The ride to the castle was spent in complete and utter isolation, not that I mind this ti around. I actually needed the silence, that way I was able to get complete relaxation and also hear my thoughts better. Every hour, I checked on the wound on my legs. Good news was that my legs had stopped bleeding and the skin was starting to stitch itself back up. It should heal completely after a week or two, all I have to do is just be careful.

I relaxed back against my seat, closing my eyes and I think I must have dozed off one ti because the next ti I woke up, it was with a thud right next to the carriage. My eyes opened and I looked around wondering what it was. I listened attentively, paying attention to the night but the only sound I could hear was that of the wheels of the carriage on the road and that of the hooves of the horses.

Perhaps we must have hit a rock! I thought to myself. I was just about to relax when I heard another thud but this one was more powerful, it was enough to jolt around in the carriage. That wasn't just a rock this ti around!

Easing up, I pulled open the shutters only to see so of the guards that followed us were looking rattled. I saw Reagan gripping the reins of his horse tight as his eyes scanned the woods, no doubt sensing so kind of threat.

"What's going on? What's happening?" I asked looking around.

"You should get back inside and close that shutters." Ca Reagan's reply as he continued scanning the woods.

I didn't listen to him ad instead opened my shutters wider, "If we are under attack, I need to know."

No sooner had I said that, did an arrow co flying straight at but Reagan with his quick instincts used a sword to block it. A gasp escaped as I ca back up only to see a small group of army erging from the woods.

"Yes Princess, we are under attack! Happy now?" Reagan asked and if he wasn't so focused, he was going to see the glare on my face. "So, will you please close the shutters now and remain seated while I deal with this ss?"

Gritting my teeth, I did as he asked but also the opposite. Pulling the shutters closed, I hiked my gown up and kicked the door open. I reached inside my gown and pulled the dagger I had hidden in my garter.

If Reagan thought I was going to play the princess who needs a knight he in shining armor, he was about to be very mistaken!

A man charged forward but Miguel handled him, quickly swinging his axe at him.

I side stepped to the side, moving to the other side of the carriage only to see that the coachman already had an arrow sticking out of his chest. Dead, he was dead! At that thought, I whirled around only to see a man staring at .

"The princess, it's the princess!" He suddenly yelled to no one in particular.

Fuck! I ntally cursed just as eyes imdiately fell on . I gripped my dagger tighter bracing myself, but Reagan suddenly grabbed by the waist and yanked behind . I watched as he attacked with speed, not letting of the n get closer towards .

Reagan was fast, impressively so too. The way he moved effortlessly ad without stress, like he was one with the wind. I watched as he parried and blocked the n attacks and within minutes the n laid dead at our feet.

Reagan did all of that without even breaking a sweat and all I could was just stare at him, way too impressed. I knew he was a good fighter but having witness it in person just did things to , I was awestruck and sothing else. Sothing, I dare not to admit out loud.

Before I could figure myself out, I heard loud grunting. Looking away from Reagan, I glanced up only to see Miguel dragging a middle aged man with him. The man struggled but Miguel had a strong hold on him, not getting him out of his sight.

"Managed to get one of them brother!" Miguel stated still dragging the man.

"Good one brother, you've done well!" Reagan praised just as Miguel shoved the man to the dirt on his knees.

The man in question glared at Reagan and I couldn't decide if he was stupid or brave, for he had to know who Reagan was. His reputation precedes him, everyone knew who he was.

"Who sent you?" Reagan asked.

The man glared at Reagan and I decided he was just stupid when instead of speaking, he spat at Reagan's shoes. Almost in reflex, Reagan reached out and kicked the man in his cheek. The impact knocked the man to the ground but Reagan reached forward and yanked the man back to his knees.

"Listen to you piece of shit," Reagan said, "You are going to tell who sent you, or else...."

"Or else what?" The man yelled back almost standing up but Miguel dragged him back to his knees, "You are going to kill ? torture ? I assure you that whatever it is, it is ten tis better than the hells that we are facing here." He said through gritted teeth.

I stepped forward, unable to resist speaking. "What hells?"

Reagan turned to glare at , perhaps wishing that I had kept my mouth shut but the man's eyes found mine and the hatred I saw in them sent a chill through my body. "You sit in your fancy castles, hiding in your huge walls while the rest of us suffer under the rule of your father." He hissed at before turning to glare at Reagan, "You are the bravest knight we've ever seen, a man not born of noble blood, yet one who fought tooth and nail to ascend to greatness. For that, you have earned our respect. Indeed, the admiration of all. But while you ride forth, conquering distant lands and claiming glory, you fail to see the rot festering in the very heart of the kingdom you are sworn to protect. Corruption coils its way through the court like a serpent, tightening its grip under the guise of noble titles and wealth. Tell Sir Reagan, do you truly fail to see that? Or is the princess cunt truly that good to make you turn a blind eye to things?"

No sooner had he said those words did Reagan throw a punch to his face. The man's head went to the side, the impact sending him into a coughing fit and he spat at blood at the dirt along with a tooth.

Instead of keeping quiet, the man released a laughter as he slowly turned to look back at Regan. "People are dying. Won, children, taken every day from us. Whatever livelihood we have is taken to fatten up the bellies of the nobles while we peasant are forced to live a wretched life." He said and there was no mistaking the pain in his voice, "Let's see how long you all can keep us all under control, the revolution is coming." He said with a smile.

I frowned as I watched him with a strange look on my face. There was sothing about his smile! I muse my gaze dropping down only to notice his hands moving into his holster by his side and my eyes widened in horror. "Reagan, watch out!" I called out in warning but it was too late.

The man removed the dagger hidden in his holster, "Long live the revolution!" He yelled and with impossible quickness, he dragged the dagger across his throat.

I watched in horror as blood spurt out of the man's throat before he fell down to the ground, jerking violently. His body imdiately went still after that, his eyes turning glassy with his mouth slightly parted.

He was dead!

"Soone get the princess back in the carriage!" Reagan yelled while muttering a curse under his breath.

I felt a firm but gentle hand on my wrist and I allowed the person to pull away from the horrific sight. It wasn't scary because of the dead body or the blood but it was the fact that I had just watched a man kill himself for sothing called the revolution.

If he did so, it makes wonder just how far the people were willing to go since this man clearly didn't fear the crown and it makes wonder just what exactly the revolution was!
