Chapter 246: You Are So Pathetic Dad!
Shawn chuckled and looked towards where Elvis was staring.
"I like that one. It’s like a puzzle," said Elvis who loved anything that was challenging.
"Great choices, guys. Let’s see what else we can find," Shawn said, taking a ntal note of all what the children were interested in.
The children eagerly explored each exhibit, asking questions about the art while Shawn accurately explained the different art styles and the story behind most of them, making it an educational yet enjoyable experience for Eleanor and Elvis.
By noon, after a thrilling visit to the aquarium, the children were hungry and they took a break to eat sothing.
And as they walked into a seafood restaurant, strategically positioned close to the aquarium, where they had been watching so sea creatures, their appetite was whetted.
The restaurant was known for its delectable seafood dishes.
Upon their arrival, the restaurant staff greeted them with genuine smiles and led them to a table near a large window overlooking the waterfront, providing a picturesque view of the harbor.
As they settled in, a friendly server approached and offered the nu leaflets to Shawn and the children.
Taking a look at the nu, Shawn asked the children what they would want to have.
"I love shrimp. I want to eat shrimp, daddy." Eleanor said
"I want to try the fish tacos, please," Elvis ordered.
*The server nodded with a smile, taking note of their preferences.
Probably because they occasionally had children as guests, the children’s dishes were arranged creatively in playful presentations that further appealed to their young tastes.
As for Shawn, he ordered so of their specialty seafood dishes.
He helped Eleanor peel the shells and placed them on her plate who, without further ado, did justice to them, relishing the taste.
As the al ended, the server bade them farewell, expressing hope for their return, leaving Shawn and the children with a feeling that they might still pay the place a visit from ti to ti.
After visiting two more places, they headed back to the penthouse, exhausted but content.
Eleanor relaxed her head on her father’s body as they sprawled out on the rugged floor. "I had so much fun today, daddy. I wish mummy had co with us."
"We will bring her along next ti, hopefully," Shawn said.
"Why does mummy seem not to like you dad?" Elvis asked innocently.
Their father, from what he had seen seed to be a nice person, why doesn’t mummy like him?
This has been a question on their minds since they got to know about their father, but their mother had refused to give them any answers, maybe their dad would help them out this ti around.
Shawn released a deep breath.
It was easier explaining the circumstances of their separation to adults but how was he going to explain to two kids that in a mont of foolishness he did sothing that he would regret for the rest of his life.
"Dad?" Eleanor urged. She was also interested in finding out the truth.
Other children were living together with their parents, so why must their family live apart?
She wanted to spend every day with her father as well as her mother. She loved the both and wouldn’t want to have one in the absence of the other.
"The thing is that," Shawn began. "I was very foolish in the past and believed the bad things that others told
about your mom, so I did sothing that hurt her badly."
"Did you beat her up?" Elvis asked, his expression turning dark when he thought of that possibility.
That’s one of the things he knew about parents who were not living together.
His friend once told him that whenever his dad was angry, he would beat up his mother and she would be sick for days.
"I... em.... It’s not..."
A disappointed look settled on Elvis’s face and he smirked. "It’s obvious you did it. Why can’t you give a simple yes or no answer?"
Shawn couldn’t bring himself to describe how he had almost strangled their mother to death despite her insisting that she was innocent.
"I’m sorry children. But dad was very angry at the ti and did so despicable things."
Elvis shook his head in pity. "You’re so pathetic, dad? Soone accused your wife of sothing and you believed them. Why didn’t you think that they were lying?"
Shawn ran a hand through his hair. That was the sa question he had asked himself several tis.
But the scenario then was too glaring that he didn’t have the rationality to think otherwise.
Which man would see his wife half naked in bed with another man in a hotel room and still have his rationality intact?
But those were details he couldn’t share with the children. He could only take the bla for his narrow vision then.
Elvis sneered as he glared at his guilt stricken father. "Did you even try to find out the truth?"
"I did, but by then it was already too late. Your mother had gone far away and I couldn’t see her again to apologize until a few months ago when she ca back."
Eleanor’s tone was solemn as she asked, "What did you do to the people that lied against her?"
"I dealt with them severely and they are still serving the punishnt for what they did."
"Really?"
"Yes dear," Shawn said as his mind went to the last report he got about Mrs Beazell."
He had promised to make her life so miserable that she would beg to die.
So far, the people he had assigned to her in jail had not failed him at all.
The life of a prostitute was more dignifying than the one she was presently living. At least, prostitutes can still receive wages for the services they render, but not in her own case.
As for the man who had pretended to sleep with Kathleen then, he was practically a beast begging for death every day.
