Chapter 47: Truth And Lies.
Loki didn’t care about Muni’s complaints. He just kept his mouth shut and kept to himself. He never gave Muni a chance to punish him for showing others that they can be lazy and still do well, so Muni could only swallow his anger.
This continued until the last week of the initiation program. On the first day of this last week, Muni called an assembly and spoke to them about how proud he was of them.
Muni also made ntion of an unruly child of his, which everyone knows to be Loki. But he didn’t complain about Loki too much this ti around. The main topic of the assembly was still the societies and the upcoming competition.
Because of the digression about Loki’s lazy and unruly nature, Muni’s speech took longer than usual. But he eventually finished his speech and dismissed them.
As usual, the remaining survivors began talking about who would win the competition on their way back, and they ntioned Loki’s na several tis. This didn’t please Slav at all. In fact, their actions displeased him.
Slav quickly beca angry until he gave his four lackeys an ultimatum to get rid of him. The four of them picked lots to determine who would do the unpleasant work of going to kill Loki.
The person who took on the unlucky work was still the forger. The man sighed and carried his heavy hamr over to kill Loki.
This ti, Loki was more than ready for the attack. He quickly killed the man and distanced himself from the corpse while still wearing his armor.
As expected, the corpse exploded a few seconds later. The explosion took down half of Loki’s house and set the rest on fire.
Loki was outside his house and a far distance by the ti this happened, so he was completely safe and would have been unhard even if he wasn’t wearing his armor.
As it happened, the place he ran to was closer to the other three lackeys, so the Telepathy tac was finally able to see them. From there, he used his physical eyes to spot them, and he saw them hiding behind a wall and looking at him with expressions of surprise on their faces.
When he saw them, the anger he had bottled up over the course of many tilines flared up and made his eyes turn bloodshot red. He beca so angry that only the feel of their hot blood on his face could calm him down.
But he quickly reined in his violent emotions and controlled his impulse to kill. Instead of letting them control him, he bottled them away to be used to refine his Dao Heart.
He exhaled loudly before deactivating all of his tacs. As soon as he did this, Muni arrived.
So if he had gone over to fight the three remaining lackeys, Muni would have caught him breaking the rules. The outco for that won’t be good at all.
He bowed to Muni and said, "Instructor, one of Slav’s slaves ca to kill . I managed to defeat and kill him, but it seed that soone had planted a Corpse Explosion tac within him. So when I killed him, he beca a bomb that would surely take my life."
"Fortunately, I survived all of their sches. But I want you to help
seek justice, or Slav will just keep sending his slaves to kill ."
Just as he said this, Slav appeared nearby. Apparently, he had also been watching the progression of events right from the start.
The young master walked over to them slowly while clapping his hands and saying with an amused expression, "What an imaginative lie. You called him over to your house, and you killed him in cold blood. Then you destroyed his body in order to remove any evidence that would show that you attacked him first."
"After you did all of that, you decided to put the bla on
and say that I sent him to kill you. If I didn’t know for sure that I didn’t send him to kill you, I would have believed you. Your performance was just that good."
Then he said to Muni, "Instructor, don’t believe him. He is lying. It is just a slave to lie so shalessly."
When Loki heard what Slav said, he beca stunned for a short while. When he recovered, the first thought that ca to his mind was to beco angry and deny Slav’s accusations vehently.
But he didn’t do any of that. Instead of becoming angry, he cald down. He was like a dough of flour that was shrinking instead of rising after live yeast was poured into it.
His eyes narrowed in thought, and he let the logical part of his mind take over his decision process. After thinking about the situation for a while, he ca to the conclusion that he shouldn’t bother with Slav at all.
So he turned to Muni and said, "There are two possibilities. Either I approached one of Slav’s slaves and called him over, and the slave ca over to my house, even though the hatred between
and Slav is common sense, and I killed him, or Slav sent one of his slaves to sacrifice their worthless lives by coming to kill . Which do you think is more likely to be the case?"
Slav also said to Muni, "Yes, instructor. There are two possibilities. Either you believe this lying slave and offend my family, or you believe the truth of my words and gain the favor of my family. Which do you think is more likely to be true?"
Loki’s heart beca colder when he heard what Slav said. Even Muni’s eyes flickered.
Even if Muni were an idiot who thinks with his butt, he would be able to co to the conclusion that Slav sent his lackey to kill Loki. After all, the hatred between the Rein Family and Loki is common sense at this point.
But now that Slav had rephrased the situation as the option between siding with a slave or siding with the Rein Family, everything changes. The decision stops being a choice between the truth and the lie.
