An hour later, everyone had gathered in the old factory. They wondered what kind of topic they had to discuss that they had to hold a eting at midnight.
"Chief Eldric, what’s going on?" Naomi was surprised to see deia and Lucian in the factory. "When did you get back?!"
"Just a little while ago." deia teased her, "Did you sleep too well?"
"I’m sorry! I thought Ren only wanted to talk about unimportant things when he knocked on my door." She scratched her head. "He does that too often."
deia waved her hand. "Don’t worry about it. Anyway, you’ve done a pretty good job with the farm."
"Did I overdo it?" asked Naomi. "The hunters keep bringing back fertility stones from the forest, so I decided to bury them all."
"Are you kidding? You are the best, Naomi!" deia gave her a thumbs up. "I can never activate these stones as fast as you."
The fertile land was so tiny when deia left the village, but in just a few days, Naomi had buried hundreds of stones and expanded the farm to the point where the villagers had to build a new fence every day.
This woman was truly an asset for deia and she should keep her forever.
After exchanging pleasantries with her, deia walked over to Lucian, who was talking to Chief Eldric. His face was filled with a seriousness that deia rarely saw.
"We have to do this, Chief," he said, "the base is our chance to survive longer."
Chief Eldric rubbed his imaginary beard and seed to hesitate at Lucian’s suggestion. "I’m not sure about that. The people are already comfortable here, so it’s hard to convince them to move."
Lucian wanted to say sothing, but deia patted him on the shoulder and said, "Let’s discuss it further with everyone."
Yes, he didn’t have to waste his energy convincing people twice.
Besides, it was her job to convince the villagers to move or the system wouldn’t give her any rewards!
After asking everyone to sit down, Chief Eldric had finally started the eting. He gave them a brief explanation of what was going on and why he had gathered them in the middle of the night.
They exchanged glances with each other, perplexed by the chief’s explanation. After living in such a remote place for a dozen years, they didn’t know much about alliances and the lives of people outside the village.
Therefore, it was hard for them to digest all the information.
deia could guess that the eting would last all night.
Lucian wanted to speak, but deia stopped him. "I’ve known them for so long, so let handle this."
Knowing them better my ass, deia just wanted to get the rewards.
"Just let know if you need my help," Lucian said.
deia smiled at him before standing in front of the crowd. "I know you feel overwheld after hearing so much information all at once, but we don’t have much ti to dawdle," she said, "The base in the Red Canyon will be our best chance to live longer, so and Lucian thought we might have to move there."
The crowd muttered to themselves, their faces a mixture of concern and uncertainty. Morty raised his hand before speaking, "Isn’t living here not bad either? Now that Nico can control his ability, no monster can invade the village!"
"Yes, that’s true!" Others began to speak. "We also have you, Miss deia. Your water is enough for all of us."
Sister Jeanne said politely, "I am sorry, Miss deia. But I think it will be dangerous for the kids to move to such a far place. Aren’t there will be so many monsters and the lost out there?"
deia groaned desperately in her heart. As she thought, it was harder to convince many people than to control hellhounds!
"Okay, I see your point, but what would happen to you if I or Nico died?" deia left them speechless. "There will be no water in the sumr and no shield to protect the village from the monsters."
Her statent brought silence to the room. deia thought she had won their hearts, but it turned out she had concluded too quickly.
"But still ... it’s really dangerous to leave the village."
"Oh, co on! It only takes us six hours to get there by car. And as for monsters ..." deia looked at Lucian, "We haven’t t a single monster on the way, have we?"
"We crossed paths with so many monsters and the Lost." Lucian smiled innocently. "You were asleep, so you didn’t see them."
Honey, you’re supposed to get my back!
"But!" When Lucian realized that he had made the situation worse, he imdiately said, "But I can handle them very well, so they won’t be a problem for us."
Besides, the monsters on the road were mostly Grade-F or Grade-E, because the high-level monsters preferred to roam near places with many lives instead of the empty roads.
"How can you be so sure that you can handle all the monsters and protect us?" asked Rico skeptically.
deia answered his question instead of Lucian: "Because he is strong, the strongest among us.
Morty scoffed at her, "Ridiculous! I don’t even know what kind of ability he has, so how could I trust him so easily?"
"Just let him fight one of the Grade-S hunters so we can judge his abilities!"
"No! Do you think he’s a circus animal that has to show his talent in front of you?" deia sharpened her gaze. She lost her patient as soon as they started insulting Lucian. "He doesn’t have to kill anyone tonight."
Chief Eldric tried to calm her down. "They only asked Lucian to spar with one of the hunters, not to kill anyone."
"If you want to see his true ability, then it is impossible that no one will die in that sparring." deia emphasized her words, "So the answer is still no."
It was hard to get them to believe her words because the villagers thought Lucian was not the kind of person who could threaten their lives.
Lucian, on the other hand, just responded with an innocent smile and stood behind deia. He seed like a ball of sunshine that couldn’t kill a small ant.
Well, he was indeed a ball of sunshine—a scorching sun that could burn hundreds of people to dust.
Fortunately, Tian asked sothing else, so deia didn’t have to talk about it anymore. "Let’s say we don’t get killed on the streets, but how can we plant our crops on rocky ground?"
He had a point by asking that. The Red Canyon had an endless supply of water, but what else?
The land was dry and rocky, making it difficult for them to dig the ground and bury the fertility stones.
But deia and Lucian had thought about that before.
deia, "Don’t worry, nothing is impossible as long as we treasure Lucian’s hands.
