Chapter 313: Deterrence asure

Ivan was about going with him when his assistant beside him suddenly said,

"You need to see this, Sir," and handed over his phone to Ivan.

"What?!" Ivan’s eyes widened in disbelief and he dashed past the commissioner in a flash.

In less than a minute, he was already seated in his car. "Drive!"

As the driver approached the gates of the police station, Ivan added. "Central District Police Station."

Sensing the urgency in his boss’s voice, the driver sped off in the direction of Central District Police station.

When they arrived at the police station, Ivan could barely wait for the car to skid to a stop before unbuckling his seat belt and in seconds, he was already entering into the office of the district commissioner.

He completely turned a deaf ear to the police officer who was in hot pursuit while yelling, "You can’t go in, Sir. The commissioner is busy and can’t see you at the mont."

Without bothering to knock, Ivan barged into the office and the commissioner raised his head, his eyes flaring hot as he opened his mouth to scold whoever that had the guts to barge Into his office.

His mouth only opened but no word ca out as he saw the person that just ca in.

At the end, he could only release a helpless sigh before turning to the person he was speaking with.

"I’m sorry, we have to reschedule this eting."

The person nodded in understanding and stood up. As he passed by Ivan, he darted a glance at him, wondering about the special identity he has to completely silence the district commissioner.

"Mr Dawson, I hope what you are here for is extrely important for such a dramatic entrance," Randy Edgerton, the district commissioner said.

"It will get more dramatic, Randy, if you don’t give

an explanation for the treatnt ted out on my daughter right under your nose," Ivan threatened.

"Your daughter? And what treatnt are you talking about?" Randy asked.

It could be said that he had no idea that Ivan had a criminal for a daughter.

Ivan sneered at Randy’ apparent pretense and turned to his assistant who stepped forward imdiately, opened his phone and handed it to Randy.

Seeing the picture of the young lady on the phone that was almost hanging dead, a faint emotion flickered across Randy’s eyes and disappeared almost as soon as it appeared.

"So she is your daughter? How can you raise such a daughter? I expected much from you, Ivan," Randy sneered in disappointnt.

Ivan gritted his teeth and glared at Randy. If not for the fact that this was his turf and his physical strength could not match Randy’s he would have sent him flying across the room with a blow.

Ever since they were in college, Randy could never beat him in anything, except for strength. It beca worse when Randy decided to serve his country and joined the force and had extra training.

He could only behave the way he just did because he knew Randy wouldn’t be able to do anything to him by reason of their weird relationship in the past.

But he didn’t also bla him at all. It was his own weakness in putting his feet down in his family as the head that gave Randy the opportunity to look down on him today.

But after today, everything will go back to the way it should be. He will do what he is supposed to do as a husband and a Father.

"I need her released on bail imdiately. As you can see, she is in dire need of dical attention," Ivan could only say in the end.

Randy stared at his classmate and didn’t know whether to continue making things difficult for him or let him off.

"You would need a lawyer to bail her. It’s a murder case we’re dealing with here," Randy explained.

Ivan turned to his assistant again who reported, "The lawyer has started the procedure sir."

"But she will be under our close observation throughout the period she will be receiving treatnt."

"Of course, she will be available. But I don’t need to remind a police commissioner the difference between murder and attempted murder," Ivan said mockingly as he followed Randy out of his office.

"What’s the difference? Don’t they all have the sa goal... killing? If the young man had died, I bet you wouldn’t be so proud lecturing

on my job," Randy sneered.

They waited for Benita to be led out by two female police officers and as soon as Ivan saw his daughter, all his arrogance in front of Randy and anger at Benita disappeared without a trace as they were instantly replaced by fear and anxiety.

"Quick, take her to the nearest hospital," he ordered the driver.

The nearest hospital to them happened to be seven minutes away and it took the driver a maximum of five minutes to get there despite the traffic congestion.

She was admitted and infused while they tended to her wounds.

anwhile as soon as they left, Randy stared at the young man who was like a ghost that suddenly appeared by his side.

"Kilian Hols, are there any requests you might have?"

"None for now, but it’s just a warning not to allow sentint to get in the way of justice."

"I don’t need your remainder. If that was the case I wouldn’t cooperate with you this far. But I’m sorry to say that you are clearly the one operating by sentint here. You went too far with the torture."

"She also went too far in disrespecting human life. So it’s tit for tat," Kilian threw back.

"Besides, what I did is called a deterrence asure."

"In the future if she stumbles on a gun unknowingly, she will flee a thousand miles in escape."

"She might even turn out to be one of your ambassadors in the future," Killian chuckled.

"But that’s if you want to start a movent on the need to avoid violence," he added and led the way into Randy’s office as if he was the owner of the office and Randy a re visitor.

Randy was speechless. How co he had not heard of such a torturous way of recruiting ambassadors in all his years as an officer?

’I think I still have a lot to learn from this young man,’ he muttered to himself as he followed Kilian into his office.

*************

Stanley stord into Kilian’s office two days later. "Benita has been released on bail."

"I’m aware of that," Kilian said nonchalantly and motioned for Stanley to take his seat.

Following Kilian’s request, Stanley begrudgingly took his seat opposite Kilian. "But that was not what you assured ," he complained.

Kilian pushed back the lock of black hair that had fallen across his face, revealing more of his handso face. "True again. But if she dies, how do we get the real culprit?"

A frown ford on Stanley’s face. "Real culprit? What are you talking about? Benita is the one that shot my brother in his own wedding. We all saw it with our own eyes."

Kilian stared at Stanley in silence for soti while tapping his pen on the table.

After what seed like eternity to Stanley who was desperate for answers Killian sighed deeply,

"All I have to say is that there is more to this case which the police are not even aware of.

And I intend to solve that myself.

That piqued Stanley’s curiosity.

"Are you saying there might be soone else?"
