Chapter 354: Accused Of Stealing

As the clock struck 1pm, a tall woman with a warm yet authoritative deanor, dressed impeccably in a tailored suit, stepped forward to the front of the room, her presence commanding imdiate attention.

She was the coordinator for the afternoon session.

"Ladies and gentlen, if I could have your attention, please," she called out, her voice clear and confident.

The chatter gradually subsided as everyone turned to face her. "I hope you all had a refreshing break. We have an exciting challenge ahead of us, so let’s dive right in."

Ms Anderson paused for a mont, allowing the anticipation to build. "The next challenge," she continued, "is the Signature Drink Challenge. Each team will have one hour to create a unique and morable drink that reflects your team’s creativity and skills."

"But for this session, it will be broadcasted live for our coffee enthusiasts all over the world. So put in your best performance, knowing that the world out there is watching."

A murmur of excitent rippled through the crowd as the teams exchanged eager glances.

"In this challenge," Ms. Anderson went on, "we will be testing for four key elents: flavor, balance, presentation, and originality. Your drink should not only be delicious but also visually appealing and distinctive. Rember, the judges will be looking for that special sothing that sets your drink apart from the rest."

She smiled, her eyes scanning the room. "You will find all the ingredients and equipnt you need at your stations, and there are also so raw ingredients at the store if you happen to run out of supply. When the hour is up, please present your drinks to the judging panel. Now, let’s get started. Good luck to all of you!"

With that, the teams hurried back to their stations.

It was the sa as before and as much as Lauren hated it, she was still placed beside Peggy’s station.

This ti around, all the four mbers in the team were allowed to work together.

From Lauren’s team, Horatio and Mia were sent to get the ingredients after Peggy’s team had taken theirs.

The countdown began, and the teams sprang into action.

Soon the hall started buzzing with energy as ingredients were gathered, and blenders and mixers whirred to life.

Lauren was carefully brewing a rich, aromatic coffee, while Horatio prepped the other ingredients.

Suddenly, Horatio noticed sothing odd. One of their key ingredients, a rare hazelnut syrup they had sourced specifically for the competition and submitted before now, was missing.

His heart began to pound as he searched frantically through their station, the anxiety growing with each passing second.

"Boss," he called out and tried to keep his voice steady despite the rising panic. "Have you seen the hazelnut syrup?"

Lauren looked up from the coffee she was brewing, her brow furrowing in concern. "No, I haven’t. It should be right there."

Horatio scanned their station again, but the syrup was nowhere to be found. Panic set in. Without it, their signature drink would be incomplete, and their chances of impressing the judges would plumt.

Across the room, his eyes landed on Café Solstice’s station. There, amidst their ingredients, was their missing syrup.

Horatio’s heart sank. It was unmistakable – the distinctive bottle standing out among the rest. He had personally packaged it from the store before they set out that morning so he recognize it at a single glance.

His eyes widened in disbelief as he tapped Lauren frantically, pointing with his other hand. "That’s our syrup," he whispered urgently.

Lauren frowned, glancing over to where Horatio was pointing. "Are you sure, Horatio? Let’s not falsely accuse others," she cautioned, still skeptical.

Horatio nodded confidently. "I’m sure. I rember personally picking that this morning before leaving the store. It’s ours."

Without waiting for Lauren’s permission, Horatio moved purposefully towards Peggy’s station. "Ms. Carter, that’s our syrup. We brought it specifically for our signature drink."

Peggy turned to him, her expression innocent but her eyes cold. "I don’t know what you’re talking about, Mister. We brought all our own ingredients."

"No, this can’t be yours. Check well, maybe you’ve misplaced yours," Horatio insisted, his voice tinged with frustration.

"Are you calling my boss a thief?" Dylan, Peggy’s assistant, retorted, raising his voice. "Why would she need to take your ingredients when we’re not preparing the sa thing? It’s obvious you’re looking for trouble."

This commotion succeeded in drawing the attention of other contestants and the online viewers. The live stream chat erupted with comnts as viewers reacted to the unfolding drama, most of them in support of Café Solstice.

"Did I just hear that my idol has been accused of stealing?" one user, typed furiously.

"I can’t believe Empress Brew is causing a scene over so syrup. Talk about drama queens," comnted another.

"Lauren and her team are just sore losers. They can’t handle the competition," wrote another.

"Peggy would never steal. She’s too talented to need to stoop that low," chid in another die-hard fan of Peggy who had been following her since her previous two wins.

"Horatio from Empress Brew needs to chill. He’s making a fool of himself."

"Empress Brew is just jealous of Café Solstice. This is all a ploy to distract them," accused another.

"Seriously, Lauren? Get your team under control. This is embarrassing," remarked another.

However, among the sea of negative comnts, a few voices rose in defense of Lauren and her team.

"Wait a minute. Let’s get the facts straight before jumping to conclusions. Innocent until proven guilty, right?"

"This is serious. If Empress Brew says it’s their syrup, let the judges investigate properly before accusing anyone."

"I’ve followed Empress Brew for so ti and their leader, Lauren. She’s always been about integrity. Let’s hear both sides before passing judgnt."

"Lauren’s team wouldn’t make a baseless claim. There must be so truth to what they’re saying. Let’s not attack without knowing."

Since they were not permitted to use their phones, Lauren couldn’t feel the heat of the scrutiny and the weight of the accusations from online audiences but she could hear the snide remarks from the other team mbers who were in support of Peggy.

But, seeing the commotion, she joined Horatio at Café Solstice stand and faced Peggy with a stern expression. "This isn’t right, Ms Carter. We know that syrup is ours."

Peggy’s deanor remained calm, but there was a hint of satisfaction in her eyes. "We didn’t take anything, Ms Hols. Maybe you misplaced yours."

The head judge, at this ti, stepped in. "What’s going on here?"

The judge nodded, turning to Peggy. "Do you have proof that this syrup belongs to your team?"

Peggy hesitated, and the judge’s expression hardened. "We take accusations of this nature very seriously. If you can’t prove ownership, we’ll need to investigate further."

Peggy’s facade of innocence cracked slightly. "Fine, check the security footage. It’ll show we didn’t take anything."

The judge signaled to the event organizers to review the footage. As they waited, the tension in the room was palpable, with eyes darting between Peggy and Horatio.

Lauren remained calm, placing a reassuring hand on Horatio’s shoulder. "We’ll get this sorted out but for now, whatever the result, let’s focus on finishing our drink. We’ll handle the rest calmly."

The event organizers returned after a few minutes, their faces serious. "We’ve reviewed the footage," one of them said, addressing the judge.
