Chapter 176: DUAL POV
Ace entered his ho office, ready for his online eting scheduled for the morning of the event.
The event wasn’t going to start until about 4pm. That gave him enough ti to round up this eting that was supposed to be held next week, but due to its urgency, had to be rescheduled for today.
Fay woke up with a need to eat sweets. She was craving sothing mouth harmful, but cravings fulfilling.
She jumped out of bed, and made it out in her pyjamas.
The first person she saw, thankfully, was a maid that worked in the kitchen.
"Is it possible to get so cake please?" She asked right after they exchanged greetings.
"Would you like it with freshly squeezed juice or coffee?"
"How about ice cream?" She shocked the maid by demanding.
If there was one thing the staff happily gossiped about, it was how the madam that now lived in the mansion never demanded for anything.
For her to do that now only ant she really wanted it.
The maid was only too happy to oblige.
"A cake and ice cream coming right away," she replied with a smile.
"I’m sorry, but if it’s going to be too much of a burden, then you can just substitute the ice cream for any cold drink." she stopped her right before she could leave.
"It’s not going to be difficult. Anything you want Ms Fay."
"Thank you so much—?"
"Jennifer."
"Thank you Jennifer," she said to the girl who was around her age, before returning to her room.
She jumped on her bed, and picked up her phone. The event at the Atticus mansion was not going to start until 4pm.
She had enough ti to satisfy her cravings, before the people the matriarch sent to dress her up would arrive.
And then after she was dressed, Ace would pick her up.
Her heart skipped a beat when she thought of Ace.
She touched her lips, and smiled. He had kissed her as if she was the best thing on earth the previous day.
She had a hard ti falling asleep, only because she couldn’t stop replaying his kisses in her head.
He had also said he was going to co pick her up for the event.
Her smile broadened because she just couldn’t wait.
Scrolling through her phone, she found a novel app she had been satisfying her delusions with, and went to her last read to continue where she stopped.
Everything had thankfully been set up for Ace’s eting. He had his secretary to thank for that.
As he relaxed into his seat, his mind briefly went to Grant.
How convenient the bastard never returned to work, after that day he claid to be sick.
He didn’t plan on contacting him either. It was his way of showing him so rcy for all those years he had served him.
If he had decided to, he didn’t know if he would be able to control his anger enough to not send him to hell.
That was what he got for blindly trusting his staff. It was never going to repeat itself again.
The eting began, and he quietly muted his mic in wait for the representative of the other company to begin.
He had heard how industrious this company was, but this was strangely the first ti they would be doing business.
Two huge dynasties collaborating was always going to get tongues wagging.
In a true Atticus fashion, he couldn’t wait for the dia reviews when the collaborative effort dropped.
He tapped his thighs to bring himself back to earth, because he was getting way ahead of himself.
He still needed for them to sign the contract, before they could move on.
The man who popped up on his screen looked to be in his mid to late thirties.
He already knew this was the acting president of the company.
According to rumours, the real owner of the company had not been involved in it in over twenty years.
At this point, you could call the man on his screen its owner.
"Good morning, Mr Ace. I heard the Atticus are having an event this evening. It’s unfortunate we have to have this eting today of all days," Richard Jackson said.
Ace forced a smile as he unmuted his mic.
"I don’t think there’s a problem. I’m more concerned with reaching an agreent that would be beneficial to the both of us. What do you say we make good use of the ti we have?"
"I say I agree."
It was 1pm, and Fay had begun to panic. Not even the mory of the cake and ice cream she had successfully had for breakfast were enough to keep her less agitated.
She didn’t know what to expect from the party.
It would be the first ti since Sophie’s party that she would be returning to the Atticus mansion. Also, with Ace by her side.
She just didn’t know what would happen, and that ignorance was killing her.
Pacing back and forth in her room, she began to create different scenarios.
She wondered if Reign would also be there. If she was, it was bound to be so sort of drama.
She reckoned Reign wouldn’t find it funny that Ace arrived with her, instead of the woman that was carrying his child.
"And you? How do you feel about that?" Her internal voices showed up.
"There they go," she muttered under her breath.
"It’s true Fay. How do you feel about your husband expecting a child with another woman? If you two settle things, and you return to the house, would you be able to live with Reign?"
They were right, she thought as she continued to pace.
These were real questions she was supposed to be asking herself.
Ace made a mistake. He admitted it with his own mouth that it had been a mistake.
Granted it happened on a night her life would have been at a huge risk, if not for the tily intervention of her doctor friends.
However, at that ti, they were not as close as she could feel they were now.
She knew she sounded like she was just trying to rationalise everything, but she couldn’t help herself.
If she didn’t try to find the silver lining, it would an giving up on the possibility of finding genuine permanent happiness with Ace.
It was all her fault for falling in love with him. She blad, and shaful herself for everything.
She had a nark for falling for people who barely felt the sa way for her.
If it wasn’t for her reckless feelings, maybe she would be able to access the situation better.
She fell to her bed, and buried her head in her palm.
"Please help
oh God to make the right decision," she prayed.
But even deep in her heart, she knew what her choice would be.
It was always going to be Ace Atticus.
Ace left his ho office feeling fulfilled. He had done it once again. Closed another deal as easy as drinking water directly from a tap.
He checked the ti before he stepped out, and discovered he had spent over three hours on call.
It was 2pm, and ti to start getting ready for the event.
As he walked towards his room, he ca across Reign on her way down the stairs.
She stopped when she saw him, and turned her motion towards him.
"Are you finally done with your eting?" She asked, grinning from ear to ear.
She looked excited. Exactly the way it was when she had sothing mischievous up her sleeves.
"Why are you so happy?" He questioned.
"Seeing you makes
happy. To know that I’m carrying your child fills
up with joy. So yes, Ace, I am happy and unashad about it."
His lips curved into a smile. As it would turn out, Fay was more manipulative than the Reign he thought was the worst.
She was carrying his child. His own heir. Sure that was grounds for giving him the company as the rightful inheritance.
"Are you coming to the event this evening?" He asked.
"Yeah, why?"
"I won’t be able to take you there. I just want to make sure it’s okay with you."
"Oh, it’s totally fine. Don’t worry about it. I guess Cam can drive
to the mansion. Is that okay with you?"
"Sure. Whatever you want, just ask Cam. When we return from the event, Reign, we would start a new life."
"Together?" She asked, as her chest tightened from all the emotions rushing over her.
"Together," he responded.
Fay sat on the chair the glam team made her seat. They had arrived in numbers just to truly make her the diamond of the event.
She was nervous about what the final look would be.
So when they asked her to rise to her feet, and she was escorted to the mirror, her stomach kicked.
"Open your eyes," she heard one of the voices say.
As she did, she stumbled back, and almost fell.
"Wh–" her words faded, because no expression could cover the reflection she saw in the mirror.
It was perfection.
