Chapter 122

"Saa’len veyorra, qithan sha’lui?" The reddish figure said, causing the Reavers there to raise their eyebrows.

"Huh?" Lyra muttered with a furrowed brow.

"Saa’len veyorra, qithan sha’lui?" The figure repeated again as it stepped forward, its arms which had been crossed now falling to its sides, revealing reddish skin and fingers curved into sothing resembling claws.

It paused for a second, lifted its head, and stared at the beast beside it. Shockingly, the beast did not move one bit as it stared back at the figure whose blonde hair fluttered slightly in the wind.

The figure’s eyes left the beast’s face and trailed down to its body dripping with black blood. Its regeneration was slow but still present, regrowing its limbs. However, it did not sprout more than four this ti, unlike before.

Seeing this, the figure’s hands clenched tightly, its fangs grinding against each other in restrained rage.

"Xar’thil veno’rra, shi’kai morul?" it asked in a loud roar, glaring at the Reavers in front of it who could not even begin to understand what it was saying.

Zen, however, took notice of sothing.

’Why does it seem so angry all of a sudden? Is the beast close to it or what? By the way, who the fuck is this? Or more like, what the fuck is this?! It doesn’t even look human but still looks human.’

{Why are you confusing yourself? You said it looks human and doesn’t look human. Dude, make up your mind.}

’Shut the hell up! Do you know what it is?’ Zen asked inwardly but was t with zero response.

’Huh? System, do you know what it is? Answer and don’t suddenly go quiet, damn it!’

{Sigh.} The system’s robotic voice echoed in Zen’s mind, causing him to lift an eyebrow.

{You’re so indecisive! You told to shut the hell up, I did just that, and now you’re yelling at to speak?! Co on, you annoying human, fucking make up your mind already!}

’Argh!’ Zen roared inwardly as he felt like clawing at his brain but restrained himself because the figure was already speaking again.

"Qithan sha’lui?" it asked once more, its eyes glowing brighter this ti.

"Like, I’m sorry, but we don’t understand your words." Lyra said as she glared at the figure, her hand gripping her sword tighter.

"Saa’ sha’lui."

"Huh? Didn’t you hear what she said, Hellboy?" Jace asked with furrowed brows as he glared at the figure. "We don’t fucking understand what you are saying. Speak our language or get lost!" He added, tapping his finger on his sword, causing water to swirl around it.

The figure’s eyes suddenly darted to the weapon, fixating on the glowing blue water swirling around the blade. It tilted its head side to side as if srized or perhaps analyzing this phenonon in front of it.

"Morul." It muttered silently with a slow nod before staring back at the humans. Then, without another word, it turned around.

The figure walked towards the beast, placed its clawed palm on its chest, and closed its eyes. A faint glow emanated from its palm, pulsating slowly.

"Huh? What is it doing?" Zen mumbled in confusion as he watched the figure stand frozen for a few seconds. ’Hold on! Is it trying to heal the beast or what? But I’m not seeing any difference. I...’

"Screw it! I’m tired of waiting around for this alien to finish what it’s doing. I feel like it’s trying to heal the beast!" the earth swordsman snapped, and without hesitation he dashed forward at full speed.

"Wait a mont!" Blake shouted, lunging to grab him, but the man was already gone. He reappeared directly behind the reddish figure and swung his sword with full force toward its neck when...

"Ui." the figure muttered. It stretched the other hand behind its back; one of its limbs swelled for a single second, then the mass flowed into a clawed finger.

Suddenly the whole finger elongated at terrifying speed and smashed into the man’s head. A huge, gaping wound opened, and the swordsman froze in place.

His sword clattered to the ground. The glow around the figure’s palm dimd, and it slowly turned to face the Reavers. Blake stood stunned, unable to move, teeth grinding. The figure grinned widely, fangs bared.

"Saa’len." it said, then shook its head and opened its mouth again. "I believe that’s what you call it. Nice."

’It...it can suddenly speak our language?!’ Lyra’s eyes widened as sothing in her chest wasn’t settling down.

"Now, where was I?" the figure murmured, a deep crease on its face. It snapped its fingers. "Right. I was asking you all, who hurt my dear friend?!"

Zen’s mind raced. ’Was it trying to learn our language earlier, not heal the beast? And "dear friend"? What the hell is going on?’

"No response?" the figure asked, raising an eyebrow as it glared at them.

"I repeat my question: which of you hurt my dear friend?" it demanded, voice low and dangerous.

"We will answer your question when you first answer ours. Who the freaking hell are you?" Tom replied, thrusting his greatsword forward with a furrowed brow.

"Who am I?" the figure echoed, then shrugged casually. "I suppose I can tell you this much since I’m going to be killing you all anyway. Anyway, I’m Xar."

"Well, Xar, what gives you the confidence that you can kill us all?" Lyra shot back, the edge of her voice sharp. She held out her hands and twin swords shimred into being, each one reflecting her rage.

"Because Xar hates people who touch his friends and make them bleed. Which is why Xar will make you all bleed too!" Xar snarled, eyes flashing.

"Well, I’m about to make you bleed too for killing one of my n!" Blake roared, fury cracking his voice. His Veil surged through his legs, and with a sound like a cannon, he exploded forward toward Xar and the beast like a missile.
