“Sorry,” she said, “it’s ti to clock out. If you’re not in a hurry, I can print it for you tomorrow.”
The other person raised their eyebrows and said, “Who said it’s not urgent? Didn’t I just tell you I need these by tomorrow morning? Just print them and leave them on my desk.”
“Oh, if it’s that urgent, then you’ll have to print it yourself.”
Sheng Ning’an wouldn’t cater to the other person’s demands.
She directly placed the stack of docunts back into the other person’s hands, then picked up the paperwork she had just printed and prepared to leave.
The other person probably didn’t expect Sheng Ning’an would refuse, froze for a mont, and then shouted loudly when they snapped back to reality, “Stop right there.”
The agitated voice made others turn to look.
Sheng Ning’an turned around, “Is there anything else?”
“What’s with your attitude?” the other person demanded.
Sheng Ning’an didn’t answer but instead lifted her wrist, glanced at the ti on her watch, watched the second hand complete a circle, then lowered her wrist and said, “Sorry, it’s already after hours. If there’s anything, we can talk tomorrow.”
The female colleague was montarily speechless, then glared at her, “You’re just a re intern, and you dare to refuse work assigned by other colleagues?”
Sheng Ning’an: “I said it’s off-hours now; I’m just rejecting unreasonable work tasks.”
The latter’s face turned cold, “What is reasonable, and what is unreasonable? Don’t forget you’re just an intern. Interns should be perceptive and do whatever they’re told.”
“Forcing employees to work overti during off-hours is unreasonable,” Sheng Ning’an said.
“As far as I know, Zhao Yi Technology has clear regulations that everyone must complete their tasks within the designated hours and cannot be forced or personally demanded to stay for overti. Do you want to get the employee handbook and show it to you?”
“No need!” The other person’s face looked sour.
So she spent the entire afternoon studying the employee handbook?
The latter felt embarrassed, clearly displeased with Sheng Ning’an, “You’re just a re intern, don’t think that having Assistant Zhao back you up ans you can disregard everyone else. Let tell you, at Zhao Yi, it’s all about personal ability, not just relying on connections to get ahead.” After finishing, they angrily grabbed their things and returned to their desk.
Sheng Ning’an didn’t imdiately return to her desk but instead glanced in Shi Zhen’s direction. The latter t her gaze, quickly lowered her head, pretending to tidy up.
Everyone’s attitude towards her changed after she ca out of the break room.
Before, although people speculated about her status, they were all smart enough to leave her alone until they confird who she was connected to.
Neither ordering her around nor offending her.
But clearly, Shi Zhen must have said sothing to everyone, which led to a shift from being cautious to disregard.
Though she wasn’t sure exactly what was said, she could guess to so extent.
Indeed, there are no gratuitous favors in the workplace; a small slip can lead to being stabbed in the back.
