deia couldn’t even imagine having another potential husband besides Lucian.

In her mind, Lucian was perfect and no one could replace him.

She didn’t understand this feeling either, but it wasn’t important.

Lucian held her hand and smiled so brightly that she was almost blinded by his handsoness. He said, "Aren’t you such a sweet talker?"

"I’m not!" deia pulled back her hand, but Lucian held it.

"I’m lucky to have you, too." He lowered his head and suddenly kissed her palm.

[Achievent Unlocked: Kissed on the palm by Lucian!]

[Reward: 100 XP, 100 C Points]

deia froze at the unexpected gesture, her heart racing as Lucian’s lips brushed gently against her skin. The warmth of his touch lingered, causing her face to redden in a second.

What the hell was that?

Other n would definitely choose to kiss her lips, but he kissed her hand instead!

Ridiculous.

Is he a saint of what?!

"I-I’m sleepy!" deia imdiately pulled her hand away from him, then buried her body under the blanket.

She didn’t hear anything from Lucian for a while until she felt his arms gently wrap around her from behind. His warmth seeped through the blanket and made her heart beat faster.

"M-my hair still slls bad," deia mumbled.

"You washed it three tis." Lucian pulled her body closer, resting his chin lightly on her shoulder. "It’s been so long since we slept together."

deia held her breath. The way he said it made her think of dirty things. "It’s only been a week."

Besides, they had only embraced once in bed before both of them had a lot of work to catch up on.

This man was really dangerous for her weak heart.

Lucian didn’t make a sound after that. His hand held hers, caressing each of her fingers. His touch was tender, yet it sent an electrifying shiver down deia’s spine.

"Good night," he murmured in a low voice.

deia clasped his fingers. "Good night."

They left the house as soon as the sun ca up. deia felt so fresh and happy this morning because Lucian had hugged her all night.

Even when she killed the undead, she didn’t complain and moved with unusual enthusiasm.

Tian, noticing her good mood, couldn’t help but say, "You seem ... unusually cheerful today."

Yesterday, she couldn’t stop complaining and blaming her brother for being stuck in a disgusting place, but now she acted like she was in heaven.

deia gave him a bright smile. "I had a really good night’s sleep. Besides, isn’t it a good day to kill so pests?"

[You have slain a walking undead (Grade-D): 40 XP].

deia pulled her sword from the undead’s head and muttered, "Thanks for the points."

Even the system was shocked.

[Host, do you feel unwell?]

[The system has detected sothing unusual in your mood].

’Just shut up. I don’t want to hear anything from you today.’

[....]

Her mood might be great, but the system’s voice was still too damn annoying for her.

After walking for two hours straight, they finally saw the twin tunnels from a distance. Unexpectedly, they also caught the sight of the horde of undead gathering near the barricade in front of the tunnels.

deia narrowed her eyes. "Are they ... trying to leave the city?"

Lucian frowned deeply. "It seems that way."

The undead staggered forward, pressing against the rusted tal barricade as if their decaying minds still held a faint mory of their forr lives.

So of them clawed at the barriers until their fingers tore from their hands, others simply leaned against them as if waiting for soone to open the barricade.

Ren raised his eyebrows. "Uhh ... Maybe I’m just imagining things, but don’t they look desperate?"

"Maybe it’s because they turned into undead when they tried to escape the city." Lucian let out a desperate sigh. "Poor things. They must have been doing this for fifteen years."

A smile on deia’s face faded. She glanced at them and didn’t say anything for so ti.

She was used to seeing desperation in humans once they ca to Hell.

They would face the sa despair and pain over and over again as punishnt for their sins. Hence, she shouldn’t have taken pity on the undead who had been doing the sa things for years.

But for so reason, she felt uncomfortable every ti she realized that they were nothing more than trapped souls.

So of them might not be sinners, but they still have to suffer pain over and over again for years.

Their brains were already dead, but their souls lingered in their rotting bodies, trying to achieve the last thing they wanted before they died.

"We have to kill them." There was a flicker of unease in her eyes. She turned to Lucian, who stood silently beside her. "They want to go, then we can grant them their wish."

Tian, who heard her silently, said, "You’re wasting ti and energy just to kill them all."

"We can set them on fire." Ren suddenly said, "That should save a lot of ti, right? Besides, how are we supposed to open the barricade with them standing there?"

deia smiled, impressed by Ren’s sudden practicality. "See? Even your brother has a better solution than you, Tian."

Tian rolled his eyes. "It’s nice to know that his brain is still working well." He continued, "Then how can we burn them? We don’t even have gasoline."

"Oh, that’s easy." deia smiled and moved her fingers in front of him. "We just have to turn water into gasoline."

They explored the area near the tunnels and found an abandoned factory with barrels. Lucian and Tian dragged four barrels to deia and had her fill them with fresh water.

"Here," she said, pointing to the barrels as she looked at Lucian. "Now you turn."

Lucian leaned forward and placed his hand on the barrels. A faint golden glow emanated from his palm as he activated his ability to manipulate atoms. The water began to shimr and distort, its clear surface rippling as its molecular structure changed.

Within seconds, the liquid darkened and thickened, the unmistakable scent of gasoline wafting into the room.

Lucian raised his head and spoke in a serious tone, "The fire and smoke may invite other mutants into the tunnel, so after we set the fire, we must imdiately pass through the barricade and close it again."
