Chapter 34: Reversing Situations (2)

While the entire Sinoah rchant Guild was thrown into turmoil by the sudden assault, Kyle approached Viscount Rak’s side.

“Though it’s the dirt floor, sit down for now.”

Without even listening to his reply, Kyle sat down straight away.

It was also a clear declaration that he intended to thoroughly ignore the guards of the Sinoah rchant Guild who were gathering one by one.

At Kyle’s indifferent deanor, showing no concern despite enemies right before his eyes, Viscount Rak clicked his tongue.

“……You are truly bold.”

“Is this what you call bold? I think it’s only natural.”

In the end, it made no difference whether he killed them standing or killed those charging at him while sitting.

At Kyle’s words, Viscount Rak let out a hollow chuckle and took a seat as well.

“Now I finally understand whom the Head of the Family resembles in his boldness.”

“Do you know that my father’s nickna was the Wolf of Ragnar?”

“How could I not? To those living in the north, his na was a source of pride.”

“To , and to Pramo, Father was a pillar. Perhaps it’s only natural that two sons would co to resemble their father’s disposition.”

Rai Ragnar had been a Head of the Family lacking in neither civil nor martial prowess.

Had there been no monster invasion, he might have been evaluated as the greatest Head of the Family in history.

Using iron ore, he pursued various businesses, and on that foundation strengthened his military power.

The reason Pramo was well-versed in territorial administration was because he had naturally learned by growing up watching Rai Ragnar.

After letting out a deep breath, Kyle lifted his gaze to the sky.

“I want Father to be able to look down from the heavens and feel proud of us brothers.”

“He is surely already proud.”

At Viscount Rak’s confident reply, Kyle turned his eyes toward him.

“In any case, the situation has changed. The northern territories will be able to breathe easier now.”

“May I ask what you are thinking?”

Viscount Rak asked why the Pact Docunt had been annulled.

Of course, it was an undeniable fact that the existence of the Pact Docunt had always shackled Ragnar.

Now that the pact had been broken, the Royal Family would have to be mindful of Ragnar, but if it were the Daon Family, they could very well take the opposite course of action.

Understanding the intent behind the question, Kyle t Viscount Rak’s eyes.

“Ragnar, which has held its ground in the north, has now gained justification to advance into the central region.”

“Surely not……?”

“Pramo will receive the qualifications of a successor to the throne and advance into central politics.”

Perhaps, with Kyle’s return, the present ti could be considered the optimal mont for Ragnar to advance into the center.

King Clover had married three tis, yet had no legitimate heir.

All three children were princesses, and there was no son to inherit the throne.

Since the Ragnar Family possessed yet another Pact Docunt ntioned by Duke Zaira, even coveting the throne was not unreasonable.

‘By now, the King must be burning with anxiety.’

While Kyle montarily fell into stray thoughts, the number of people appearing before him continued to grow.

They seed unaware that gathering together like this only spared him the nuisance of extra work.

That was only natural, as living by the creed of “live when united, die when scattered” was the way of those who worshipped darkness.

Kyle knew their nature well.

“It will be over soon.”

From his seated position, Kyle lightly swung his sword.

Those gathered in one place froze stiff, unable even to think of dodging.

About thirty minutes later, Seros appeared at the entrance of the rchant guild.

A man being dragged along, his face swollen all over.

Sinoah, who had tried to hastily flee the slums, had been caught and brought back in Seros’s grasp.

“I have captured him, my lord.”

“Good work.”

“It wasn’t particularly difficult.”

Kyle shifted his gaze to Viscount Rak.

“Will Viscount Rak be returning now? The Royal Knight Order may already be gathered near the gate.”

There was no way the Royal Family was unaware of the existence of the Pact Docunt Kyle knew about.

There was a high likelihood that the Daon Family would move to seize the Pact Docunt possessed by Ragnar.

Understanding the aning behind Kyle’s words, Viscount Rak took a deep breath.

“I have already made my decision. Most of the northern lords will likely make the sa choice as I have.”

“Can you guarantee that?”

“It’s difficult to give absolute assurance, but there shouldn’t be major objections. Or perhaps you could convene a Northern Lords’ Conference?”

“That is for Pramo to decide. I am nothing more than the Grand General who holds Ragnar’s military authority.”

It was right that Pramo should beco the symbol of Ragnar.

Of course, Kyle would help with things Pramo found difficult to shoulder, but there was no need for him to step forward in politics or in uniting the northern lords.

Viscount Rak nodded as if he understood.

Only then did Kyle rise from his seat.

“Seros, we’re returning to the family.”

Carrying the unconscious Sinoah over his shoulder, Seros hesitated, unable to move easily due to a lingering concern.

“My lord, even so, he was a slave rchant, yet there were no breeding pen facilities.”

“He must have hidden them sowhere. We can find out that information through him.”

“Understood.”

Leaving the slums behind, Kyle’s group re-entered the Royal Capital.

As Kyle had expected, knights clad in dazzling armor were waiting in front of the gate.

At that sight, Seros bared his teeth and grasped his sword hilt with one hand.

“My lord, I will break through.”

“Seros, we didn’t co here to fight.”

“……But they won’t obediently listen to your words, my lord.”

“Then we can sweep them away at that point. Don’t think about shedding blood you don’t need to see.”

While the two spoke, Commander Deyra, who had been standing with an uneasy expression, swallowed hard.

Masters.

Two individuals who had reached the realm he so desperately desired had appeared at once.

As if they had dropped straight down from the heavens.

The reality before his eyes was hard to believe, but even so, he could not forget the King’s command.

Commander Deyra approached Kyle and bowed his head politely.

“Sir Kyle, I have been waiting to convey His Majesty the King’s request.”

“A request?”

“Yes, a request.”

“I refuse.”

At Kyle’s decisive rejection, cutting him off without even hearing what the request was, Commander Deyra squeezed his eyes shut.

When he finally opened them again, he set his jaw and continued.

“His Majesty wishes to personally apologize for the wrongs the Royal Family has committed against the Ragnar Family…….”

“It’s nothing more than a temporary asure. The King is in a position where he must protect that seat. There’s no need to hear it.”

“Sir Kyle, must it truly be so?”

“Will you fight, or will you clear the way? I would prefer the forr.”

At the sight of Kyle releasing a domineering aura, Commander Deyra recoiled in shock and stepped back.

He knew that a clash must never happen.

Commander Deyra, shaking his head forcefully from side to side, reluctantly raised his hand.

“……Open the way.”

As the troops surrounding the gate withdrew, Kyle passed by him and spoke calmly.

“Soday, we’ll et again.”

“……It won’t take as long as you think.”

“Just rember this one thing. I let you live once, but there won’t be a second ti.”

“I will keep it in mind.”

Just before Kyle’s group entered the gate building, Duke Zaira ca rushing in on horseback and shouted urgently.

“K-Kyle! Please wait just a mont!”

Commander Deyra tilted his head at the sudden appearance of Duke Zaira.

It would have been better to let Kyle leave now, yet for so reason Duke Zaira’s appeal did not cease.

“Please, can’t you help the Daon Kingdom just this once?”

“I refuse.”

Answering firmly and coldly, Kyle advanced forward without even sparing him a glance.

But then—

“The 1st Legion of the Tylers Empire has appeared at the border of the Daon Kingdom!”

At Duke Zaira’s words, Kyle had no choice but to stop walking.

“Which legion did you say?”

“……The 1st Legion.”

At Duke Zaira’s reply, Kyle raised a hand to his forehead.

Why did it have to be the 1st Legion?

Kyle squeezed his eyes shut, but there seed no need to accept the Daon Kingdom’s request.

It did not matter to him even if the Tylers Empire and the Daon Kingdom went to war.

From the beginning, he had already told Emperor Adrian Tylers that he would not get involved as long as Ragnar was not invaded.

“Seros, return to Ragnar.”

Kyle started walking again.

Watching his retreating figure with a forlorn expression, Duke Zaira shouted as if this were his last chance.

“Kyle! Please…….”

Ignoring Duke Zaira’s cry, Kyle activated the gate and gazed at the distant mountains.

With the 1st Legion of the Tylers Empire appearing at the border, the Royal Family would no longer have the leeway to concern itself with Ragnar.

However, he had a good idea who had planned the current arrangent.

‘It was probably Aron’s doing. I’ll have to hear what he offered as the price for this.’

It would be enough to hear Aron’s plan directly and judge it then.

anwhile, upon returning to Rark Territory, Kyle’s eyes shone sharply.

As soon as the teleportation ended and they stepped outside the building, Seros glanced at him and opened his mouth.

“……My lord.”

“Don’t say it.”

It was obvious how foul Kyle’s mood was right now.

Keeping his mouth tightly shut as he walked forward, Seros noticed Viscount Rak rolling his eyes.

“There’s no need to worry too much. It’s not because of you, Viscount, but because of sothing else.”

At Seros’s words, Viscount Rak nodded, yet his heart remained unsettled.

Unable to calm himself, he hesitated over whether to follow behind Kyle or wait at the Lord’s Castle.

Just as Viscount Rak was at a loss due to Kyle’s mood, soone was walking toward the gate building.

“Brother!”

At the sudden appearance of Pramo, Kyle tilted his head in confusion.

However, Pramo still wore a pleased expression.

“Did you return safely from the Royal Capital?”

“Why did you leave Ragnar?”

“The regular eting of the northern lords is scheduled to take place in Rark Territory. In any case, you need not worry about my safety. Sir Acacia and the Ragnar Knight Order are escorting .”

At Pramo’s words, Kyle crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes.

“Even so, shouldn’t it have been obvious not to move until I returned from the Royal Capital? Where is Aron?”

Almost as soon as Kyle asked, Aron appeared from behind Pramo.

Aron lowered his head, intending to explain the situation, but Kyle spoke first.

“If we hadn’t stopped the gate, the Royal Knight Order would have moved toward Rark Territory. That was careless.”

“……I apologize. We could not change the location of the northern lords’ regular eting. Instead, we ensured the Head of the Family’s safety by accompanying Sir Acacia and the Ragnar Knight Order.”

“Didn’t you know what I intended to do at the Royal Palace?”

“I did know, but…….”

“Of course, even Acacia alone would have had no difficulty dealing with the Royal Knight Order. But you should have been more cautious.”

At Kyle’s unusually sour deanor, Aron turned his gaze toward Seros.

Seeing Seros’s awkward expression, Aron asked in a sigh-laden voice.

“……Did you hear that the Tylers Empire has moved?”

“……Yes.”

The mont he heard that, Aron squeezed his eyes shut and pressed his forehead.

The Daon Kingdom did not share a border with the Tylers Empire.

However, one of the Daon Kingdom’s neighboring countries was a state subjugated by the Tylers Empire.

Thus, it was not difficult for the Empire to move its troops to the border of a subjugated nation.

From there, a woman gazing toward the Daon Kingdom slowly opened her mouth.

“It’s a smaller country than I expected?”

“I understand that as the military power of the Ragnar Family weakened, the national strength of the Daon Kingdom also plumted, Your Grace.”

“Ragnar—the descendants of the peerless hero who saved the continent, and of the strongest of their era, correct?”

“That is correct.”

The woman, her arms crossed, clicked her tongue as she turned her gaze to the man.

“Such an important family is falling, yet the Daon Royal Family left it alone. Why would they do that?”

“They likely entertained the foolish thought that it interfered with royal authority, forgetting that it is the Ragnar Family that protects the nation.”

Historically, the Ragnar Family had produced more Masters than the Daon Family.

If the Daon Family was responsible for governing the state, Ragnar had borne responsibility for military power itself.

By ignoring that history entirely and ruining the relationship, the fault of the Daon Family stood out all too clearly.

“Your Grace, then why did His Majesty send our 1st Legion to the border of the Daon Kingdom? I cannot understand it.”

“Is there really any need to understand it? One simply follows the orders given by one’s superior.”

The legions that the Tylers Empire took pride in were either arriving at the borders of each kingdom or already on the move.

In any case, the Holy Empire of Ru had a non-aggression clause, so it could not recklessly invade the Tylers Empire.

That was why Emperor Adrian Tylers could issue the order to go to the Daon Kingdom’s border.

And that was precisely the reason she—one of the Masters of the Tylers Empire—had arrived here.

Living up to her title of Spear of the Demon, Duke Luna stared coldly at the border.

‘This ti, no matter what…….’

Clenching both fists tightly, Duke Luna made a silent vow.
