Shen Zhaozhao didn’t ntion how Jiang Nian was bullied at school nor that she hadn’t gone to school for four days, she just said, “It’s okay, Auntie, we just had an agreent to go to the bookstore together today, and since we couldn’t wait for her, we ca over to check.”
“Why are you here?” As she finished speaking, Jiang Nian’s voice suddenly rang out from behind them.
“Nian Nian, you’re back? They said they are your classmates, they ca looking for you.”
“Mom, I’m going out with them for a while,” Jiang Nian said, then took the lead and started walking outside.
Shen Zhaozhao and the others exchanged glances, then said to the woman, “Auntie, we’ll be leaving now.”
“Okay, rember to co visit our ho when you have ti.” The woman called out warmly.
After leaving the small cottage and walking so distance, Shen Zhaozhao finally spoke: “Jiang Nian, where have you been these past few days? Why haven’t you been coming to school?”
“You haven’t told my mom I haven’t been going to school, have you?” Jiang Nian asked.
“No,” Shen Zhaozhao shook her head, “but your mom seems to suspect sothing.”
“It’s okay, I’ll talk to her about it.”
“You?” Shen Zhaozhao was at a loss for what else to ask for a mont.
“I went to work!” Jiang Nian said on her own initiative.
“You all know that the house we are living in was bought by Jiang Youyi’s dad. The money for my school, food, and clothes all co from him. I don’t want to spend his money anymore…”
Shen Zhaozhao: “So you wanted to work and earn money yourself?”
