deia did not expect the General to grant her request. But minutes later, a tall man erged from the base. The soldiers saluted him and didn’t dare to make a reckless move in his presence.
He was General Orlon, a leader who had commanded the Warstock for the past twelve years. He rarely showed himself to others, letting his colonel handle the external matters for him.
Therefore, not many people had seen him face to face.
He stopped a few ters away from deia and Lucian. "Colonel Colton told everything. Tell , what do you want?"
Without changing pleasantries, Lucian told him, "I want to make a new deal. In exchange for the weapons and vehicles, I will offer you 2,000 gallons of water once a week and two crates of fresh vegetables, no more, no less."
General Orlon laughed at him. "Your price is ridiculous. The Stormclad even had to give us baby boys in exchange, but you only offer vegetables and water?"
deia helped Lucian to speak. "In this kind of world, water and vegetables should be your first priority, right? Normal vegetables are hard to co by these days."
The forests were full of plants, but they had to risk their lives to find edible vegetables there. Besides, the edible vegetables and dicinal herbs were mostly in the Red Zone Forest and the Black Zone Forest, which were surrounded by dangerous mutated plants and animals.
If they made a deal with Red Star, they could get fresh vegetables without sacrificing their lives.
Wasn’t that a win-win solution?
"So what’s your decision, Colonel?" deia shrugged. "It’s whether you take it or leave it."
Orlon paused for a mont, his expression unreadable, so deia couldn’t guess what he was thinking. Then, to her utter surprise, he nodded. "I’ll take it."
deia blinked, montarily stunned. "Excuse ?"
"You heard ," Orlon said, "Your terms are fair. I consider fresh vegetables as valuable as newborn babies."
He extended out his hand to Lucian. "Do we have a deal?"
That was too easy and a bit suspicious.
But deia couldn’t prove that he had bad intentions either.
Should she check his ability?
’System, check his ability,’ deia ordered the system.
[Check his status...]
"Yes, we have a deal." As soon Lucian took his hand, the system displayed the general’s status.
[Na: Orlon Hunter (General)
Age: 48
Abilityl: Nullification (Grade-SSS ) - Effect: Completely disables all mutation abilities for 15 minutes].
deia widened her eyes and imdiately shouted to Lucian, "Don’t touch him!"
In an instant, Lucian felt his legs go numb and his strength drain away. Gravity was pulling him down, making it impossible for him to get up imdiately.
His pupils moved rapidly as he realized he had fallen into the General’s trap.
deia’s heart pounded in alarm as she rushed to Lucian’s side and pulled him away from Orlon. "You bastard!" she hissed, glaring at the general. "You did this on purpose!"
[Foul language detected! Penalty -20 C-points.]
deia ignored the system because Lucian was the only thing she cared about right now.
It seed he was missing not only his mutant abilities, but his physical abilities as well.
"Run, deia," he whispered to her. "I’ll take care of him myself."
What was he talking about?
How could he handle the General and the rest of the base in his current state?
It was her fault for not being aware of this dangerous man earlier.
It really was her fault.
She had relied too much on Lucian these days, believing that he could handle everything on his own.
But she forgot that the universe would do anything to balance everything.
Lucian was strong, but he wasn’t the only one with an outstanding ability. Each of the abilities would definitely have its natural enemy, and Orlon was one of his enemies.
"Oh, don’t get wrong. This is just business." Orlon stepped forward, but deia tried her best to pull Lucian away. "I’m tired of making useless deals, so I decided to get what I want for free."
"I feel you have a strong ability, but it’s not enough to stop ." Orlon said, "Tell , if the foundation of the building has collapsed, can the rest of the structure survive?"
In other words, Orlon had planned to raid Red Canyon and take over the springs.
"You seem to have known about Stormclad’s collapse all along," deia said.
Orlon smiled. "I have a trusted informant."
After he said that, a man in a green hat appeared behind him. He smiled at deia and waved, "Rember , sweetheart?"
deia gritted her teeth. He was Eddy, a man with teleportation abilities from Stormclad.
No wonder deia hadn’t seen his dead body when Lucian destroyed the entire Alliance. It turned out that he had run away and co to the Warstock base.
"You walked into our trap from the beginning." Orlon sighed. "Even your friends are no better."
"Let us go, you bastard!" deia heard Ren’s voice.
She turned around, looking at the many n carrying him by force. His hands and legs were bound in chains, making him unable to use his speed ability.
Simon was no better than him. A pile of chains were wrapped around his body to the point that he couldn’t move at all.
On the other hand, Harry seed so weak that he couldn’t walk properly.
deia pounded the ground so hard that her hands felt hurt. "You... you have to target them first!"
While she and Lucian were making a commotion at the front door, General Orlon had hunted the people in the water trucks. No wonder it took a few minutes before they could et the general.
However, deia didn’t see Tian around them.
Did she manage to escape?
"General," deia sharpened her tone. "Your ability is not lasting forever. After a while, they will regain their abilities."
Orlon smiled. "Don’t worry about that. Before they regain their abilities, I will have killed them."
Fifteen minutes was not a long ti, but it was enough to kill powerless people.
"Bring those people to the base. We can use their bodies to test our newest weapon," Orlon ordered.
The soldiers brought Ren, Simon, and Harry to the base, leaving deia and Lucian alone.
"And you." Orlon pointed his finger at Lucian. "I’ll kill you myself, while your wife will be our plaything until she breaks."
