Chapter 306: I Wont Give Up On Steffan
She looked up and saw Steffan towering over her with an adorable smile.
"Sweetheart," she moaned. "You ca looking for . You ca because you rembered , right?"
"But I’m angry with you. How can you forget , your Lauren so easily? I’ll make sure I punish you severely."
"How do you intend to punish ?"
"I will make you kneel for one whole week. One day for each hour I spent worrying and crying my heart out," Lauren stated. "But why does your voice sound so different?"
"How do I sound?"
"You sound just like my annoying brother, Kilian."
Kilian Hols, who was about lifting his sister from the hard bench, changed his mind and flicked her forehead instead.
"What did you just say?"
"See, you are behaving just like him now," Lauren’s mouth ca together in an angry pout.
"Lauren!"
Lauren jolted awake to see her brother glaring at her.
She sat up and rubbed her eyes vigorously.
"Kilian?!"
"Mmm -hmm?"
"Why are you in my dream?"
"I’m not in your dream, dumbass. You are the one in my world."
"Kilian! What are you there arguing about? You were supposed to comfort her and bring her ho, not argue with her," Monica Hols, their mother scolded as she approached.
"Comfort ? What...? You know, mom?"
"Yes dear and we are here to take you ho. Why did you choose to co to this place to sleep instead of the comfort of your own bed?" Monica’s eyes were laced with concern as she scanned Lauren’s appearance from head to toe.
"I didn’t want to bother anyone. You’ve all been stressed all day and needed so rest," Lauren explained,
"So you decided to bother the birds and this old bench, instead?" Kilian teased. "I can’t believe you were even calling
nas in your so-called dream," he said, feigning anger.
"I’m sorry. But you weren’t supposed to be part of the dream," Lauren apologized, but her "Serves you right, though," that followed almost imdiately, watered down her apology.
Kilian: "..."
"If I had known I was actually in your dream, I would have given you a slap and asked for your forgiveness straight away. That way, you wouldn’t settle scores with
since it all happened in your dreams."
"You are already a grown man with children, Kilian. How can you be this childish?" Monica chided lovingly, enjoying her children’s banter with each other.
"Ask him, mom. But how did you know I was here?"
"Because I was in your dream, that’s if we are to follow your line of thoughts," Kilian teased, praying that she would remain that way and not have to deal with Steffan’s issues.
Her sadness all through the day had been shared by all her family mbers, who always doted on her. Every one of them wished to take the weight from her and help her carry them, which unfortunately was impossible.
All they could do was show their support in the best possible way to reduce her burden.
"Shaless," Lauren hit him in his arms and followed him to the car.
They arrived at their residence at Federal Hill. After freshening up, Lauren was served dinner.
"Mom?"
"Yes, dear."
"How did you find out about Steffan?"
"I don’t want you to think too much about what has happened. It’s just his mory that he lost, not his feelings. If he loved you before, he will grow to love you again, understand?"
Lauren nodded in understanding. The brief ti she spent at the park had sohow stabilized her and made her see things in a whole new light.
As they were driving back, she had reminisced on her so-called "dream" and saw it as a sign that Steffan would co back to her. All she needed to do was wait for him.
Her mother’s reassuring words have just confird her thoughts.
"We’re here to support you, no matter what. We’ll get through this together," her father added with a compassionate look.
"Thanks, Mom, thanks, Dad. I guess Steffan’s mom called you, right?."
"Yes," her father nodded, his mind drifting back to the phone call they had received from Sarah asking them if Lauren had gotten ho.
When they had responded that they had not seen her, Sarah had expressed her concerns which prompted them to probe further. Only to hear Sarah say, "I guess I have to tell you now."
Lauren’s father had imdiately put the phone on speaker so that the others would all hear what was going on.
"Is everything alright? What happened?" Monica had asked.
"Steffan has suffered from selective amnesia and can’t rember certain mories, including his relationship with Lauren."
"Oh, my goodness. That’s terrible news."
"We’re doing everything we can to support Lauren and Steffan through this, but also don’t want Lauren to be too sad if Steffan can’t relate with her as his fiancee for now. That was why I agreed when she said she wanted to go ho."
"But the mistake I made was allowing her to leave alone. I should have insisted that the driver send her ho."
"No need to worry, Aunt Sarah. I think I know where she is," Kilian said.
"Oh thank goodness. Please call
as soon as you find her."
They could all hear the relief in Sarah’s voice.
"Thank you for telling us, sister," Monica responded. "We’ll be here for Lauren, whatever she needs, just focus on Steffan over there and don’t overlabour yourself," she advised.
"I’ll try. And you also need to be prepared too as Steffan may not see you the sa way as he did before."
"We understand. If he can’t rember Lauren and his relationship with her, he definitely won’t rember us. We do understand that his treatnt towards us will also change as a result of that."
"Thank you for your understanding, Monica."
"What are friends for," Monica replied dismissively.
"Alright, go ensure my daughter’s safety while I check on Steffan. I left him alone in the ward to quickly make this call."
"Dad?" Lauren called out to her father, who seed to be daydreaming, the second ti."
"Your mother-in-law loves you a lot."
"Are you just realizing that?" Lauren said with a spoilt smile.
"Don’t be too proud," Kilian teased.
"I can’t help it. Not everyone out there is so blessed."
"And that’s why you shouldn’t give up on Steffan," her mother chipped in.
"I won’t give up on Steffan!" Lauren said passionately.
"I bet you also don’t want to miss out on an outstanding son-in-law," Kilian poked his mother who had a satisfied smile on her face after Lauren spoke.
"Stop gloating and also try to make your mother-in-law happier," Monica threw back.
"How is she going to be happier when she has decided to make my life miserable," Kilian complained.
"How is your life miserable? What is wrong with calling in once in a while to check on her grandchildren?"
"That is a far cry from "once in a while" mom. She practically lives in my house! I’m even thinking of relocating out of the city with my wife, let
see how she will be free to gallivant around the world."
Monica couldn’t believe her ears. "Hope it’s not what I’m thinking."
