Sweet slice-of-life love story: Wife, Let's love again Chapter 270 - 266: This is it
The night was deep, and all was quiet.
The room was brightly lit, and He Fang, holding the white liquor she bought downstairs, tirelessly rubbed it over Qin Guanglin’s body.
Thankfully, the family always kept fever-reducing dicine on hand. After giving him two pills and cooling him down physically, he seed less uncomfortable, and his tightly furrowed brows had slightly relaxed.
She stayed busy until after 3 a.m., and when He Fang pulled out the thermoter, seeing the temperature at 37.5 degrees Celsius, she breathed a sigh of relief, having marginally managed to keep his fever under control.
She couldn’t sleep well the rest of the night, occasionally getting up to check Qin Guanglin’s forehead temperature with her hand. Thankfully, he didn’t continue to run a fever. As dawn began to break, she roused a groggy Qin Guanglin and dressed him like a child, dragging him downstairs and into the car to go to the hospital.
"I’m fine... just really tired. I’ll be okay after so sleep," Qin Guanglin still stubbornly insisted in the car, with his eyes closed and muttering.
He Fang didn’t engage in conversation, and they arrived at the hospital. Early in the morning, no one was registering, so they were quickly seen at the fever clinic.
Having kept up with his fitness for nearly a year, Qin Guanglin hadn’t even had a common cold, let alone a fever. This sudden high fever had really scared her.
After running around until 8 in the morning and getting all the tests done, He Fang’s complexion finally improved slightly as they left the hospital with the prescribed dication.
"See, I told you..."
"Shut up! Can’t you take things slow? Do you have to rush to finish everything so quickly?"
"Uh..."
"Take this!" He Fang, irritated, stuffed a stead bun she bought at the hospital entrance into his hand. "Hurry up and eat it, then take your dicine."
"Don’t be so fierce..." Qin Guanglin sheepishly accepted the stead bun and took a big bite, then offered it to her, "You eat too."
"I’m full of anger."
"..."
"Drink water, don’t choke." He Fang handed him the mineral water fiercely, still holding the dicine, waiting for him to finish the bun before taking it.
Qin Guanglin shook his head, still feeling sowhat groggy, and pulled He Fang towards the parking lot, "Let’s go to the car... I’m so tired, might as well eat while we go back, still haven’t slept enough—you didn’t sleep well either, right? You look terrible; we should head back and get so rest."
"Hmph, if I had slept properly, you’d be waiting to turn into an idiot with that fever."
"It’s not that serious..."
After eating the bun in the car and swallowing down the dication, Qin Guanglin yawned, feeling sleepy again, and barely made it ho where he collapsed onto the bed, hugging He Fang without letting go and fell deeply asleep.
When he woke again, the room was lit, and outside the window, it was pitch black—it was already dark again.
"I thought you were going to sleep until tomorrow. Hungry enough to wake up?" He Fang, hearing movent, looked over from the desk and got up to get so food.
"Had to pee," he said.
Qin Guanglin followed her, hurried to the bathroom with a whoosh of running water, and then felt the hunger hit him.
Luckily, He Fang had already prepared rice, keeping it warm, fearing he’d wake up starved. She filled a large bowl for him and put it on the table, then went back to the kitchen to warm up the dishes.
"I can’t imagine how you’ll sleep tonight, having slept from last night until now... it’s past nine already, only interruption was going to the hospital. Are you a pig or what?"
"If you hadn’t given that bottle of water this morning, I could’ve slept until tomorrow morning."
Qin Guanglin, still feeling tired on the sofa, hadn’t fully recovered from last night’s fever or the exhaustion of the past half month.
Seeing his listless appearance, He Fang felt a twinge of heartache and muttered, "We’ll see if you dare do that again, always trying to prove yourself..."
"I won’t, I won’t," Qin Guanglin quickly shook his head, "I’ll never work on that project again. It’s just too draining. I’ll just stick to drawing comics."
He had decided to quit last night as he put away his pen.
Laying on the couch, limp as a lazybones, waiting for He Fang to heat up the food, Qin Guanglin filled his belly with a bowl of rice and only then started to feel so energy returning.
After a full al, coerced by He Fang to take two more fever-reducing pills to prevent relapse, he lay back down on the bed and unwittingly fell asleep again.
He Fang leaned over the desk to tidy up her things, then turned around and saw Qin Guanglin had fallen asleep again. She tiptoed to tuck him in properly, clutching her pajamas as she went out for a shower, then blow-dried her hair alone. Checking the ti and seeing that it was already past eleven, she turned off the lights and climbed into bed to sleep.
...
Sunday.
Early in the morning, the sun had just risen.
"Ah~!"
Qin Guanglin sat up and stretched vigorously, as if he had co back to life, filled with energy, no longer looking weak and listless like he had been for the past few days.
"What’re you screaming about so early?" He Fang grumbled as she turned over, pulling the blanket toward herself, feeling like she hadn’t had enough sleep.
She had slept too much during the previous day, and although she had gone to bed before midnight, she had struggled to fall asleep and didn’t know how late she had finally drifted off.
"I’m resurrected!" Qin Guanglin said energetically as he leaned in to nuzzle her cheek with his mouth. "Hungry? I’ll go buy breakfast."
"Annoying!"
He Fang kicked her legs in frustration and opened her eyes to glare at him. "You didn’t hear complaining when you were sleeping."
"Alright, alright, keep sleeping then."
Qin Guanglin lay back down, slightly chagrined, not wanting to provoke her further and get bitten, staying as quiet as a mouse.
The weekend seed to pass by, with one day slept away, leaving only one day of rest. It felt like a bit of a loss.
After about ten minutes of silence in the room, He Fang sat up, annoyed again, "Now I can’t sleep! It’s all your fault!"
"..."
Qin Guanglin blinked and reached out to caress her feet, "Well then, let’s just not sleep..."
"Don’t touch ."
He Fang was still irked, flailing her legs against his.
On this early weekend morning, the two of them fought under the blankets, and before they knew it...
It was already noon.
The joy of a couple’s bedroom is the spice of life, a beneficial supplent as long as it’s not excessive.
By the ti both of them got up at noon after a good half-month of not truly enjoying life, they looked noticeably refreshed. Their faces were rosy and glowing.
Just after lunch, He Fang couldn’t wait to go to the studio to see what the painting that took half a month’s effort looked like. When she got to the Qin family’s house, she stopped Qin Guanglin just as he was about to open the studio door.
"Wait for your mom to co back and see it together."
Qin Guanglin thought for a mont, put the key away and called Qin’s Mom to ask where she had gone right after lunch. It didn’t take long for Qin’s Mom to hurry back.
"Is it ti for the reveal?"
Qin’s Mom looked expectant, her curiosity building for half a month, scratching her heart and itching to figure out what this kid was up to. Now the feeling was almost like waiting for a lottery draw.
"Get ready." Qin Guanglin smiled, leading them into the studio and stood in front of the canvas covered by a black cloth, sowhat proudly pinching the corner of the fabric.
"I’ve been working on this painting these days."
The black cloth glided off, unveiling the oil painting more than a ter tall.
Every inch of this canvas, every stroke of color, was his dedication.
The azure sky, the ethereal clouds, the silhouette of coconut trees in the distance, travelers here and there; every detail was delineated clearly.
He Fang, in her white dress and straw hat, barefoot on the sand, one hand lifting her skirt, the other brushing away hair blown by the wind from her face, stood bathed in sunshine, with a charming smile.
