Sweet slice-of-life love story: Wife, Let's love again Chapter 229 - 225: Complete Victory
Every festival has its own significance.
Significance is given by people, so it can also be changed by them.
Christmas is just like that.
Originally ant to commorate the birth of Jesus, now, it only serves two purposes.
rchants use it for promotions and events, and couples take the opportunity to have fun.
Guanglin didn’t rest during his lunch break, worked overti to finish the day’s work, and went ho early to spend quality ti with He Fang to make up for the recent three months of neglect.
When he opened the door, He Fang was lying on the couch, her legs dangling over the backrest, idly chatting on the phone.
"Uh... You call Yunyun and the others, why should I accompany you when I have a boyfriend? They are all single, so it’s okay to et... I still have to accompany my boyfriend, I don’t want to be with you —— um, okay, let it be."
"What’s up?" Guanglin asked casually after she hung up.
"A friend, going to et her boyfriend’s parents on New Year’s Day, she’s nervous and wanted to accompany her, but I said no... You ca ho early today."
He Fang turned over and sat up properly on the couch, putting her phone aside, then opened her arms toward Guanglin, "Hug."
"From now on, I’ll co back this early." Guanglin hugged her and nuzzled her cheek, "Are you hungry?"
"It should be asking you... You didn’t even tell in advance when you got off work, I’ve already chopped everything, it’ll be quick to start cooking."
"Aren’t we going out to eat?"
"I wanted to eat at ho, it’s been a while since we ate here."
He Fang shuffled halfway to the kitchen but was pulled back by Guanglin. He took a bag from behind the couch and opened it.
"I bought a pair of boots for you, see if they fit first." Guanglin pressed her shoulders and sat her down again, knelt down, took out the shoes to adjust, and started fitting her feet into them.
"Does your mom know you help wear shoes all the ti?"
"Why should she know about that... You have to take good care of these feet, otherwise, if they freeze it won’t be pretty, got it?"
"Take care of them?"
"You just use them to walk, but I am..."
"Ugh! You’re never serious."
Guanglin chuckled as he helped her put on both shoes, clapped his hands and stood up, "Walk around and see."
"They look quite nice." He Fang took a few steps and looked down at the white boots edged with fur, feeling incredibly soft and warm.
"Who asked if they looked good, do they fit? Are they comfortable?"
"Yeah, quite warm, thanks, Classmate Qin." He Fang hopped lightly twice and leaned in to kiss Guanglin, but he held up his hand to stop her.
"It’s a solemn apology for making you angry last night."
"Fine, I accept your apology."
"From now on, don’t get mad so easily. If you’re upset, just say it. Going through bank cards... I thought you were going to split with ." Guanglin had a scare last night. This was really the first ti he saw He Fang angry — not counting the ti in He City, this was the first ti just between the two of them.
Thinking back, it was indeed too much. Usually, he ca ho after nine at night, sotis even staying up till eleven or twelve, then having to get up early the next day for work.
But no matter how late, the light was always on in the room; He Fang always wanted to wait for him to co back before she would go to sleep.
"If you promise sothing, you have to do it. You can’t go back on your word." He Fang pouted, turning toward the kitchen, "You still owe one thing you haven’t done yet. How can you just break your promises?"
"I did it, didn’t I... No kiss then?" Guanglin asked.
"I thought you didn’t want it."
He Fang ca back and kissed him on the cheek, "Now sit tight and wait for dinner."
"Okay."
Guanglin finally felt relieved about the issue that had been bothering him all day. He comfortably went back to the bedroom and started working on his personal blog.
Their first quarrel was over before it even started.
After dinner, the couple thought about going out for a walk, but the mont they stepped outside and felt the chill, they looked at each other and retreated back into the house.
"It’s so cold... Let’s just stay in and watch a movie."
"Uh, staying at ho is pretty nice. We can just be a couple of hobodies, which is great."
The two cowards quickly ran back to the bedroom, stripped off their clothes, and snuggled under the blankets to warm up. Guanglin was kicked out of bed by He Fang to go find a movie.
"What do you want to watch?"
"Whatever."
"Let see..." Guanglin fiddled with the mouse, smacking his lips and said, "Everyone else goes out on Christmas to shop, eat, watch movies, and sleep all in one go, while we stay at ho, eat, watch movies, and sleep..."
"Is that different?"
"Hiding at ho is more comfortable. It’d be insane to go outside and freeze in this cold weather... We wouldn’t do that stupid thing.
Have you seen the movie starring Tony and Tang Wei?"
"The edited one or the uncut?"
"What are you talking about? Would I find one that’s missing parts?" Guanglin found the file, clicked play, and swiftly snuggled back under the blankets, planning to cuddle up with He Fang and learn a thing or two.
But unfortunately,
halfway through the movie, as they were debating whether it was real or fake, a ringtone from the cellphone on the bedside table interrupted them.
"Hello?"
"..."
"Okay, I’ll be there now."
Guanglin frowned, reluctantly kissed He Fang on the face, and got up, saying, "Sothing’s co up, I need to step out."
"What’s happened?"
"That friend I ntioned before, Sun Wen, got into a fight. I need to go... Don’t get up, it’s nothing. The fight is already over. I just need to go to the police station to pick soone up." He put on his coat and walked to the desk, "Do you want to keep watching, or should we watch together when I get back?"
"Watching alone is no fun. I’ll wait for you... Why do they always involve you in these fights? Really..."
He Fang muttered discontentedly. Guanglin shrugged, sat on the chair, and bent down to put on his shoes, saying, "He only has a few close friends here in Luo City. It’s either or that kid Xiao Yu. Soone has to pick him up—Stop complaining. I should be back soon... no promises, though. If you feel sleepy, just go to bed first."
"Be careful going out so late at night."
"Will do, I’m off."
After getting ready, Guanglin did not take the bus. Instead, he hailed a taxi on the roadside and headed straight for Shengtian Police Station.
The call was vague, only ntioning that Sun Wen was at the police station because of a fight and needed him to co over. He was a bit worried that Sun Wen might have encountered Chen Rui and had a conflict.
After arriving at the address and seeing the three people inside, Guanglin finally breathed a sigh of relief, then sighed again.
It was unexpected, yet not surprising.
After more than half an hour,
Sun Wen, with disheveled and torn clothes and blood on his face, followed Guanglin out of the police station, head hung low without saying a word.
"Didn’t suffer any losses, did you?"
"No."
"That’s good."
"Thanks." Sun Wen took out a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, "Sorry for troubling you so late at night."
He hadn’t wanted to make that call. He tried calling Xiao Yu first, but he wasn’t in town, having gone out to play from the evening until now, so he had no choice but to call Guanglin.
Guanglin waved it off, "Why ntion it? It’s fine as long as you’re okay."
"I’m fine, what could go wrong?"
Sun Wen smirked, lowered his head, and exhaled a puff of smoke, "I won the fight, and it was who beat that guy up, haha... I totally won."
"Hm?" Guanglin glanced sideways; this wasn’t quite what he had expected.
"I didn’t see it coming... Lin, I really couldn’t have imagined."
Sun Wen took a deep breath, looked up at the crescent moon in the sky, and laughed, "Haha... I’ve beco the third wheel."
"Shit!" He turned his head and spat furiously.
"I actually beca the third wheel!"
