matter.
After tossing all the scattered, chaotic responsibilities to Cecilia, Leon returned to the Alchemy Room. Nothing was more important to him than alchemy.
While Leon focused single-mindedly on his alchemical endeavors, Fiora escorted the Kraken back to its lair, situated in the Dark Deep Sea, not far from Volcanic Island.
Near the Kraken’s lair lived nurous Sahuagin, serving the moody Kraken. Seeing the Bronze Dragon seemingly escorting the visibly injured Kraken—with only two tentacles remaining out of its original ten—the Sahuagin were instantly intrigued.
The four-ard Sahuagin Baron, currently admiring his stolen spoils, was dumbstruck upon hearing hurried reports from the returning Sahuagin.
“What did you say? Repeat that?”
“The Kraken was badly injured?”
“It was escorted back to the lair by a Bronze Dragon?”
Despite its unmatched power and formidable Spiritual Energy, the newly arrived Kraken had yet to fully capture the allegiance of the Sahuagin, who worshiped Shark God Sekola.
The sudden news of the Kraken’s severe injuries left the Sahuagin Baron with no intention of rallying troops to assist it.
“Who could wound the Kraken? That Bronze Dragon definitely couldn’t have done it—it must have been the Red Dragon,” the Sahuagin Baron muttered to himself. “We thought we didn’t need to worry with the Kraken to contend with the Red Dragon—turns out the Kraken isn’t even a match for it. Is the Red Dragon truly so powerful?”
Only recognized Sahuagin females were qualified to channel Sekola’s Divine Power, granting imnse influence to female Sahuagin priests. One such priest comnted: “Had it not been reported, the Kraken suddenly abandoned attacking ships and headed straight toward Watchtower Port, the Volcanic Island of the Red Dragon.”
“The Kraken could only lose to the Red Dragon on land,” affird the female priest. “We need not fear the Red Dragon too much.”
“What about the Bronze Dragon?” the Sahuagin Baron queried.
“Unknown,” the female priest replied, shaking her head. “There’s no point guessing here. We should send scouts to Watchtower Port and Volcanic Island to probe the Red Dragon’s situation and test the Kraken.”
The Sahuagin Baron supported the priest’s suggestion and entrusted her with the task.
“?” The female priest hesitated but couldn’t refuse.
Three days later, the Baron finally received news of the Red Dragon. Volcanic Island had suffered significant damage, and the Red Dragon hadn’t appeared for nearly a month. Everyone else seed normal, but the Kraken had killed and devoured all Sahuagin who dared to test it, including the priest.
The Baron remained clueless about the events but picked up on the ominous vibe. After another half month of silence, nothing happened.
The Kraken curled up in its Dark Deep Sea lair, recuperating—hunting sperm whales and sharks but staying low. anwhile, the Red Dragon remained unseen, while the Blue Dragon, Green Dragon, and Bronze Dragon perford their duties as usual.
A month passed without incident. The Sahuagin Baron felt the storm had blown over, and now, Leon finally succeeded in refining the Heavenly Immortal Pill—a Taiyi Small Rejuvenation Pill, capable of boosting his mana.
With two Kraken Hearts and barrels of Kraken Blood freshly acquired, Leon decided to refine another Heavenly Immortal Pill—this ti a Nine Revolutions Small Rejuvenation Pill, intended to enhance vigor and strength. The Kraken’s Heart and Blood were more suitable for crafting pills that boosted vitality and constitution, but Leon repurposed them.
After ingesting two Heavenly Immortal Pills, Leon imdiately sensed his strength increasing significantly. However, raising his challenge level further was still imnsely difficult—his current level was extraordinarily high, making incrental improvent a daunting task.
After working diligently for nearly four months, Leon intended to rest for half a month or a full month unless sothing urgent arose.
A month passed. Feeling refreshed, Leon decided to start working again, but he montarily struggled to recall what he had planned to do next.
