“Wait for us, we’ll go with you.” Tian Yu and Xue Xian hurriedly climbed down from the upper bunk at the words.
The three quickly found the steward responsible for the soft sleeper carriage and explained the situation to him. The steward imdiately contacted the train conductor and the railway police.
The conductor and railway police promptly checked the scene.
After reassuring the three, the railway police then investigated the carriage’s surveillance footage. It was quickly discovered that a girl sharing their compartnt had entered and exited after the three had left.
The railway police imdiately found the girl to inquire. She adamantly denied having done it.
However, there was surveillance evidence, and during that ti, she was the only one who went in. Moreover, there were footprints left on the clothes, and a simple comparison would reveal if they were hers.
The railway police stated that if she refused to cooperate and explain the truth, they would have no choice but to hand her over to the local law enforcent at the next station, who would continue the investigation.
Until the investigation was clear, her movents, being the primary suspect, would be restricted.
She and her boyfriend were just taking advantage of the holiday to travel, so they certainly wouldn’t want to waste ti on an investigation.
Reluctantly, the girl had no choice but to confess honestly that she was the one who threw the things and spilled the water.
Finally, through diation by the staff, the girl admitted her mistake and apologized to Sheng Ning’an and the others, along with compensating for the items she had dirtied and damaged.
Although unwilling, the girl could only comply in front of the railway police.
Sheng Ning’an’s bed was also changed to clean sheets by the train staff.
As for the girl, she was reassigned to another carriage.
Sheng Ning’an took the opportunity to negotiate with the train staff and bought an extra sleeper ticket, so there’d be no worry of soone else coming over midway.
Thinking that they wouldn’t have to see the couple again, everyone felt refreshed and in much better spirits.
It was Sheng Ning’an who suddenly thought about the ssage she sent Xu Weiran last night; he hadn’t replied after such a long ti.
Could sothing have happened?
Speak of the devil, and he doth appear. Just as she was thinking this, her phone screen suddenly lit up.
It was Xu Weiran calling her.
At this hour, it should be early morning overseas, right?
Sheng Ning’an pressed the answer button with suspicion.
“Where are you now?” ca Xu Weiran’s voice from the other end of the phone.
“? Still on the train!” Sheng Ning’an had ntioned to him before that she was going on a vacation during the holidays, though she hadn’t specified the itinerary.
“How much longer until you arrive?” Xu Weiran asked.
Sheng Ning’an replied, “I’m only halfway through the trip, won’t arrive until tomorrow afternoon.”
“Take care of yourself,” Xu Weiran instructed her, “Make sure to send your train number and the hotel you’re staying at in a bit. Coincidentally, I have a friend traveling there too, so in case anything happens, my friend can help out.”
Assuming he was concerned for her safety, Sheng Ning’an didn’t think much of it. After the call, she promptly sent him a photo of her train ticket and hotel reservation details.
After a nearly forty-hour journey, the three finally arrived at their travel destination.
As soon as they swiped their ID cards and exited the station, Sheng Ning’an received a call from Xu Weiran: “Have you exited the station?”
“Yeah, just passed the exit gate,” Sheng Ning’an replied.
Xu Weiran: “Then look ahead.”
Look ahead?
Look at what?
Sheng Ning’an looked up skeptically.
The next second, she saw a familiar figure standing in the crowd.
Holding a phone, the person smiled gently in her direction, standing out strikingly amongst the crowd.
