Tian threw his jacket to Ren, then turned around to rub away his tears. He didn’t say anything for a long ti and asked his brother to keep his mouth shut.
After seeing that lancholy situation, deia couldn’t help but tease him. "Co on, don’t be shy." She put her arms around Tian’s shoulders. "Your brother must be happy to see you cry more."
"deia," Lucian called her. He pulled her away from Tian, saying, "Let’s give them so space."
Lucian spoke in a gentle tone, but at so point, deia could catch a hint of irritation in his voice.
But why? Why did he suddenly feel irritated?
It’s not like he feels jealous of Tian, right?
’Haha, there is no way ... no way!’
[Maybe you can make sure of it by seducing other n in front of him, Host!]
’What do you think am I? A whore or what?’
[But you have seduction skills ....]
’But it’s not like I will use it to test Lucian! I’d be damned if I teased that man.’
[You are boring, Host.]
deia didn’t respond to the system’s nonsense and followed Lucian to leave the twins alone for so ti. They stood side by side in front of the door, looking at the other rooms that had been filled with moss.
At least the moss wasn’t poisonous.
"I forgot to ask you this, but how long will it take us to get back by foot?"
Lucian thought for a while before saying, "If we walk without resting then we can return to Warstock base within five days, but of course we have to take a rest, so maybe around one week."
One week? That was also the quest’s ti limit.
"After 48 hours, you can go back with Tian and Ren by teleportation," Lucian said, "I’ll catch up to you."
deia creased her forehead. "Then, you’ll be alone if I go back first."
He chuckled. "I used to travel alone, rember?"
deia wanted to say sothing, but she didn’t know what kind of answer she should give him. Lucian was capable enough to travel alone and he could also walk faster without having to wait for deia and the others.
Based on her calculations, Lucian would also return to base before 7 days, so he still had ti to complete his quest, right?
Wrong.
How the hell could she convince Lucian to kiss her in just a few days? Seven days was already short, let alone if they didn’t see each other for about two days.
Just like she thought, the system must have been error.
Didn’t the system tell her to have a kind heart first before dating a kind man? Then, why did it suddenly give her a quest that should have been done after they were already dating?
Did the system go into error because Lucian could accept her unconditionally?
He didn’t even despise her even though she looked like a demon and acted like one.
deia suspected Lucian was as error-prone as the system.
"Alright, fine," deia said at last. "I’ll be waiting for you at the Warstock Base."
"Actually, I want to go sowhere before I return." Lucian lowered his voice, sounding a little bit hesitant. "But, I also want you to co with . If you don’t mind, can you teleport back to after two days?"
deia blinked several tis, caught off guard by his unexpected request. Did he ask her to return with Tian and Ren first, so they could spend ti alone later?
"What kind of place are you talking about?" she asked, feeling intrigued.
Lucian scratched the back of his neck, his hesitation more evident now. "It’s... sowhere nice, at least for . I think you would like it if I brought you there. It’s alright if you don’t want to..."
"I want to go! Of course, I will teleport back to you!" deia didn’t think about it further because if Lucian said that the place was nice, then it must be really nice.
"Great." He smiled brightly. "You won’t regret it."
deia was about to say sothing, but her body was imdiately on alert as she heard the loud sound from the first floor. It sounded like sothing had hit the sliding door.
"What is that?" Tian ca out of the room with Ren. "Is that a monster?"
"They must have slled us in here," Lucian said, "We have to leave this zone imdiately."
Ren gulped. His skin suddenly got paler. "The monsters are endless here. Every ti I manage to escape from one monster, then I will encounter another one."
Lucian then gave them valuable information. "This city used to have three zoos back then. Hence, no wonder there are so many mutant animals in this zone."
It was possible that they had multiplied in a short period of ti, so their numbers could no longer be counted on the fingers. Let alone the mutant animals, they also had to face the walking undead.
"What should we do?" Ren was panicking because he didn’t want to face those monsters again.
"What else? We have to fight them?" said deia.
It was either kill or be killed.
"But we have to plan the exit route first." She turned toward Lucian. "I can use the compass to find us a safer route back. Do you have any idea where the compass would lead us?"
Lucian had lived in the city for years, so he must have known a safe path they could take to get out of the city.
"Most likely, the compass will lead us to the twin tunnels that connect to another city. The military used to put a barricade in front of the tunnel to protect the other city, but it’s useless because the radiation will contaminate the entire world."
However, the mutants in City J were not as many as the mutants in X-12 Zone because the soldiers had killed the animals there before they mutated.
"Most of the mutants there are undead or the Lost," Lucian inford.
deia asked, "So, this city is the first to experience mutation?"
"Yes. The radiation level here is the highest among the other cities, so the inhabitants in it mutate faster."
She patted him on the shoulder. "You have suffered a lot."
