Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Is Your Face Cramping?
After celebrating her tenth birthday, the two little ones advanced to fifth grade.
Learning beca more difficult and there was more material to study, but for struggling student Zhao, it made no difference.
The only impact might have been an increase in howork, which affected her sleep at night!
“Shen Zhaozhao!”
Half-asleep, Shen Zhaozhao was nudged awake and looked up at her deskmate Sang Youyou with a pair of bewildered eyes.
Sang Youyou squeezed her eyes toward the direction of the teacher’s desk, signaling her to look that way.

However, the two failed to communicate with their glances, Shen Zhaozhao didn’t catch her hint, reached out, cupped the other’s face, and leaned in to ask, “Youyou, is your face cramping?”
Abandoning her attempts at eye contact, Sang Youyou resorted to mouthing words: “Look, up, there.”
“What are you saying?” Sadly, they were completely out of sync.
“She said, ‘look up there.'” Only when an angry voice finally rose, suppressed with rage.
A jolt went through Shen Zhaozhao as if her spiritual cover was struck, and her mind suddenly cleared.
She stiffly turned around, facing the direction of the teacher’s desk.
She saw their horoom and math teacher, with a face darker than the bottom of a pot, bellowing at her, “Shen Zhaozhao, you’re sleeping in class again, out you go to stand as punishnt.”
“Oh!” The little girl drooped her head and shuffled slowly to the outside.
Sang Youyou sent her a look of morose solidarity.
“And you!”
The next second, the teacher’s voice rang out again from the podium, pointing at her, “Snacking in class, you roll out too.”
Taken by surprise when called out, Sang Youyou froze, her expression turning to stone.
Outside the classroom, the two girls stood in a row.
Their heads together, they whispered, not quite appearing to be punished, more like they were out on a breath of fresh air.
“You even dare to sleep during the horoom teacher’s class, you’re aweso, my Zhao,” Sang Youyou said with a look of admiration.
“I didn’t want to sleep, but his voice is just like a lullaby!” Shen Zhaozhao yawned, squeezing out a couple of tears of exhaustion, her fair little face filled with an expression of abject despair.
“And weren’t you snacking during his class too?”
Patting her stomach, Sang Youyou confessed, “I was hungry, okay? By the way, how did he notice?” She had been so careful.
It took her eight bites to finish a single cookie!
Shen Zhaozhao glanced at the dark crumbs around her mouth and solemnly advised, “Next ti you sneak snacks, rember to wipe your mouth clean.”
Realizing it belatedly, Sang Youyou swiped at her mouth, then turned gossiping, “Did you hear? Yao Xinxin from Class Two likes Sheng Chuyi and even asked soone to deliver a love letter for her!”
“What?” Shen Zhaozhao’s eyes widened, the quintessential gossip-loving expression on her face, “Isn’t Yao Xinxin the class president? Even class presidents write love letters?”
“Anyway, so classmates saw it. But it seems like Chuyi didn’t accept it and even had the ssenger return it.”
“What happened next?”
“Then Yao Xinxin went to find him herself! She asked him to step outside, but Chuyi ignored her. It happened during the class when we went to the bathroom,” Sang Youyou said with a face full of regret for missing the drama.
“Isn’t that really embarrassing for her?” Shen Zhaozhao felt a pang of sympathy.
After thinking for a mont, Sang Youyou nodded in agreent, “It’s pretty embarrassing.”
As they were discussing fervently, suddenly a large shadow fell over them. The horoom teacher had appeared before them out of nowhere, his entire face darkened, his eyes flickering with fire.
Sang Youyou instinctively shrank her neck, too frightened to speak.
Belatedly, Shen Zhaozhao raised her head.
