Chapter 35: Wait, You are Doctor Janice.

"Once it’s safe for him to be moved, transfer him to another ward where he can be guarded without drawing attention. I’ll send so guards to keep watch at his door until he wakes up."

"I will surely put a call through once there is any developnt and for the other matters, be rest assured, everything will be carried out to the letter just as you have instructed Doc," the Chief doctor promised.

"Rember, everything must be done discreetly, without alerting anyone hiding in the shadows. From his report, he has broken so bones and will not be able to escape by himself even if he wants to after waking up, but that doesn’t an others might not help him do so. That’s why we need to take note of whoever cos to ask about him or shows an interest in him. No one must be ignored," Kathleen instructed, each word full of authority.

They left the ward and were walking at the corridor when she rembered sothing.

"I know it’s none of my business, but do you by chance have any idea why President Hudson was in the hospital?"

"His grandmother was rushed in this morning," the doctor replied. He was not surprised that she wanted to know about this, what he didn’t understand was why President Hudson didn’t inform her about his grandmother.

"She has been in and out of admission for the past two years."

"What is wrong with her?" Kathleen was shocked to hear that. Nana has always been in great health, what could possibly have happened for her to be a frequent visitor in the hospital?

"She has a rare condition that has been difficult to diagnose all these years which has made it impossible for us to give her the right treatnt and Dr Steffan, her attending doctor told us that only Doctor Janice can correctly diagnose her condition."

When talking about this matter, the doctor had a lancholic tremor in his voice.

"We’ve sent several mails to Doctor Janice but she has never replied to any, which is quite unlike her. If this continues she may not be able to survive past the end of this year."

That last bit of information hit Kathleen like a bullet. No, Nana cannot die because of her. She was the only person in the Hudson family that loved her and supported her marriage with Shawn then. She has to do sothing.

The doctor who has been sad suddenly rembered that the person he was talking to was actually Doctor Janice and halted his speech. A faint light appeared in his eyes and he exclaid in an excited voice.

"Wait, you are Doctor Janice that we have been looking for all these while. The gods have finally smiled on old Mrs Hudson."

"Keep it down," cautioned Kathleen and scanned around to see if anyone heard him. After confirming that no one was paying attention to them, she relaxed.

The doctor sobered instantly. "Sure, please forgive , I was too excited just now."

"I can tell. Can I take a look at her before I leave?"

"Right away. I need to inform President Hudson at once."

"Not yet," objected Kathleen. "And I don’t want him to know that I’m aware of the situation yet."

The doctor’s forehead furrowed in a frown. "But you seem to be well acquainted with him. I wonder why he hasn’t ntioned his grandmother’s condition to you."

"Things are not always the way the appear, like I said before, no one must hear of it for now."

"Yes doctor." He had no choice but to let the matter rest for now. If she doesn’t want President Hudson to know about this, it’s fine with him as long as Old Mrs Hudson can be saved.

He had developed a soft spot for the elderly woman over the years. Whenever she ca for checkups at the initial stage of her sickness, she was always very jovial and easy to get along with. For soone with such an intimidating background, she didn’t put on airs like others, but was kind and everyone felt at ease around her including the nurses and other patients.

They headed to old Mrs Hudson’s ward and paused briefly by the door. Through the little transparent opening on the door, Kathleen saw an elegant woman sitting beside the bed.

From her profile she could recognize that woman anywhere.

Mrs Joanne Hudson had her head bowed as she scrolled through sothing on her phone.

Kathleen quickly stopped the doctor who was about to knock on the door.

The doctor turned to look at her, his brow rising in a question.

"We don’t need to see her today. I rember I have to be sowhere else at this exact ti. I will co and see her so other ti."

She didn’t wait for any response but brushed past the doctor who stood transfixed by the door with a befuddled expression, her steps brisk, almost bothering on a trot.

The chief doctor was speechless and couldn’t help wondering, "What’s going on? Why did she suddenly change her mind after getting to the door?"

Her expression when she stopped him from knocking on the door ca to his mind. It appears she was avoiding sothing or was it soone?

He took a look inside and saw Mrs Joanne Hudson sitting by the bed.

The more he tried to analyze her actions the more confused he got.

He could tell she wasn’t aware of Old Mrs Hudson’s sickness and her concern when she heard about it was genuine.

But then she didn’t want

to inform the Hudson family about her intentions, specifically President Hudson. What could be her reason or was there a misunderstanding between them?"

He recalled that her previous interaction with President Hudson at the ergency ward wasn’t entirely positive. Is that why she has not replied to any of the mails they’ve been sending?"

"Hmmm," he sighed, "whatever it is between them is none of my business, but I have to find a way to get Dr Janice to check on Old Mrs Hudson soon.
