"Keep quiet and follow ," Leader Rose ordered and led them to the far side of the bar.
They walked quietly, keeping to the sides of the bar so as not to bother any of the custors. As Rayne walked, she tried her best to look at everyone's face to see if she could recognize anyone here.
Since the room was darkly lit, she had a hard ti seeing people's faces clearly, but a sudden argunt caught her attention.
"Don't you know who I am! I'm Dillon's woman, now get your hands off !"
Rayne turned her head to look at the source of the shriek, only to find Krissy stomping her foot angrily in front of an older man.
He looked at Krissy angrily before forcefully grabbing her wrist. "You'd better shut up right now. I don't care who's woman you were, but right now you belong to ! Got it?" Nᴇw ɴovel chaptᴇrs are published on novelꞁire
Krissy tried to pull her hand away, but the man's grip was too strong.
Rayne watched the scene, deciding if she should help or not. But before she could make a decision, Leader Rose hurried them along. "Co, we mustn't be late. That would look very poorly on you."
Rayne cast one last glance at Krissy, noticing the expensive clothing she was wearing.
This type of lifestyle suits her.
They walked over to a door leading to a private room. Leader Rose knocked on it with graceful movents until the door opened from inside.
"What is it?" An intimidating guard poked his head out, flashing all of them a nacing look.
Leader Rose wasn't intimidated at all and smiled back. "I've brought the beauty your boss requested. Please bring her to him."
The guard nodded, but his expression remained frigid.
"Go on, Tamara. Do your best!" Leader Rose cheered her on as she gently pushed her forward. Tamara looked slightly hesitant, but determination must have settled in because the next mont she took a wide stride and waltzed inside the room like she owned the place.
Rayne shook her head internally. If anything, Tamara certainly had the 'go-getter' attitude.
After Tamara disappeared, Leader Rose turned to face Rayne. "Okay, follow . Your appointnt is upstairs in the VIP lounge."
VIP? That's a good sign.
Rayne followed Leader Rose through the lounge until they reached a guarded staircase. "I have a beauty requested by Leader Tristan."
Unlike the previous guard, this ti her tone was much more respectful. The guards both looked her over before one of them walked up the stairs.
A few minutes later, he ca back down and nodded to the other guard.
"Follow . Just you," he said, pointing at Rayne. "Leader Rose, we'll take things from here."
Rayne took a step forward to follow the guard up the spiral staircase. Her heart pounded inside her chest. While she was nervous about the eting, she hoped that the stars would align and that this would lead to Damien.
The mont she made it to the top of the staircase, she found herself standing in a very luxurious VIP lounge. The vibe up here was much calr than the one downstairs. She imdiately spotted the scholarly man sitting on a while leather couch in the far corner of the room.
That must be Leader Tristan.
"Co." The guard beside her walked in front of her, leading her straight to the lounging man.
When they finally arrived, Leader Tristan waved the guard away and looked over her. Rayne stood perfectly still and watched him carefully inspect her.
"Who chose your outfit?" he asked suddenly.
"I did," replied Rayne.
He humd slightly in response. "What did you do for work before the disaster?"
"I worked as an architect and designer."
He replied with another hum.
Seconds turned to minutes. Rayne continued to stand in the suffocating silence. She watched Tristan take a sip of his drink before turning to look at her again. He didn't seem to be in any rush and would easily make her stand there all night if he wanted.
"Have you ever dated a man nad Dillon?"
Rayne froze. Her stomach dropped, and she felt the blood in her body go cold.
Does he know?
The system panel was already out in front of her. All she had to do was tap on the image of the gun.
"No."
Though everything inside of her was chaotic, her response ca out very calm and uninterested.
Tristan studied her expression closely, looking for any signs of deceit. But after a few monts of deep observation, he didn't find any.
"I see," he replied calmly before taking another sip of his drink. "What do you think of the other girls in your beauty program?"
The question took Rayne by surprise. She wasn't sure how she should answer this question. The correct response was probably to say sothing nice about them.
"I think they're shallow and don't understand the danger they're in."
Tristan raised his eyebrow. Her response was surprising.
"So you believe that you're in danger right now?" he probed further.
"Yes. Right now, you could easily say that I'm useless and toss to the wolves, making my life worse than death."
Tristan let out a low chuckle. "That's true. It's refreshing to see soone with brains for once. Co with , I'll bring you to the Leader that you'll be keeping company with."
He stood up from his seat and walked over to Rayne, leaning in slightly to whisper, "He's soone you should be very afraid of."
Rayne took in a deep breath to remain calm. The chances of this leader being Damien were really high. She turned her head and looked directly into Tristan's eyes.
She was calm yet sohow fierce. It was a different response from what Tristan was expecting. He grinned, showing his white teeth. "If you fail to et my boss's expectations, then perhaps I'll have you keep company instead."
Rayne didn't break eye contact, but she could see the slithering snake in his eyes. This man was more dangerous than she initially thought.
