Chapter 98: Not Worth Much.

"When you combine that observation of your instructor with Death Envoy’s interest in him, I am sure that the slave boy has a soul and mind above level 1. With all the money he acquired and with Death Envoy’s support, the power of his soul and mind must have reached level 2 by now."

"Then there is the matter of his Dao Heart. I am sure that his Dao Heart is at least level 3."

"He was able to survive his experience as a slave without giving up, but instead had a strong determination to gain his freedom. I believe that this is an indicator that his willpower is strong. His willpower might even be at level 4 or close to it."

"When you combine all of these, you will find his swift advancent to rank 2 to be reasonable. And I know that you don’t want to hear it, but all of these will make him far more valuable than you."

Slav opened his mouth to complain, but Skarg interrupted him, saying, "Listen to ."

His voice was stern when he said that to Slav. But then he cald down and eased his tone as he said, "It is true that he makes for a better investnt than you. But no one will invest in him because he is a mber of the Death Claw Society."

"Anyone with a modicum of knowledge and sense will know not to invest in soone destined to beco another puppet in Death Envoy’s repertoire. And even if they still go ahead and invest in him, all the better for us because that will make him grow quickly so that we can harvest him as soon as possible."

"In summary, you don’t have to worry about him because no matter how he shines, he can only beco foil to make soone else or even you shine brighter. That is his destiny."

His father’s words cald Slav down and restored his confidence in himself. His heart settled as he bowed to Skarg and said, "Thank you, father."

Skarg nodded in satisfaction before he moved back to his position at the edge of the building overlooking the world beneath him. As he did this, he said to them, "You may go."

His three sons bowed before turning to leave. But then they heard Skarg say, "You should advance too, Simon. Your overload should have reached the critical point by now."

Simon’s eyes lit up when he heard this. He said excitedly, "Really, father?"

Skarg nodded with his back turned to him, "Yes. I’m sure. You’re ready."

This confirmation caused Simon’s excitent to soar. He quickly rushed off to arrange for his advancent.

Slav watched him with so envy. He was envious that Simon could advance without trying hard like him. But this made him rember the painful training that he was going through in order to raise his energy manipulation skill, so his face contorted.

Serge saw this and laughed. Then he said to Slav, "It seems I won’t be needed around here anymore and can finally go to the battlefield to earn rit points to raise my status."

"I’ll leave once I settle the matter of the person who took 10 million energy stones from us. I’ll go and join our eldest sister, so you will be alone with Simon. You guys should take care of yourself."

Slav nodded in understanding before saying, "You can go in peace, brother. I’ll take care of Simon."

His reply made Serge chuckle and say, "I’m sure you will."

Then the two went their separate way to do what they needed to do. After Slav had separated from everyone else, he allowed himself to beco solemn, and a hint of the fear that he had been hiding in his heart leaked through his facial expression.

His face was solemn as he asked himself, "Why is Father looking for cultivators of the Luck Pathway? What is so special about that Pathway anyway? What will he do if I reveal that I have the Danger Sense tac to him?"

No one knows he possesses the Danger Sense tac, not even his father and brothers. He didn’t tell anyone about it because of the danger that he felt about doing so, and because the Danger Sense tac is a Divine tac.

Divine tacs are very rare and special. From what he has heard, Divine tacs are important for advancing to rank 6, and there are many rank 5 cultivators who haven’t been able to advance because they lack a Divine tac.

He also heard that Divine tacs are also valuable to rank 6 cultivators and above, simply because Divine tacs are the only tacs that can reach rank 6.

So if it is revealed that he possesses such a valuable tac, scores of rank 5 cultivators will swarm and hunt him. Even rank 6 divine cultivators will also co after him.

But as bad as this is, it is not the most important source of danger about the Danger Sense tac to him. This is because this danger is only a possibility and will take ti before it arrives.

His family won’t get into trouble imdiately after he reveals to them that he has the Danger Sense tac. On the other hand, he can sense that sothing very bad will happen the instant he uses the Danger Sense tac as his Core tac.

The worst part of this imdiate danger is that he can’t sense what it is or who it will co from. All he can tell is that the danger will co from the sky, which has only fueled his suspicion that the source of danger is too strong for him to perceive.

Both the imdiate and possible dangers make revealing the Danger Sense tac a bad idea for both himself and his family. But for so reason, his father is looking for cultivators of the Luck Pathway and won’t say why. This is making him worried that Skarg will attract trouble.
