Avery and Jake had already gone inside, while Aamon remained outside. His attention was fixed straight ahead, still locked on the man in a black robe with glowing red eyes.
He knew what a rchant was. They had no stores, no physical items. They conducted transactions by selling digital items to every survivor.
Aamon had shopped with them many tis before, especially when he needed to buy items that were not easy to obtain from monster loot.
He walked toward the rchant alone, while Avery and Jake stayed inside the apartnt building.
Avery noticed that Aamon was not following them. She went back down to the ground floor and stepped outside the apartnt building.
From where she stood, she saw Aamon standing at the edge of the sidewalk near the coastal barrier fence.
"What is he doing?"
Aamon stopped in front of the rchant. When soone entered a certain radius near the rchant, the rchant system panel appeared in front of their face.
"Did you find sothing interesting?"
Aamon’s attention stayed forward as the rchant system panel displayed three nus: Sell, Buy, and Auction.
Aamon was already familiar with the rchant system and their UI. He had no trouble shopping with them.
rchants never cheated in trade. Even though they appeared like humans in robes, they were actually nothing more than projections of the system operating under the orders of the Cosmic Authority.
In short, they could be called NPCs.
Avery stepped closer and saw Aamon interacting with soone. Her curiosity grew, and she walked up to him.
"What are you doing, Aamon?"
[rchant System]
[Sell] [Buy] [Auction]
The woman was startled when a mysterious panel suddenly appeared in front of her face the mont she stood close to Aamon. The rchant turned his head, his glowing red eyes staring stiffly at Avery.
"Did you find sothing interesting?"
Avery was clearly confused. She did not know who the man was or what he was doing. Aamon glanced at her briefly and gave a short explanation about the panel.
"This is the rchant system. He’s a rchant," Aamon said while pointing.
Aamon explained how the rchant system worked. Avery was a smart woman. After hearing Aamon’s explanation once, she imdiately understood how it worked.
That saved Aamon ti from having to explain too many things to her.
The two of them began their transactions and sold several items they considered not very valuable. Avery sold many monster cores, following Aamon’s suggestion.
"Level 1 monster cores are useless. The effects are low, they have no affinity, and the enhancent chance is minimal."
Avery nodded. After all, she did not know much about things like this. She was impressed seeing how much Aamon knew about items like these, although she had no way of knowing whether he was right or wrong.
Aamon also sold items he had obtained, from monster cores to monster loot.
[List:]
[93x Monster Core Level 1 || 93 Coins]
[2x Mosquito Wing || 4 Coins]
[1x Ant Antenna || 3 Coins]
[1x Roll of Web Thread || 3 Coins]
[Total: 103 Coins]
"Do you want to process it?" the rchant asked in a heavy voice.
Aamon confird the sale. He gained an additional 103 coins from selling those items. Avery did the sa, but she only sold monster cores.
"Hehe, co back anyti," the rchant said.
Aamon finished his transaction and turned to see Avery still browsing. She had already sold her items, but she was curious about buying sothing.
She opened the [Buy] nu and looked at the items available inside, ranging from swords, equipnt, potions, to various survival tools.
"You want to buy sothing?" Aamon asked.
"Yes," Avery replied. "My sword is terrible. It can’t kill monsters as fast as yours."
Aamon grew curious. He opened the [Buy] nu as well and looked at the list of items being sold. There were weapons and other equipnt, but their quality was far below the sword Aamon currently had.
There aren’t many good items in the buy nu. I should just wait for the auction.
Even though Aamon thought the items were poor, Avery still bought one because the quality of the sword in the rchant nu was better than the one she was currently using.
It was not just about quality, but also the durability of her sword, which had been decreasing after long use.
rchants could not repair weapon or equipnt durability. Only a blacksmith could do that.
Avery successfully bought a new sword and showed it to Aamon. The young man nodded in approval.
"Hehe, co back anyti."
After finishing their shopping, the two of them walked back into the apartnt building. Jake was already waiting on the balcony. He had no idea what Avery and Aamon had just been doing.
They went up to the third floor, unlocked one of the doors, and checked the condition inside.
Aamon stepped in and saw that the apartnt room was clean and neatly arranged, though slightly smaller compared to Avery’s.
"You can stay here tonight. Don’t open those curtains at night. Monsters are sensitive to light."
Aamon walked over, his hand brushing across the table. There was no significant dust on the surface. The place was suitable for him to rest.
"I still haven’t forgiven you for what happened earlier. I’m only helping you now because you helped with the rchant earlier," Avery said.
He turned to look at her. "I understand."
Avery nodded, then excused herself and left the place. The door closed, leaving Aamon alone in his apartnt room.
He opened the window curtain and looked outside. The view of the sea with the reflection of moonlight was quite calming.
If rchants had already appeared, then blacksmiths would not take long to appear as well.
Among the many swords that crossed Aamon’s mind, his attention was always drawn to a black sword with a purple blade.
That sword was the strongest weapon aligned with darkness, the pure void essence of the Purple Void Dragon. The system called it the Voidreaver Sword.
A sword that did not injure the body, but killed by dragging the soul into the void realm and enslaving it.
It sounded cruel, but Aamon needed its power.
After all, he could not afford to be naive by relying purely on the power of light against the All-Seven. That would not be enough.
He opened the balcony’s glass door and stepped outside, enjoying the night wind brushing gently against his face.
"Back then, I rejected that power because it was cruel, heartless, and immoral. But truth and evil feel blurred in this world."
"It’s like walking on a tightrope. Lose balance, and I could fall into the abyss of evil or rise to the highest of righteousness," Aamon said.
He let out a long breath and closed his eyes while massaging his temple.
Is... Knight Necromancer worth my goal?
