Sword Hall.
A spatial fluctuation suddenly appeared in the training hall.
Liu Chang’s right foot stepped out first. As he landed and looked up, he was stunned to see Su Yu squatting alone in front of a pile of black and red paste, seemingly examining sothing.
’Did this kid do the killing?’
The thought crossed Liu Chang’s mind, but he imdiately dismissed it, thinking to himself:
’No, that’s not right. Su Yu is only Tier 3. There’s no way he could have killed this guy.’
Su Yu had just broken through, and the Sequence Energy scattered around him hadn’t been fully retracted into his body yet. This allowed Liu Chang to discern Su Yu’s level at a glance.
A Tier 3 Sequencer.
While he had never fought the guy on the ground, he had personally killed his brother, Tian. Both brothers were Tier 4. It was highly unlikely that Su Yu could have defeated one.
Even if he had used the Adjudication Sequence,
the victim shouldn’t have been reduced to a pile of paste like this.
As these thoughts raced through Liu Chang’s mind, he gave a light cough, snapping Su Yu out of his daze as he stared at the paste.
Su Yu looked up, saw Liu Chang, and quickly stood up, saying:
"Brother Liu..."
"Who killed this?"
Liu Chang asked, pointing at the pile of paste on the ground.
To be honest, he was rather surprised. He considered his own kill—Tian—to have been quick, but from the looks of it, the battle here had ended even faster than his. This sparked a sense of excitent and curiosity about the strength of the person responsible.
"It was a mysterious expert."
Su Yu said without hesitation.
He then recounted the story he had fabricated, using both words and gestures to describe it.
Liu Chang’s eyes narrowed slightly.
According to Su Yu, the mysterious expert never even appeared. Just a few flashes of sword light had instantly sliced the person on the ground into a paste.
This sent shockwaves through him.
The aura left on the paste by this mysterious expert was clearly only that of a Tier 3, yet they had managed to kill a Tier 4 so easily?
He didn’t doubt Su Yu, though. Su Yu had no reason to lie to him, and the scenario he described was very much in line with the mysterious expert’s usual modus operandi.
Liu Chang was simply shocked that such a genius could exist in the world.
This stoked his lust for battle to an extre, even surpassing the excitent he felt when fighting Li Yu. He imdiately realized that since the mysterious expert had just acted, even without showing themselves, they couldn’t have gone far!
’I absolutely cannot let them get away this ti!’
Liu Chang snapped his fingers and vanished on the spot, his voice drifting back.
"I’ve contacted my brother. He’ll handle things from here."
After Liu Chang left, Su Yu breathed a small sigh of relief. He glanced at the unsightly pile of paste and frowned. But Liu Ming hadn’t arrived yet, and there might still be things to investigate, so he couldn’t just rashly dispose of it. He could only shake his head and sit down to the side to rest for a bit.
The sound of footsteps slowly approached from outside the Sword Hall.
Su Xing returned to the Sword Hall with steady steps, carrying so cleaning supplies. He glanced at the largely unchanged cri scene and asked:
"All taken care of?"
"Liu Chang just ca by, but when he heard the mysterious expert was the killer, he ran off to chase after them."
Thinking about how the real mysterious expert was standing right in front of him, Su Yu looked up at his older brother, smiled, and said:
"But Liu Ming will probably be coming over soon too. It’d be best if you went out for another walk, bro."
RING... RING...
Su Yu was halfway through his sentence when his phone suddenly rang in his pocket.
He glanced at his older brother, and Su Xing gave him an "OK" sign. Only then did Su Yu slowly take out his phone, answer the call, put it on speaker, and ask:
"Brother Ming, what’s up?"
"My brother just went to your place, right?"
Liu Ming’s voice ca from the phone, punctuated by the sound of rushing wind, which ant he was clearly driving, probably on his way to the Sword Hall.
"That’s right. Brother Liu just ca by, took a quick look, and then vanished."
"Oh, he told . He went to chase the mysterious expert. Never mind him, he’s always been this unreliable."
Liu Ming complained with a hint of resignation before asking:
"So, is your older brother, Su Xing, at the Sword Hall?"
"Nope. He went out to buy so things after dinner, so he just missed all this."
Watching Su Yu lie with such a straight face, Su Xing suddenly thought his younger brother’s composure was unusually strong. He could spin a lie without even blinking.
"That works. Saves the trouble of explaining things."
The special organization had never actually minded letting Su Xing know a few things. This had been decided from the mont of Xue City’s death.
Because of Su Xing’s special status as Su Yu’s biological brother, and his apparent connection to the mysterious expert, he might have already known so information about the Extraordinary World. If he were to be dragged into an incident, it wouldn’t be out of the question to tell him a few things.
However, Su Xing was ultimately still an ordinary person. If he wasn’t involved, it was naturally for the best that he knew nothing.
"In that case, clean the place up quickly. Don’t let anyone sll anything. As for the damage, just cover it up with sothing for now."
"After you’re done cleaning, have your brother head back quickly. Things haven’t been safe lately, and I don’t want him running into any danger."
Liu Ming’s voice ca through the phone again, saying:
"Also, I’ll be outside the Sword Hall in about half an hour. Bring the collected chunks of at out for to take a look. We’ll figure out how to dispose of it after that."
"Understood."
Su Yu hung up the phone.
Su Xing, who had been sitting to the side, glanced at his younger brother and said:
"Nice acting."
"You could probably win a little golden statue for that."
"My heart was pounding, and you’re still making jokes, bro?"
Su Yu put down the phone, wiped the non-existent sweat from his forehead, and looked at Su Xing. "Bro, you should head back to your room. I can handle the rest."
"Alright."
Su Xing stretched, stood up, and looked around the Sword Hall. "If it’s possible, do you think you could get your organization to reimburse for the repairs to the Sword Hall?"
"..."
Su Yu paused for a mont, then waved his hand and said:
"Don’t worry. To cover this up, they’ll probably send a specialized Sequencer to fix the Sword Hall directly."
"They won’t let you take a loss, bro."
...
「By the lake.」
Liu Ming leaned against the hood of his car, bathed in the cool night breeze blowing off the lake. His eyes were closed as he replayed the day’s events in his mind.
He had already t with Su Yu.
He had also seen the traces left by the mysterious expert’s attack, and it left him feeling utterly inadequate.
He had always been the main fighting force in the south, but with the arrival of personnel from the north, his strength was suddenly outclassed.
The Spiritual Sect mbers showing up now were all Tier 4, which also made him feel powerless. Because of this, Liu Ming was thinking of entering seclusion to train and break through to Tier 4.
But he was worried that sothing would happen to his older brother if he went into seclusion. His brother was indeed strong, but his personality was a real problem.
If the mysterious expert hadn’t intervened this ti, Su Yu would have had to use his Adjudication Sequence at least once, shortening his lifespan just to survive. A few more rounds of that, and Su Yu himself might not have been able to take it.
Thinking of this, Liu Ming took out his phone and dialed a number. When the call connected, Liu Ming spoke slowly:
"Hey, bro..."
