Another difference is that the Mind Freeze tac has a targeted effect, instead of freezing everything around him. So the effect of the Mind Freeze tac will be hidden from others, but the Mind Freeze tac won’t be able to freeze attacks like the Space Freeze tac can.

While it is debatable which one is better between the Space Freeze tac and the Mind Freeze tac, he still prefers the Mind Freeze tac because there are Branch tacs for it that he can purchase to enhance its power, unlike the absolute absence of Branch tacs for Space Freeze tacs.
