Chapter 224: Still Playing The Loyal Assistant?

anwhile in the president’s office at Hudson corporations, oblivious of the ruckus his mother had caused at Wyatt Corporations, Shawn’s attention was buried in his laptop, busy typing away and researching child psychology, parenting tips, and understanding the behaviors of six-year-old children.

As he delved into every piece of information available, his face reflected his excited state.

After checking on their general behaviors, he delved further to check the preferences and behaviors tailored to the different genders.

He was so engrossed in it that he forgot that he had an appointnt scheduled for that evening.

He only paused in response to the knock on his door, but when he saw that it was Johnson, he resud his research.

"Boss," Johnson called hesitantly.

"Speak," Shawn said, barely looking up from the screen.

"I ca to remind you that your next appointnt is in an hour."

"Cancel it," was the blunt order Shawn spat out.

Johnson’s eyes widened in shock at the unexpected request from his usually business-focused boss.

"But sir, the eting with the mayor is crucial, and we have other important clients waiting..."

Shawn’s head snapped up from his screen. "What part of "cancel it" didn’t you understand? Or do I have water in my mouth that makes it hard for you to hear ?"

"I have sothing incredibly important to attend to and don’t have ti for anything else. In fact, clear my remaining schedule for today and tomorrow as well."

Johnson was taken aback at the sudeen developnt. "What could be responsible for such a drastic step?"

"I have a date with my children tomorrow and I need to be prepared for it. Is that a good enough reason for you to f**k the hell off?"

Johnson stood speechless for a few seconds before the cold glare from his boss woke him up. "Yes, yes. I’ll handle everything sir."

He scurried off to prepare for the eting with the mayor.

He was yet to wrap his hand around the fact that his boss just canceled a eting with the mayor just because of an appointnt with his children.

Ever since Kathleen left the office hours ago, he has refused to see anyone. He had to fill in for the boss to et the clients.

Should I think that the sudden appearance of the children as a blessing or a curse?

"How in God’s na do I inform the Mayor that my boss suddenly found out he had children and is having dinner with them tomorrow evening and for that reason, he cannot see him tonight."

If there was any ti he wished never to be an assistant, it was at this very mont, unfortunately, this was not the ti to indulge in wishful thinking.

The only way to make his apologies sincere was to see the Mayor in person instead of putting a call across.

Focused on rescheduling the appointnt as his boss had requested, he set off to the Mayor’s office after confirming that he was on seat.

As he approached the entrance, he suddenly stopped in his tracks, coming face to face with Linda Beazell, a figure he would rather not encounter especially at this crucial mont.

The appearance of Linda, once a prominent figure and the rival of his boss’s wife, was a far cry from the confident and poised persona she once exuded. Her deanor now held a hint of desperation and uncertainty.

Johnson tried to conceal his surprise and nodded perfunctorily at Linda, keeping a professional distance despite the unease that her presence evoked.

"Ms. Beazell, what brings you here?" he asked with forced cordiality.

Linda regarded Johnson with a calculating look, her green eyes revealing a hint of lingering resentnt.

"Oh, just a eting with the Mayor. What about you? Still playing the loyal assistant to Shawn Hudson?" She asked, her lips curling in a sly smile.

Of what use was it to her buttering up to the Hudson family if she has lost her only useful ally?

After the call she made to Joanne the other day, she knew without being told that her attitude had changed towards her.

If it were in the past, once Joanne heard that she was in trouble, she would always co to her aid no matter how busy she was.

But Joanne has been back for close to a month now and she was certain she had heard what happened to the Beazell family, yet she hadn’t sent for her or visited her mom in jail.

Even after putting a call across to her, she refused to see her. It has been almost a week since the ti she promised to get back to her but up till now, she was yet to hear from her.

If she continued to wait, wouldn’t she die waiting?

Johnson sensed an underlying motive in Linda’s words and replied, his composure, very much intact. "Yes, I serve President Hudson diligently. Excuse , I have urgent matters to attend to."

With a curt nod, he quickly made his way past Linda, his mind swirling with suspicions about her purpose here.

He headed straight to the Mayor’s office, determined to focus on his duties,

Luckily after explaining to the mayor that his boss had to attend to an ergency family matter, he agreed for the eting to be rescheduled.

He breathed a sigh of relief as he left his office and went back to Hudson Corporations.

He still t his boss, engrossed in his research when he got back. He was sure he hadn’t taken a break to eat anything all day.

"Boss, the eting with the Mayor has been rescheduled," he reported.

"Hmm," was the only response he got from the newly discovered father.

This was getting way out of hand. He was sure this was not how all fathers behaved. If so, there will be more mad fathers roaming the streets of Baltimore today.

"Boss, why don’t I get you sothing to eat first?"

"Why are you so noisy all of a sudden?" Shawn snapped.
