"Alright students, class is dismissed."
"Goodbye, Coach Su."
Su Xing yanked off his headset, strode over to the sword rack, and leaned his heavy sword against it. Then, facing the sunlight streaming through the window, he gave a mighty stretch.
That morning, Shen Ruyun had moved back into the Sword Hall.
’I have a pretty good idea why she ca back,’ Su Xing thought. He didn’t really mind. Right now, it was just him and his younger brother in the Sword Hall. Because of him, his brother was training day and night, which made the place feel a bit empty. ’Having another girl around might liven things up a bit.’
Snapping out of his thoughts, he shifted his gaze to the system panel.
[Sword Dao Points: 4]
"Okay, another day’s work is done."
As Su Xing stretched his limbs and began to wonder what to have for dinner, he suddenly heard a faint voice coming from one of the two phones he was holding in his left hand.
’Huh? Is there a student who hasn’t logged off yet?’
In his experience, the mont he dismissed class, his students would log off faster than anyone. The virtual classroom would be empty in the blink of an eye, leaving only him. ’But soone’s still here,’ he thought. ’They probably need to talk to about sothing.’ With that in mind, Su Xing put his headset back on.
The mont he put the headset on, Su Xing heard a woman’s voice ask hesitantly:
"Coach Su... are you still there?"
"I am."
Su Xing spoke as he walked back to his computer. He glanced at the speaker’s na: Lu Anning. A mory surfaced. ’This must be... Liu Shiyu’s friend.’
"Sorry, Student Lu, I didn’t hear you just now. Did you need sothing from ?"
"I just wanted to ask... is Liu Shiyu coming back to the country? A couple of days ago, a man called —he sounded like he was in his thirties or forties. He said he was Shiyu’s father and that Shiyu would co visit in a few days."
Lu Anning’s voice trembled slightly as she continued:
"At first, I believed him. I asked him a lot of questions, and he answered every single one. But the more I thought about it, the more sothing felt wrong. Why was he calling and not Shiyu? But when I tried calling him back, the call wouldn’t go through."
"So I wanted to ask if you had any news about Liu Shiyu."
’Liu Shiyu? Didn’t I already blow her head off?’
The thought crossed Su Xing’s mind instinctively, but he imdiately realized this was a conspiracy targeting Lu Anning. So, he said:
"Well... Student Liu disappeared right after she left. I haven’t heard anything. Student Lu, I think sothing is wrong here. Does that man know your ho address?"
"Yes..."
It seed Su Xing’s words had confird her own suspicions, and her voice began to tremble more intensely.
When Lu Anning realized sothing was wrong, her first instinct was to call the police. But after hearing her story, the police said there was nothing they could do. From her description, the man had simply made a normal phone call. There were no threats. Everything else was just Lu Anning’s own speculation. How could they press charges or assign police resources to guard her based on that?
So, the officers offered her so words of comfort and left.
Fortunately, she had co to Cang City to study alone; her parents still lived back in her hotown. ’If they co after , at worst, I’ll be the only one to suffer,’ Lu Anning had started thinking, resigning herself to such strange notions. Then Su Xing’s voice suddenly broke through her bleak thoughts.
"Why don’t you co stay at the Sword Hall?"
Su Xing glanced at Liu Chang, who was concealed outside the door, and suddenly added, "The police patrol near the Sword Hall often, so it’s definitely safer than your place. Besides..."
Before Su Xing could finish his sentence, Lu Anning’s voice cut in.
"Really? ...Would that be a bother to you, Coach Su?"
"Not at all. We’ll be starting in-person classes again soon anyway. Just think of it as getting acclimated early."
Su Xing said with a smile. In truth, he wasn’t one to ddle in other people’s business. If it had been any other matter, he probably would have just told her to keep trying with the police or go wait at the station to stay safe.
But this matter was different.
This was clearly related to the Spiritual Sect. By now, almost all the sect’s believers below the rank of High Priest were dead. The few who remained were just a tiny faction of remnants. Therefore, there was a high probability that this incident was connected to a High Priest of the Spiritual Sect.
Ever since Su Xing had experienced the thrill of accelerated leveling from that white energy, he had been eager to obtain more. However, the Corpse Assistant Priest and his party that he killed afterward were clearly the handiwork of a single High Priest. None of them carried that energy. He figured only their leader, the High Priest, would possess it. This stirred a certain desire in Su Xing to "kill a High Priest."
However, based on what Lu Anning said, the High Priest behind this incident was likely a different one.
His style was clearly different from the one behind the Corpse Assistant Priest and his party. Perhaps this was the High Priest from Liu Shiyu’s lineage, who wanted to capture Lu Anning for so purpose.
’But... what for?’
Su Xing couldn’t figure that part out. Lu Anning was a complete outsider, just an ordinary person. But he didn’t dwell on it. As long as Lu Anning moved into the Sword Hall, the enemy wouldn’t be able to escape, and the truth would surely co to light.
"Thank you so much, Coach Su!"
Lu Anning hesitated for a mont, then said gratefully, "If it’s okay, I’ll move into the Sword Hall tomorrow. I still need to pack a few things today."
"No problem. That man on the phone, did he say when he would co for you?"
Hearing the excitent in Lu Anning’s voice, Su Xing gave a casual smile. The entire Sword Hall was his now. Unless the Hall Master suddenly returned, his word was law. Taking in one more young woman wasn’t an issue at all. What he cared more about now was when the person from the phone call would show up.
In response to Su Xing’s question, Lu Anning said, "He didn’t. He just said ’in a few days.’ I don’t think it will be too long."
"Alright, let’s do that. You should get over here quickly."
After Su Xing finished speaking, he saw Lu Anning thank him one more ti before logging out of the virtual classroom.
Just then, Su Yu walked out from a room behind him, holding a generic Da-Mi phone and scrolling through short-form videos. He glanced at Su Xing and asked, puzzled:
"Bro, you’re just finishing class now? It’s so late."
"No, I was just talking with a student about sothing."
Su Xing shook his head, looked at Su Yu, and joked, "So, Yu, how are things going with Ruyun? I’ve roped in another girl for you, about your age too."
Su Yu: "..."
