Reagan’s face paled slightly, his brows furrowed with confusion as he stared at . "What did you just say?"

"Oh don’t pretend like you didn’t hear and don’t pretend like this isn’t your fault." I scoffed at him in disbelief.

The look of confusion on Reagan’s face imdiately vanished replaced with a look of frustration on his face. His jaw tightened as he glared at in response, "How is that my fault?"

"Perhaps if you hadn’t been so quick to act in your anger and instate Celeste as your concubine then maybe this wouldn’t have happened!"

"And who said I was acting on my anger? I wanted Celeste as my concubine!" Reagan yelled at and I had to blink a little at the sudden hurt that I was feeling inside. "It’s a thought I’ve been taking about for a while now, this has nothing to do with my anger." Reagan stated.

I paused for a minute, staring at him trying to see if he was telling the truth or just saying more things to hurt but Reagan just continued to stare at , his expression firm and unwavering.

I drew in a breath and straightened, "Well, my father is displeased with your actions, and now he wants to kill Celeste!"

"And what did you say?" Reagan asked glancing at .

I arched a brow up at him, "What did you think? I said no, of course but he made it very clear that wasn’t an option."

"Fuck!" Reagan cursed out, the frustration evident in his tone, "You can’t kill Celeste!"

"Do you think I want to?" I retorted, "My father practically gave no choice at all, it’s either I kill Celeste or I beco of no use to him!"

"Of no use to him? What do you an by that?"

I heaved out a sigh and brushed past Reagan. I moved to go and seat on the bed, because I needed to be comfortable enough for what I am about to say. Fisting my hands on my gown and drew in a deep breath.

"When I got married to you, I had a duty, a mission." I said glancing up at Reagan, "The mission was to make you fall in love with ." I confessed.

"Make in love with you?"

I snorted in response. "Yeah, I know how impossible it is. You hated my guts from the wedding, it was everything I did was repulsive to you and then you brought ho Celeste which didn’t make him happy as you witnessed." I said glancing up at him to see if he still rembered that night.

A quick notice of the way his jaw tensed told he did so which made continue, "I failed in my duty and since I can’t do that, I will just have to get rid of the competition."

"So is that what you’ve been doing?" Reagan suddenly asked and I looked up only to find him glaring at , "All those monts we had was just you manipulating ?"

I gaped at him surprised he was going to think my feelings for him wasn’t real. "Of course not! All those monts I had with you was real at least for , it was." I said looking at him, hoping he could see my sincerity in them.

But Reagan turned away from , "That still doesn’t explain everything at all, you went along with your father’s plan? You were still trying to get to fall in love with you, so you could manipulate !"

"I wasn’t manipulating you, I just never had a choice!" I yelled at him, "I am just a pawn in all of these, the mont I step out of place, I beco replaceable!"

Reagan snorted at in response, "So what happens when that happens? When I fall in love with you? I beco loyal to you but really it’s him I’m more loyal to by extension. By gods, your father is really sick in the head."

Don’t need you to tell that twice, I figured out the man was sick in the head when he asked to murder soone like he was discussing flowering arrangents with ! I thought to myself before heaving out a sigh. "So what do we do now?" I asked Reagan, my voice soft and tired.

"We?" Reagan asked turning slowly to look at , "There is no we! There is just you and there is just . I don’t care if you are a pawn but point is if you weren’t you could never make love you!" Reagan said his voice starting to get cold by the second. He stepped forward, coming towards in slow strides.

I stood rooted to my spot resisting the urge to get up and run away. I didn’t like this side of Reagan. I’ve known Reagan to always be cold to , not give the ti of the day. But looking at him now, this side of him was scary. He seed colder and he seed detached, a little bit disgusted even.

Sniffing, I blinked furiously, an attempt to hide the tears gathering in my eyes. "Reagan_" I started, hating the way my voice was thick with emotions, "Reagan, look I..."

"Do you even know what disgusts the most?" Reagan asked , "It’s not the fact that I was forced to marry you, it’s the fact that you think you could ever make love you!" Reagan hissed, leaning down to look at .

Reagan’s words cut deep but they also sparked sothing within , anger. With a growl, I shoved Reagan away from . "Oh believe I know I can never make you love , trust I am learning it the hard way and I never wanted to manipulate, I did everything because I didn’t have a choice!"

"Oh, that again?"

"Yes!" I yelled at Reagan, "Till you get it into your fucking thick skull that I actually do not!" I stepped towards him jabbing my finger in his chest as I spoke, "I do not have a choice and I still do not, you do not want to hear my side of the story and that’s fine with , I do not feel like getting into that and please do not pretend like you don’t have secrets of your own."

Reagan’s nostrils flared in anger. "What secrets?"

"Oh you know what I am talking about." I said with a smirk as I watched Reagan’s gaze continue to darken in anger, "We’ve all got secrets, so just hide it better than others and so are unfortunate for it to get exposed at the worst possible tis." I let my words linger for a mont while still maintaining eye contact with him.

Reagan drew in a deep breath as he stepped closer towards while controlling his expression but his shoulders expressed tension and his fingers fought twitched beside him. Drawing a deep breath, Reagan opened his eyes and stared at . "So, what do you suggest we do?"

"Now we are getting sowhere." I said with a pleased smile on my face to which Reagan growled at. Still smiling, I turned away from him, "Well you are right about one thing, there’s no us and there never will be but if we don’t work together to play the old fool, then there will be a great disaster."

"What’s the plan?" Reagan asked , a slight impatience to his tone.

I smiled even wider at that, "We can play pretend, pretend we are in love." I said and I watched the way Reagan’s frown deepened, "We have to act like we are dancing to the old man’s tune. Act like you are completely fascinated with , smitten with ."

"That’s it, that’s your great plan?"

"Well it surely beats nothing." I snapped at him, "You know my father, you know he is never going to stop. If I don’t kill Celeste, he will just find so other way to do it and get you to be more loyal to him. So you pretend to keep happy and my father will automatically back, now what do you say?"

Reagan gazed at before he sighed exasperatedly, "This is fucking ridiculous!"

"Believe I agree, but unfortunately it’s the only way." I said with a shrug, "Unless of course you have another way? One that doesn’t involve becoming a murderer or you becoming my father’s puppet? Then please let’s hear it." I inford him.

"You do know this isn’t going to end well, for either of us at least?"

"It’s not like it was getting any better in the beginning." I retorted with a shrug.

Reagan remained still, staring at and I could see the ntal battle he was having in his head. "Damn it, Dahlia!"

I smirked in response knowing I finally got his response.

It wasn’t a yes but it wasn’t a rejection either!

And for now that was more than enough!
