Chapter 669: Chapter 669 [Extra] The Person You Need to Explain to Isn’t

“What if I get rejected?” Li Jingjing was still very worried.

“If you get rejected, then you get rejected, it’s not the end of the world. At least you tried, and even if you get rejected, you won’t have any regrets, right? If you don’t go, I’ll go.” Her roommate teased her on purpose.

“Then… I’ll give it a try.” It took her quite so ti, but Li Jingjing finally made up her mind.

“That’s more like it! If you’re really scared, I could go with you tomorrow. Don’t study tonight, get to bed early, and maybe put on a face mask before sleeping. Try to be in your best shape when you see him tomorrow.”

“Okay!”

The next day, at noon.

Li Jingjing and her roommate stood at the entrance to Jing University’s laboratory.

“Are we really going?” Li Jingjing hesitated.

“We’re already here!” her roommate encouraged her.

Li Jingjing took a deep breath and then stepped forward, greeting the person at the entrance, “Hello!”

“Who are you looking for?” the other party asked after sizing up the two of them.

“Um, I’m looking for Xu Weiran.”

“Looking for Mr. Xu? Please wait a mont.” The person was about to pick up the phone when he saw soone coming from inside and hurriedly called out, “Mr. Xu, just in ti, two beauties are looking for you.”

Xu Weiran was about to go for lunch when he heard this and stopped to look over.

Having just seen them the previous night, Xu Weiran recognized them imdiately, “It’s you. Do you need sothing from ?”

Li Jingjing beca inexplicably nervous upon seeing him and couldn’t say a word for a long ti.

Her roommate glared at her in frustration and then spoke for her, “The thing is, you helped Jingjing the other day, and she hasn’t had the chance to properly thank you, so she was wondering if she could treat you to a al?”

“No need!” Xu Weiran refused, looking at Li Jingjing, “Last ti, it was just a small effort, and I also took your dicine fee. You don’t need to go out of your way to invite for a al.”

“But that’s different,” her roommate said, “The dicine fee is one thing, showing gratitude is another. If it hadn’t been for you that night, we don’t know what would have happened to her. You basically saved her life. It’s only right to treat you to a al.”

Li Jingjing nodded in agreent.

“Really, there’s no need!” Xu Weiran declined again and again.

Just then, laboratory colleagues also ca out for lunch and noticed Li Jingjing and her roommate. Their gaze shifted to Xu Weiran, and they teased with a smile, “Ran, are these two beauties here for you? Could it be they’re your girlfriends?”

This kid has been glued to his phone whenever he’s had the ti recently; it’s clear he’s in love.

“No, you’ve got it all wrong.” Xu Weiran explained.

Following the misunderstanding that she was Xu Weiran’s girlfriend, Li Jingjing blushed and said, “I’m sorry, did I disturb you?”

“No, it’s okay. However, what happened is in the past. We are neighbors, and it’s only right to help out in a ti of need. There’s no need for you to go out of your way to thank !”

“Alright then, we won’t bother you anymore.” Seeing that he was repeatedly declining, Li Jingjing felt a bit disappointed and awkward. Eventually, she and her roommate hurriedly left.

Xu Weiran was about to head to the cafeteria but stopped when he saw Sheng Yeli standing at the entrance of the laboratory.

Not knowing how long Yeli had been there and recalling the teasing from his colleagues, he felt an inexplicable tightness in his chest.

“Don’t misunderstand.” Xu Weiran instinctively started to explain, “They’re just my neighbors…”

Before he could finish his explanation, Sheng Yeli coldly cut him off, “Who they are is none of my business, and you don’t need to explain to !” With that, he walked past Xu Weiran.
