Chapter 220: Last Chance.

On his way back, Greg made sure to show off his great victory in the communication channel. He said, "What a bunch of flakes. If you don’t finish what you started, you will never be able to achieve anything great in life."

"You left

behind, but that only ant that I could hoard the city and keep everything that it could offer to myself. So it was your loss that you didn’t follow

on the mission, and it was even more of a loss that you quit just as you were about to reap a lot of rit points."

Soone imdiately said, "What about that person that you killed? Isn’t it a loss for them that they trusted you at all?"

When Greg heard this, he imdiately defended himself, saying, "That man was a spy. I had to kill him. It is my job to identify and kill spies."

But this response didn’t get a favorable response. Many people laughed at his flimsy excuse, while so felt that it wasn’t a joking matter and began arguing with him.

However, nothing they said convinced Greg to apologize. He didn’t even admit that he did sothing wrong. This caused a lot more people to beco angry.

The communication channel descended into chaos because of all the argunts. Loki listened with relish without saying anything. He wasn’t surprised by what happened, so he had the presence of mind to enjoy the back and forth.

Eventually, news of Greg’s escapades got to Alia, the commander of the battlefield. She didn’t like how the mission had turned out because it wasn’t the plan at all.

Apparently, Greg’s job was to confirm that the city didn’t have its protector. After confirming this, he was to inform Alia, who would then start the second step of the plan, which was to use the three defenseless cities to break into the defense of the Martial Body Sect.

But instead of doing his job, Greg decided to destroy the city. Then he left the burning city and didn’t tell her what he did.

She only found out about what he did because his subordinates spread the news to everyone. As soon as she heard, she went to the communication channel of the captains to berate him.

What she heard angered her so much that her voice was loud as she said to Greg, "Are you out of your mind? What got into you? Why didn’t you do what you were asked?"

In response, Greg said, "I thought that since I couldn’t hold the city, I should torch it so that my mission wouldn’t go to waste."

But Alia didn’t find this response satisfactory. She yelled at him, saying, "No. What you thought was that since my plan would take a long ti and it might not work, you were better off just destroying the city and earning your rit points."

"You disregarded my instructions because you were selfish and because you didn’t think I would kill you or replace you. You’re right to think that. I won’t try to kill you yet. What I will do first is to find a replacent for you."

No one in the communication channel said anything so as not to interrupt her. They could see that she was boiling hot angry, so they kept mum and only listened so as not to draw her ire.

It was a good thing that they were quiet because Alia still had a lot to say. Her voice was still raised as she said, "To think that you would do this after I believed in you. Everyone said that you were full of shit, but I decided to give you a chance. Yet, this is how you repay my faith in you."

"Tell , if you’re not going to be useful to , why should I keep you around? If you are only a burden that kills my recruits every other week for whatever cockymany reason that you cook off, why shouldn’t I kill you?"

Without waiting for him to answer, she said, "From now on, you’re on notice. I will start looking for soone who will take your place. I will pay their salary myself if I have to. So prepare yourself to be replaced."

"Once you’re replaced, I will kill you. The only way out for you is to prove to

that you are better left alive. You have the ti until I find a replacent to do so."

Greg began to panic when he heard this. His heart was beating wildly as he said to himself, "I knew that this mission was important to her, but I didn’t think it would be this important. I might have crossed a line this ti around."

He was truly scared for his life. After all, Alia is the highest power of the Four Directions Sect in this small world, and he had succeeded in greatly offending her.

He has been flippant with most people, but he tries not to offend any rank 4 person. But now he has offended the most powerful rank 4 person on his side, who has the power to turn all of the other rank 4 people on the side of the Four Directions Sect against him.

So even if he was crazy, he knew that sothing had to be done to prove his worth to Alia and change her mind about killing him. This was why he began working hard as soon as Alia called everyone on the front lines into action to attack the Martial Body Sect.

Apparently, Alia still wasn’t willing to give up on this opportunity even though Greg botched it. She believed that even though Greg ssed up, he had still proved that three cities were lacking rank 4 warriors. It was just that Greg had delayed them from taking over the three cities as soon as possible.

Even so, she was still willing to take a gamble. So she ordered an attack on the Martial Body Sect using the three defenseless cities as the opening.
