Thunder cracked outside the compound with a force that shook the walls. The lights flickered again, dimming to a pale hum before stabilizing under the backup generator. Rain hamred the windows in violent sheets, as if the sky itself had turned hostile.

The Patron was not gone.

Every person in the room felt it.

His presence had not vanished when the fog tore away. It stayed pressed against the building like a predator circling a cage. His anger thrumd in the air like electricity. His voice whispered through the foundation, not loud enough to form words but strong enough to raise goosebumps along every arm.

Aria lay against the dical bed, still trembling, but her eyes remained open. Conscious. Present. Alive. Luca had one arm beneath her back, holding her half upright. She felt heavier now against his chest, no longer limp with unconsciousness. Her breath still trembled, but it flowed more evenly with each passing minute.

Rosetta stood near her shoulder, one hand pressed to her rosary, the other resting on Aria’s arm as though physical contact alone could keep her rooted in this world.

Nico barked orders into his radio for the compound’s outer defenses to strengthen their formations. Guards sprinted outside in the rain, bolting weapon crates into place, locking down gates, and raising the steel periter shutters.

The doctor adjusted the monitors and checked Aria’s vitals with trembling hands. "Her oxygen levels are stabilizing. Blood pressure is rising back to safe levels. Whatever he did to her, it is fading... but not fast enough."

Aria leaned into Luca and whispered, "He wants to break . That is his purpose."

"No," Luca said quietly, brushing her hair behind her ear. "His purpose ends here."

Aria closed her eyes for one second, just long enough for Luca to feel fear claw into his ribs again. But she reopened them almost imdiately and breathed out, "Do not let him near her."

Luca pressed his forehead against her temple. "He is never touching her. Not while I live."

Outside, thunder cracked again. This ti, the lightning lit the sky with a violent greenish glow.

The Patron was gathering power.

Rosetta shivered. "That is not natural lightning."

The doctor nodded shakily. "This is echoing through the energy field. The sa pulse pattern as before."

"Use normal words," Nico snapped. "What does that an."

"It ans he is trying to break through the defense grid."

Luca swore under his breath and kissed Aria’s temple again. "You are safe. I promise you."

Aria’s fingers curled around his shirt. "For now. But he is not giving up."

Luca turned to Nico. "Bring the head of defense. Now."

Nico nodded and rushed out.

Rosetta sat on the edge of the bed, wiping Aria’s forehead gently. "How do you feel, cara mia."

Aria swallowed. "Like I am standing between two worlds."

Rosetta blinked. "Explain."

Aria stared at the ceiling, her eyes unfocused. "I can feel the pull of this world. My body. My child. Luca’s touch. But I can feel the other world too. The one he belongs to. It is like fog inside my head. Whispering. Calling."

Her voice cracked.

"And every ti my mind slips... I feel her pulling toward him."

"Who," Rosetta asked, her voice trembling.

"My daughter."

The doctor froze mid-step.

Rosetta pressed a hand over her mouth.

Luca tightened his grip around Aria. "She is reacting to his energy. That is all."

Aria shook her head weakly. "No. She feels him. She knows him. Because she is tied to the bloodline he created."

Luca leaned down until their foreheads touched. "You listen to . That tie ans nothing. She belongs to you. That is what matters."

Aria’s hand rose to his cheek. "I know."

But sothing in her voice made the temperature in the room plumt.

A guard burst through the door. "Sir. Defense head coming. And sir..."

Luca turned sharply. "What."

The guard swallowed. "The fog has surrounded the periter. Entirely. All four sides. The caras cannot see through it."

Luca handed Aria gently to Rosetta and stood. "Is he inside."

"No. Not yet."

Rosetta exhaled shakily.

Aria whispered, "He wants entry. He wants an invitation."

The doctor blinked. "Why would he need that."

Aria closed her eyes. "Because he cannot cross certain boundaries unless called by the blood."

Her eyes opened again.

"That is why he wants weak. So my mind opens for him."

Luca turned cold.

He walked to the window and looked into the storm. Rain blurred across the glass. Fog surrounded the entire compound like a wall of pale smoke. But inside that fog... shapes moved.

Faint silhouettes.

Shifting.

Pacing.

Watching.

Not human.

Nico entered again, out of breath, followed by the head of defense, a broad-shouldered veteran nad Salvatore.

Salvatore stood stiffly. "Don DeLuca. The periter lockdown is active. We have three rings of guards. No one gets in. No one gets out."

Luca’s jaw tightened. "He is not a man."

Salvatore swallowed. "We noticed."

Aria’s faint voice floated across the room. "He is not alone."

Everyone turned to her.

"What did you see," Luca asked.

Aria looked at the fog outside the window. Her expression changed slowly from fear to realization to sothing else. Sothing deeper. Sothing ancient.

"He brought the sentinels."

Rosetta’s breath caught. "What are those."

Aria pressed a hand against her own belly. "The souls bound to protect the first circle. He enslaved them long ago. They are not human anymore."

The fog shifted outside.

Three tall silhouettes stood directly at the gates.

Watching.

Waiting.

The doctor whispered, "This is impossible."

Aria’s voice shook. "They follow him. They serve him. And if he commands it, they kill anyone who stands between him and the bloodline he seeks."

Salvatore stepped forward. "We have weapons. We have firepower. Whatever is out there, we can shoot it."

Aria shook her head. "Bullets will not stop them."

Salvatore exhaled sharply. "Then what will."

"," Aria whispered.

Everyone froze.

Luca returned to her side instantly. "No. You are not fighting anything."

Aria looked at him, her eyes filled with a mixture of fear and fierce resolve.

"He is not here for you," she whispered. "He is not here for the guards. He is not here for the compound. He is here for . And for her."

Her hand rested on her stomach.

Her child kicked softly against Luca’s hand.

He swallowed tightly. "Aria. No."

But Aria turned her face toward him, cradling his cheek with a trembling hand. "Luca. Listen."

He went silent.

She breathed slowly, as if gathering strength that barely existed inside her weakened body.

"He is tied to through the bloodline. If I hide, he will tear down everything you built. If I run, he will follow until I collapse. If I break, he will claim her. The only way he loses is if I stand."

Luca’s throat tightened. "You cannot. You are barely conscious."

Aria smiled weakly. "That is why you are here. Because you make strong."

The room stilled.

The fog thickened outside, pressing harder against the walls.

Luca cupped her face with both hands and kissed her forehead, his voice shaking with the intensity of a man who had never been afraid of anything except losing her.

"You are not walking into this alone."

"I will never be alone," she whispered. "Because you are with . And she is with too."

Her hand drifted to her belly, where the child answered with a soft nudge beneath her skin.

Rosetta blinked back tears.

The doctor lowered his head respectfully.

Nico turned slightly to hide the emotion crossing his face.

But the thunder outside shattered the fragile mont.

A deep, violent crack tore through the sky, shaking the compound. The fog surged higher, swallowing the outer fence entirely. The sentinels moved in unison, stepping closer to the gates.

Salvatore yelled, "Sir, they are advancing."

Luca grabbed Aria’s hand. "What does he want."

Aria’s eyes darkened. "He wants a surrender."

Luca’s jaw clenched. "He will not get one."

Another rumble of thunder.

Then a voice carried through the fog.

Not shouted.

Not scread.

Spoken calmly.

Bring the child.

Aria flinched.

Rosetta grabbed her hand.

Nico lifted his gun.

Luca stood in front of her. "Never."

The voice answered.

Then you will watch her die.

Aria gasped sharply and gripped her belly.

Her child kicked with painful force.

Luca snapped. "Get back. Get away from her."

He drew his gun and pointed it at the fog.

The Patron stepped forward into view. His face was calm, but his eyes burned with ancient fury. The sentinels flanked him like statues carved from smoke.

He raised one hand.

Not calling Aria.

Not calling the child.

Calling the storm.

Lightning exploded behind him.

Thunder shook the earth.

Fog twisted violently into spirals.

Aria cried out as the pull inside her grew again.

Luca held her tightly, fury exploding inside him.

"Aria. Look at . Stay with ."

Her breathing trembled. "He is trying to open the door... inside ."

Luca pressed his forehead to hers. "I will close it. I swear to you, I will."

The Patron stepped closer to the gate.

One more step.

Two.

The fog lifted like a veil around him.

His eyes locked on Aria.

The entire compound started shaking.

Walls vibrated.

Lights flickered.

Glass cracked.

Aria’s hand gripped Luca’s with white knuckles.

"Luca," she whispered. "He is coming inside."

Luca turned fully toward the gates, fury burning through every muscle.

"Let him try."

Lightning split the sky.

The Patron extended his hand toward Aria.

She arched her back in pain.

And the entire world seed to hold its breath.
