REAGAN POV

Dahlia beca awfully quiet after her outburst back at the castle. Imdiately she stord off after snapping at Ivana, she entered the carriage and I led Ivana to another carriage which I requested from the castle and Nikolai and I rode on our horses deciding to give Dahlia so space. When we got back to the manor, she didn’t say anything either. She still remained quiet and I honestly don’t know what to say to her at this point. I could still feel the anger radiating off from her in waves and I know that when she gets like this it’s best if she was left alone.

Besides, ever since she got pregnant, her emotions have beco quite strong lately and in that mont I knew that it was best to leave her alone but that did not an I still wasn’t going to be keeping an eye on her.

Dahlia strode off to her house, slamming the door shut after her without so much as a backwards glance. Heather who had waited at the entrance to give her a warm welco turned to look at when Dahlia stord off inside. Eddie had led her away probably to go explain things to her while Nikolai stood beside and we both stared at the house, not sure what the next step was now.

"She’s mad as hell!"

"You think?" I retorted as I turned to give him a sideway glance.

Nikolai turned to look at . "Then you should go talk to her!"

I arched a brow up at him. "What part of her attitude gives off the impression that she is in the mood for a chat."

"You are her husband, you should go talk to her!" Nikolai said and I snorted at him in response.

"I think it’s best we just give her space." I said then turned to look away and head back inside the house.

"No way." Nikolai said and I turned to look at him only to find him watching with his arms folded across his chest, "Never in my life did I imagine I’d see the day you would beco scared, of a woman!"

Feigning ignorance, I folded my arms across my chest as I stared at Nikolai. "I haven’t the faintest idea what you an."

Except I do though, I wasn’t scared of Dahlia. Okay maybe I was a little but for good reason. I still stand by giving her ti to cool off. I an the woman just basically threatened her own father, those actions of her clearly bothered since I know Sigurd had now marked her for dead. But I didn’t think those were words she would like to hear at this mont.

"Right." Nikolai said while shooting a look that says he didn’t believe . "On a normal day, you know you would have charged in and demand that she tell you what is wrong and not leave till she does."

"Which is why I’m trying to better for her, learning to give her the space she wants."

"Yeah and I call bullshit." Nikolai retorted which made narrow my eyes at him. "You are scared Reagan. You scared the mont she goes in there she is going to turn on you because if I am to rember correctly she told you she wanted to do this alone and you disobeyed her."

There was no use lying to him so I shrugged and decided to just tell him the truth. "I am not scared, okay fine maybe I am a little bit wary but you know Dahlia sees this as betrayal and I’d rather not face her now."

Nikolai humd in response, looking at with a serious look. "Well you did do what you thought was best."

"Don’t think she will see that way." I responded with a sigh, "I an first I went against her wishes and then when she was threatening her father, I just stayed quiet and also bowed my goddamn head."

Nikolai humd again. "Now I see the whole issue here. But it wasn’t exactly your fault, you just can’t afford to be rash and hot tempered like her."

"Pretty sure I will be if anyone holds my sibling over my head and threaten with them." I said and Nikolai frowned before we turned to stare back at the house at the sa ti.

I have a good idea how Dahlia must be feeling right now. Scared, hopeless and hurt deeply. Her own sister had tried to kill her and I know the two of them are not that close but I know siblings are not ant to kill one another. The last ti I had seen Evie was at the wedding party and even then she had been hidden in the shadow, not even a single word had been said, not when she had been placed inside the carriage.

I had always thought she was a weird little girl even back then, but now it was clear sothing was wrong with her. The girl was small but damn if she wasn’t strong, stronger than an average sixteen year old. Her strength almost matches that of a man which wasn’t supposed to be possible. Sothing didn’t feel right with Evie.

Even staring at her, the fact that she had just stood right next to Sigurd like a damn puppet in waiting, it wasn’t right. It was almost as if she had no emotions of her own, I could see it in her eyes as Dahlia spoke to her but she had just stared back like she didn’t recognize her.

I turned to look at Nikolai. "I need you to look into sothing for ."

"What is it?"

I told Nikolai about what had happened and then everything I had noticed. When I finished Nikolai released a low whistle. "Now I always knew Sigurd to be one evil son of a bitch but that’s just crazy! So what are you saying that he manipulated her, or brainwashed her?"

"That’s what I’m thinking and I need you to look into it discreetly." I told Nikolai who nodded his head in agreent.

He heaved out a sigh as he stared back at the house, "Poor Dahlia, must be horrible to know you have a sick twisted son of a bitch as a father. But then I do support her motion to end him and maybe..." Nikolai paused and turned to look at , "Maybe this way we can finally use her hatred to our disadvantage."

I narrowed my eyes at him. "Whatever do you an by that?"

"I simply an now that we know which side she is, we can finally tell her about our..."

"No!" I shut down what I knew he was about to say imdiately. "There is no need!"

Nikolai groaned softly as he rolled his eyes, "Oh co on Reagan, after all these you’ve got to trust her enough to tell her! Don’t you think she can help us if we just tell her..."

"Nikolai I said no. She is not hearing about it and that’s final!"

"And what if she finds out about this?"

I swallowed tightly, my gaze on the house where I knew Dahlia was. Of course she was going to find out eventually but she didn’t need all of it right now. Not when she was barely holding on together and on the verge of going over the edge. I will tell her but only till I was certain that she could hold it altogether.

Nikolai scoffed softly. "You still don’t trust her. After all of these, you still don’t trust her, typical."

"It’s not that!" I snapped at him before I lowered my voice, "It’s not that I do not trust her, it’s that I am trying to keep her safe."

Nikolai snorted as she shook his head at . "Safe? That woman just stord into the castle and declared war on her father. Her father Reagan and you are really going to stand here and talk to about keeping her safe?" He asked as he stared at in disbelief, "You know what let ask you sothing, do you really think being ’safe’ is still considered an option?"

I opened my mouth to respond to him but no words ca out of my mouth of my answer. I couldn’t answer him because I wasn’t sure anymore.

Nikolai sighed siftly before he turned and walked away leaving alone. I stood outside the house for a minute before I decided to finally be brave and enter. Drawing in a deep breath, I walked up to the house and pushed open the door.

The sound of glass crunching beneath my boots as I entered filled my ears. All around were broken pieces of furniture and glassware. In the midst of it all was Dahlia who sat down, sobbing furiously. My heart broke as I watched her in that state, so without saying anything I reached for Dahlia and pulled her into my arms, holding her as she sobbed.
