Chapter 60
Reagan stood there, not saying anything and I ntally willed him to even though he wasn’t looking at but still, I pleaded with him even as a sickening weight began to settle in my chest.
Please, please, please, say sothing! Say it isn’t so, say it isn’t true, say you haven’t given up on yet, say you haven’t given up on us!
I ntally willed as I stared at Reagan, searching his face for any indication that Killian was lying, that I took the situation badly.
Reagan wouldn’t do that to ! He doesn’t like Celeste, he hasn’t been with her, he was only with her because he didn’t know then.
But he didn’t even still know you, you kept that secret from him rember? A tiny voice whispered in my mind, the tone malicious and cruel.
Except it wasn’t the sa! This was different and I was going to tell him soon, there just wasn’t enough ti with Killian’s arrival, us getting lost and my father summoning him!
This was different! What Reagan had done to was just betrayal and I thought, I thought...fuck so foolish part of had believed that we were in love.
Guess I was wrong!
"Is that true?" Bjorn asked in a deadly calm tone, a tone I knew all too well.
I glanced up only to see Bjorn looking at Reagan with a pissed look on my face that shows he was one minute away from beating Reagan up just like Killian had done.
Reagan slowly raised his gaze up to look at Bjorn and the hurt I felt was more than words could explain. He could look at my brother but he avoided confrontation when it ca to !
Bjorn took a step forward when he received no answer from Reagan. "I just asked you a question!" Bjorn’s voice was calm but there was a hint of anger beneath the surface. "Did you take a concubine after marrying my sister and did you just make it official too?"
Reagan still said nothing and that was when Bjorn flew up!
"When your prince ask you a question, you fucking answer!" Bjorn yelled out, losing his composure from the very first ti.
"Yes!" Reagan finally spoke.
Yes! All it took is one single word for my whole word to finally co crashing down. For a minute I couldn’t hear anything else other than the distant ringing in my ears.
The world around blurred. All noises including murmurs and sharp breathing and tense tension quickly disappeared from my awareness.
Yes!
The word echoed in my head over and over again, like the most painful form of mockery. He admitted it! It was official, Celeste had now beco his official concubine and , well, I was a fool!
I had been the biggest fool of them all!
I thought what we had and what we had shared was real, that he would never do this to , what a fool I was.
A fool to believe him, a fool to believe everything we shared was of importance to him, guess it was all finally over now!
Bjorn breathing heavily beside pulled out of my thoughts. I turned only to see him glaring at Reagan with a look of fury on his face.
"You_" Bjorn exhaled as he stepped forward, "You fucking bastard_" Reagan lunged forward prepared to hit him but I imdiately grabbed him by his hand.
"That’s enough!" I said still grabbing hold of Bjorn.
"How could you do this to her?" Bjorn yelled not looking at , "Do you have any idea what you’ve done? She was supposed to love you, she fell in love you, she was supposed to keep you, make you love her and she gave her all even though she didn’t want to and this is how you repay her, even when she is pre_"
"Okay that’s enough Bjorn!" I yelled at my brother causing him to swallow his words.
Bjorn’s gaze flicked to mine and that and I subtly shook my head at him. This wasn’t his news to tell! This was mine and I decide who gets to know.
Bjorn kept his much shut, though I could still see the anger that threatened to consu him. He clenched his fist at his sides. I could feel the tension that surrounded the air, threatening to press down on us.
I turned only to see Reagan gazing between and Bjorn but he didn’t say anything. He didn’t care to ask Bjorn what it was he wanted to say before I cut him off.
Swallowing, I turned fully to look at Killian. "I believe there are so things my husband and I need to discuss personally, but as of right now, this conversation is over!" I stated firmly.
I saw sothing akin to regret in Killian’s gaze but he didn’t say anything. Reagan turned to look at just then, he opened his mouth about to say sothing but we were suddenly interrupted.
"Your highness!"
I turned only to find Madam Heidi at the entrance, bowing her head at Bjorn.
"You may speak." He said acknowledging her.
Madam Heidi smiled tightly at that, "His majesty has requested to speak to the princess!" She said her gaze falling to mine.
The mont she said that my heart skipped a beat but I didn’t let my emotions show.
"What for?" Bjorn asked suddenly getting defensive, an expression he rarely shows and Madam Heidi arched a brow up at that.
"He wanted to check in with the princess’s health of course." She replied tersely.
Bjorn snorted in response as he fixed Madam Heidi a pointed look, "He’s had days to check up on her but he didn’t and I’m aware of the fact you report every movent she makes to him!"
Oh Bjorn, what are you doing? I thought to myself as I stared at my brother.
Madam Heidi’s smirk only grew wider and I knew no doubt she would be reporting of Bjorn’s ’disrespect’ to my father.
"Forgive your highness but I am rely the ssenger, if you have any concerns then I suggest you take it up with his majesty!"
"Then maybe I wi_"
"I will go!" I suddenly spoke and all eyes fell to mine, "I suggest you lead the way Madam Heidi, you of all people know how much my father detest tardiness!"
Madam Heidi smiled at as if pleased with my answer. "Very well then, if you will follow !" She said and turned to leave.
I made a move to follow after her but Bjorn suddenly grabbed my wrist. "Want to co with you?"
Shaking my head I smiled at him, "You are probably in more trouble than I am." I said as a jest but Bjorn didn’t find it funny, "I will be okay, I promise."
"Are you sure?"
No, no, I am not! "I am." I said with a smile and before Bjorn could question it further, I turned and left, following after Madam Heidi while feeling pair of eyes burn into my back.
