Chapter 172: You Actually Care About ?

"It was after her eting with Shawn that she got into the accident." Jason sighed softly, his brow furrowing in concern.

"But what about the children? Wouldn’t it affect them? You know Janice told

they’ve been inquiring about their father’s identity recently. Does it an she will keep the truth from them and never allow them to recognize their father?"

"I’m afraid I have to support my sister this ti if she decides to never reconcile with Shawn."

Cheryl squeezed his hand gently, offering comfort. "Maybe we can start by having a talk with Shawn and guide him on the right approach. I could feel his love for Janice even from a thousand miles."

"Are you sure you are ready to incur my sister’s wrath?"

Cheryl nodded thoughtfully, "You’re right. She wouldn’t want us to do that. But Shawn still deserves to know about the children."

Jason’s lips curled in disdain. "He doesn’t qualify as a father. Initially I thought of helping him get back with my sister and the children, but it seems he doesn’t deserve it anymore."

"He couldn’t even recognize his own children that are directly under his nose, rather he is accusing my sister of cheating on him with another man," he smirked.

"Was that the reason for the argunt which eventually got her into an accident after leaving Shawn?"

"Mm-hmm."

"How is she now?" Cheryl asked, panicked at what might have happened to Kathleen .

After waiting for a few seconds, Cheryl didn’t get any response from Jason rather she saw the way he was looking at her as if she wasn’t making sense.

"What’s with the look? It’s your sister we are talking about here."

Jason chuckled slightly. "Yeah, I know. But didn’t you see her just yesterday? How was she when you saw her?"

When Cheryl recalled how energetic and happy Kathleen was yesterday, her racing heart quietened down. She was perfectly fine and didn’t look like soone who went through all that.

"I was worried for nothing," she hissed and sat back down beside Jason who wasted no ti in capturing her back into his embrace.

Snuggling closer to him, she relaxed her head on his chest. "But co to think of it, she seed to be getting in and out of accidents since she ca back."

She giggled girlishly. "I’m beginning to think she is a superwoman considering how deathly each of those accidents were. It takes only soone with super powers to survive those life threatening accidents without any harm done to her body."

Her mind went back to the accident they had because of Spider where she had passed out in the blink of an eye while Kathleen, instead of being scared, was unruffled throughout the whole scary experience. The re thought of the stunt Kathleen had pulled that day made her shiver involuntarily.

A frown appeared on Jason’s face. "Are you cold? Should we reduce the air conditioner?"

"No, I’m Ok. Nothing is wrong with . I just thought of sothing."

"Are you sure? Or do I need to warm you up a bit? Jason offered, his voice sounding a bit hoarse.

Hearing the ambiguity in Jason’s words, a slight flush appeared on Cheryl’s face.

She roughly shoved Jason away as she glared at him. "You can’t be serious! We are discussing sothing important here and all you can think about is "that." she couldn’t bring herself to say the word.

Jason grabbed her palms and started rubbing it, transferring so of his heat into it.

"I only wanted to do this," he said innocently.

"Tell , what do you think I was thinking about?"

Cheryl couldn’t help but lower her head to hide her embarrassnt.

Jason’s eyes had a mischievous glint as he teased, "You are still so shy, even after being together for so long and on the verge of getting married. I hope you will not disappear into thin air on our wedding night."

"Jason!" Cheryl yelled, but on second thought, she decided to be a little daring. "Let

burst your bubbles, I’m actually looking forward to it."

Jason’s eyes widened in disbelief. "Really! But I don’t think so."

"That’s your problem to sort out," Cheryl smirked.

"Then I need to find out if you are truly ready for our wedding night."

All of a sudden, Cheryl stood up. "I think it’s high ti you went back." She turned her back to Jason, crossing her arms across her chest.

Jason’s mouth spasd up on a smile. "Are you driving

away? Could it be that I was right about you being shy?"

"Who told you I was shy?" Cheryl threw back, still not daring to turn around.

"Then who is it that is blushing so much and couldn’t even look at

directly?"

"Whatever."

"Cheryl, you’re incredible, you know, right? Your eloquence in the courtroom is unmatched, yet here you are blushing over sothing as simple as sex," Jason remarked, his tone light and teasing.

"I... well, that’s different! I’m a lawyer in court, but here, it’s just... different," she uttered, trying to hide her embarrassnt.

Jason chuckled, enjoying her adorable shyness. "Co on, sweetheart. I’ve seen you tackle tough cases with confidence. Are you telling

you’re more intimidated by my handso face than a courtroom full of people?"

Cheryl playfully rolled her eyes, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Okay, maybe I’m a bit more comfortable arguing a case than dealing with teasing from soone I care about on such a delicate topic," she admitted with a hint of laughter in her voice.

"So you actually care about ?"

"What else would I be doing with a bully like you if I didn’t?"

"Then show

the extent of your care."

Cheryl felt Jason’s hot breath on her shoulders and blushed deeply. She suddenly felt that the air was not circulating enough.

There was a playful glint in Jason’s eyes as he saw how stiff Cheryl had gotten when he held her from behind.
