After leaving the cafeteria, Sheng Ning’an parted ways with the two and left.
Zhou Xian watched his figure until Xiao Yue’s voice ca from beside him, "You know, since you two were in the sa high school, why didn’t you confess back then? You just let soone else take the lead."
"Enough, keep your curiosity to yourself." Zhou Xian looked away and turned toward the direction of the dormitory.
Xiao Yue followed behind him, continuing to babble, "If you ask , you’re just being coy, playing the unrequited love ga for no good reason. What a missed opportunity you let slip away."
They say fortune favors those who are closest to the source, having such a face and the halo of being number one, early confession might have ant success.
Zhou Xian’s footsteps paused for a mont, then he continued to walk forward.
In his mind, he couldn’t help but recall the first ti they t.
Strictly speaking, it wasn’t their first eting, but rather the first ti he saw her.
They had been in the sa school since middle school, and Zhou Xian first saw her at the start of seventh grade.
On the first day of registration, most people were accompanied by one or two parents, yet her side was surrounded by four or five people.
Her whole family had co out in force.
That day, Zhou Xian was sent to school by a driver.
His dad had an important eting that morning, and his mom had an important patient she couldn’t leave, leaving no one available to accompany him to school.
Actually, he was already used to it!
From a young age, his parents had been absent more than once.
Most of the ti, only the driver and the nanny were with him.
He thought he could accept it calmly.
But that day, watching her arrive at school surrounded by so many people, watching her family mbers arguing over who would go with her, he admitted he felt envy and jealousy.
After returning ho, for the first ti, he tentatively asked his parents to spare a day over the weekend to spend with him.
But, his parents, finding it difficult, told him they didn’t have the ti, that they both had more important things to do than him. After that, he never made similar requests to his parents again.
At that ti, he understood that his parents loved him, but not that much.
The second ti they t was a month later.
It was raining heavily after school that day, and many students had already left. Yet, she stood under the corridor of the teaching building, occasionally frowning at the rainwater on the ground.
At first, he thought she didn’t have an umbrella and hesitated whether to lend her his own.
Just as he was about to approach, he saw a boy with a black umbrella appear. He saw her sigh in relief and call the boy "Young Uncle" with a joyful tone, complaining about sothing to him.
He watched him help her with the umbrella, watched him pull out brand new rain boots for her to change into, watched her leave carrying her own shoes...
They t again during the school sports event, where he saw a girl mistakenly take her uniform.
He saw her, without a blink, toss the uniform they had swapped back into the school’s trash can right in front of the other girl.
At that mont, he thought, no wonder she was a spoiled princess, imperious and uncontrollable.
It wasn’t until half a year later, on another rainy day, when he went to a convenience store to buy sothing, that he ran into her again.
Just like that ti at school, she was standing at the convenience store doorway, sheltering from the rain.
It seed like she was waiting for soone from her family to pick her up.
Just as he was about to leave, he saw her suddenly dash into the rain...
