Chapter 228: Chapter 228 Don’t be angry anymore! Chapter 228: Chapter 228 Don’t be angry anymore! After the two of them finished eating the cake, Ye Zhen stood up, tossed the box into a nearby trash can, and said to Shen Zhaozhao, “Let’s go!”

On the other side, Sheng Chuyi ca downstairs in the morning only to find that the girl had already left. On the table, there was a note: “Don’t be angry anymore, there’s a surprise I prepared for you in the fridge!”

A trace of puzzlent flitted across Sheng Chuyi’s face as she walked over and opened the fridge, only to find an ugly cake inside. It was clearly made by that girl.

On top, there was a drawing of a ghastly face with the words behind it: “Don’t be angry!”

Sheng Chuyi couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle.

She tried a piece of the cake: It was far inferior to those made by cake shops!

Nevertheless, she ate it all up, one bite at a ti.

Ye Zhen took Shen Zhaozhao to the place where she used to live.

There, Shen Zhaozhao encountered a completely different side of Jing City.

Run-down streets, narrow and old alleys, drunkards sleeping by the roadside in broad daylight, and stray cats basking in the sun at the street corner.

It was hard to imagine that such a place still existed in a bustling tropolis filled with tall buildings and the dissolute life of the rich and powerful.

“This is where I grew up!” Ye Zhen said.

Shen Zhaozhao was both surprised and not surprised.

She had heard that the other person grew up in the commoner’s area and thought it would be just a standard street, a life of the common folk like her own family.

But it seed to be worse than she had imagined.

Ye Zhen took the initiative to explain: “My family didn’t start out living here, but after my foster father’s business failed, we had to mortgage our original ho and moved here with .”

This was the place with the cheapest rent in all of Jing City.

After saying that, she walked over to a drunk man by the roadside and said, “Get up, it’s ti to go ho!”

Shen Zhaozhao looked at the man on the ground with surprise.

She saw the drunkard half-open his eyes, revealing a face covered in stubble, evidently not well-kept for a long ti.

The sunlight was sowhat dazzling on his face, and with squinted eyes, the drunkard looked at Ye Zhen in front of him and asked, “You damn girl, why are you here? Who let you co back?”

“Just ca back to see if you were dead yet,” Ye Zhen replied coldly.

The drunk man sat up and snorted, “Don’t tell you got kicked out?”

Ye Zhen replied, “Don’t worry, not yet, but it’s coming soon!” After saying that, she turned and walked to a nearby rental house. The door was unlocked, so she pushed it open and went inside.

The drunkard watched her back for a while before lazily getting up.

The house was tiny, less than forty square ters, which was divided into several small compartnts.

It was a ss inside, clearly not tidied for a long ti.

After entering, Ye Zhen first opened a window to ventilate, then she opened the room at the far end and said to Shen Zhaozhao, “You sit for a while, I’ll tidy up first.”

The room at the end must have been Ye Zhen’s old room. It was not large, barely fitting a single bed and a desk, but it was the only place in the house that looked inhabitable.

“Let help you,” Shen Zhaozhao offered.

The rental house seed small, but it was too chaotic inside. Cleaning up wouldn’t be easy; two people would certainly be faster than one.

Ye Zhen glanced at her and said, “Okay!” Then she handed her the rag she was holding and started to deal with the garbage in the room.

The drunkard walked in, directly fetched a bowl of tap water to drink, and went back to another room after finishing.

Ye Zhen didn’t bother with him.

The two spent over an hour to get the room clean.
