Chapter 32 : Breaking the Pact (3)
The reason the Daon royal family had not treated Ragnar properly all this ti was because of the Pact Docunt.
No matter how powerful Ragnar was, as long as the Pact Docunt was in their possession, the royal family had nothing to worry about.
They believed Ragnar could never turn hostile toward the royal family.
However, that was nothing more than King Clover’s misconception.
“Daon Kingdom has betrayed its trust with Ragnar. I, Kyle Ragnar, the current Successor of the Frostfire, hereby proclaim it.”
Kyle, who had thrown the Pact Docunt he was holding into the air, drew his sword from his waist.
A vividly shining Blade, and around it, Frostfire blazed magnificently.
“I declare the dissolution of the pact between Ragnar and Daon.”
The fiercely burning white flas split the Pact Docunt apart.
Seeing the Pact Docunt reduced to ashes beyond recognition, King Clover collapsed onto the spot.
“…….”
“With this, the pact between the Daon Family and Ragnar is broken.”
“T-This……! Are you saying you will deny 200 years of history! Kyle Ragnar!”
“Do not forget that it was the Daon Family who first denied history and struck the family that stood together for 200 years.”
Kyle spoke calmly and drove the sword, manifesting Frostfire, straight into the floor of the Great Hall.
He had no intention whatsoever of ending the price for tornting the Ragnar Family with just this much.
“This is the punishnt given to the Daon Family for betraying Ragnar.”
Crack!
From the sword sharply embedded in the floor, Frostfire manifested and began to engulf the entire Great Hall.
Frostfire had two attributes.
Cold and heat.
Because these two extre forces were fused into one, it possessed even more exceptional and outstanding power.
It was the greatest strength that had allowed the Founding Head of the Family of Ragnar to never lose in battles against the Lords.
Since he could not burn down the Great Hall, Kyle elevated the opposing attribute—cold—to its extre.
As Frostfire enveloped the entire Great Hall, the temperature plumted rapidly.
Pulling the sword free, Kyle spoke in a low voice to King Clover, whose face was blank with emptiness.
“If you want to restore the Great Hall to its original state, co to Ragnar yourself.”
King Clover could not respond and only moved his lips soundlessly.
Kyle turned his back on him and was about to leave the Great Hall, but soon stopped and added one more remark.
“This is just in case, but the mont you move your army to threaten Ragnar, from that point on, the defense of the Monster Mountain Range will be terminated. You understand, don’t you? That Ragnar is also capable of breaking the pact made with the Lords.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Kyle approached Seros, who had been guarding the entrance of the Great Hall to prevent soldiers and knights from entering.
“Seros, let’s go.”
Not only the soldiers, but even the knights showed wary looks the mont they saw Kyle.
They did not know what had happened inside the Great Hall, nor could they possibly know what Kyle and Seros had done.
All they could tell was that anger was laced in King Clover’s voice echoing from within.
“Kyle Ragnar! A day will surely co when you regret what you did today!”
Kyle thoroughly ignored Clover’s curses coming from behind and bared his teeth at the soldiers blocking the entrance of the Great Hall.
“Open the way.”
When a radiant Blade manifested from Kyle’s sword, shock spread across the faces of the knights at the very front.
And from the sword of Seros standing beside him, a Blade could also be seen.
‘……Two Masters?’
‘How are we supposed to stop two Masters…….’
The knights, who had been rubbing their eyes in disbelief, panicked at the sight of Kyle walking toward them.
One knight, hastily making a judgnt, urgently raised his hand high.
“Open the way!”
They did not block Kyle’s path.
Kyle passed through the ranks of soldiers and exited the Great Hall, with Seros following behind him.
“My lord, where is our next destination?”
“We’re going to catch the rats. They’re probably preparing to strike .”
“Understood.”
“Above all, finding the whereabouts of the territory residents who were sold into slavery is important.”
At Kyle’s icy gaze, Seros lowered his head without a word.
After leaving the Imperial Palace and walking through the Royal Capital, Seros glanced back.
It was not tailing—one man was openly following behind them.
He was bothered by the noble he had seen in the Great Hall following them, but since Kyle said nothing, he tried to ignore it.
However, as the man continued following without end, Seros finally lost patience and sharply turned his head.
“Who are you?”
“Ah, nice to et you for the first ti. I am Viscount Rak, the lord of Rark Territory.”
“Viscount Rak?”
Since Pramo had occasionally spoken about Viscount Rak, Seros slightly lowered his guard.
“Why is soone who should be in Rark Territory here in the Royal Capital?”
“I ca at the request of the Head of the Family of Ragnar.”
“You an you ca here because of that request?”
“Yes. I ca to the Royal Capital to provide support so that there would be no issues when Lord Kyle entered the Imperial Palace.”
Listening quietly to Viscount Rak’s words, Kyle let out a soft chuckle.
“The Head of the Family worried unnecessarily.”
“I truly wished to et you at least once, Grand General.”
Viscount Rak smiled as he looked at Kyle.
The position that held all military authority of the Ragnar Family.
Although the na Kyle was not widely known within the kingdom, the northern territories were different.
After Kyle’s return, Pramo had inford the northern lords of the news.
Satisfied at the opportunity to see Kyle with his own eyes, Viscount Rak spoke in a voice filled with utmost respect.
“My na is Leiro Rak.”
“Nice to et you. I am Kyle Ragnar.”
As soon as the brief introductions ended, Kyle posed a question to Viscount Rak.
“Wouldn’t it be better for you to return to your territory rather than follow ?”
“Ah, you need not worry about the Teleportation Gate. I have already contacted them to suspend its operation.”
“Is that acceptable?”
“Of course. We will resu operation once you, Grand General, use the Teleportation Gate.”
Before Kyle entered the Imperial Palace, all asures he could take had already been prepared.
Of course, suspending the Teleportation Gate might deal a heavy blow to Rark Territory, but it was a far greater loss for Ragnar to fall into difficulty.
Understanding his intentions, Kyle nodded.
“Pramo often spoke of you. Please understand that I did not address you as Head of the Family.”
“Of course. How could I dare criticize soone who has ascended to Master. It is already an honor just to et you like this.”
At Viscount Rak’s action of bowing at a full ninety degrees, Kyle extended his hand.
“Shall we shake hands once?”
“Of course.”
As Kyle shook hands with Viscount Rak, his eyes sparkled.
And Seros, who had been watching the scene, ford a faint smile.
‘He always had that look in his eyes whenever he discovered a raw gem.’
Just as Kyle thought, whenever he encountered a talented individual with potential, it had beco a habit for him to wear an enigmatic expression.
Talent : Territory Managent A-rank, Military Science A-rank
Potential : Military Science S-rank, Economics S-rank
Unawakened Abilities : Talent Recruitnt S-rank, Crowd Control A-rank
‘Interesting. It feels as if talented individuals are gathering around Pramo.’
Kyle fixed his gaze on Viscount Rak.
There was no sign at all of the sense of privilege or pride one might expect from a lord.
Of course, that could have been because he was standing before Kyle, but judging by his face, it did not seem to be that kind of personality.
While Kyle was pondering this phenonon, Viscount Rak asked carefully.
“Is it perhaps because of the Sinoah rchant Guild that you are not leaving the Royal Capital imdiately?”
“Yes. You must have heard about the Sinoah rchant Guild from Pramo as well.”
“Of course. At the Head of the Family’s request, I have even raided a branch of the Sinoah rchant Guild and rescued Ragnar’s territory residents.”
“Is that so?”
“As a matter of fact, the northern lords have been pooling their strength to investigate the Sinoah rchant Guild. We have already identified the location of their main base.”
At Viscount Rak’s words, Kyle tilted his head slightly.
“I don’t recall Pramo ntioning that.”
“I do not know what the Head of the Family was thinking, but I definitely conveyed that we had found their main base.”
Kyle soon nodded as if it were nothing important.
There was no need to think too deeply about why Pramo had concealed the fact that the main base of the Sinoah rchant Guild had been found.
He clearly must not have had the ti to deliver the news.
Viscount Rak, who had been observing Kyle lost in thought, cautiously spoke up.
“May I guide you to the main base of the Sinoah rchant Guild?”
Instead of answering Viscount Rak’s goodwill directly, Kyle beckoned Seros with a gesture.
“Yes, my lord.”
“Ensure Viscount Rak’s safety. He will be of great help to Pramo.”
Viscount Rak’s eyes widened, never having dread that he would receive protection from a Master in his lifeti.
Seeing him like that, Kyle ford a faint smile.
“I will be relying on your guidance.”
“Understood, Grand General!”
The Great Hall that Kyle and Seros had left behind was nothing short of chaos.
Due to the rapidly dropping temperature, people had no choice but to hurriedly flee the Great Hall.
Even King Clover’s lips had turned bluish.
“Ugh…….”
“Your Majesty!”
Ministers draped in winter cloaks rushed toward King Clover.
Glaring at them one by one, King Clover ground his teeth and shouted.
“Duke Zaira! Imdiately turn the legions deployed at the border toward Ragnar!”
“Your Majesty, you must first regain your composure. The mont we withdraw the legions stationed at the border, we may be invaded by other nations.”
“Then what are you saying we should do! Are you telling
to endure this humiliation?!”
At his furious action of springing to his feet, Duke Zaira’s expression hardened.
He had just witnessed his son being treated as he was in the Great Hall.
He wanted nothing more than to rush out imdiately, mobilize all of his family’s private soldiers, and kill Kyle, but that was not a realistic option.
‘We would lose soldiers and knights the mont we deploy them. If only Kyle Ragnar alone had ascended to Master, we could confront him with full force, but…….’
The problem was the man standing beside Kyle.
The fact that Seros was also a Master was the worst part, and only now did he understand how the Ragnar Family, which had been on the brink of collapse, had begun to stand tall once more.
At this rate, the power structure of the once-peaceful Daon Kingdom would be shaken by Kyle Ragnar.
The mont that thought reached him, sothing flashed through Duke Zaira’s mind, and he bit his lip hard.
“……Your Majesty.”
“Speak.”
“According to records left in the history books, I recall that there were not one, but two Pact Docunts.”
At his words, King Clover recalled the other Pact Docunt kept by the Ragnar Family and let out a sigh.
He had forgotten.
Because there had been no possibility of the Pact Docunt held by Ragnar being activated, he had lived while forgetting about it.
“……Kyle Ragnar!”
If Ragnar’s Pact Docunt were to be activated, it would be disastrous.
They would not even be able to maintain the current situation of pressuring Ragnar, and the very foundation of the nation would be shaken.
They had to stop Ragnar at all costs.
Having realized this first, Duke Zaira fixed his gaze on King Clover with a grave expression.
“Your Majesty, I will mobilize the Royal Knight Order. No matter what it takes, we must seize the Pact Docunt that Ragnar possesses!”
They had to move the knights available for deploynt and secretly infiltrate Ragnar Territory.
With Kyle being in the Royal Capital right now, this was the only opportunity.
At Duke Zaira’s words, King Clover nodded repeatedly.
“Move at once. You must retrieve the Pact Docunt Ragnar holds, no matter what.”
Just as Duke Zaira was about to move, the face of one person suddenly flashed through his mind.
He looked around, but the figure that had co to mind was nowhere to be seen.
“Where is Viscount Rak?”
Although Viscount Rak possessed the wealthiest comrcial city in the north, he had no ties to central politics and had been thoroughly ignored.
However, at this mont, he was a figure whose whereabouts mattered more than anyone else’s.
Frowning deeply, Duke Zaira shouted at the ministers.
“Find Viscount Rak imdiately!”
