deia didn’t really understand the situation, but she could guess that they were a bunch of barbarians who liked to cause trouble wherever they went.

Lucian pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her body like a sticky octopus.

’Didn’t it count as a hug?’

[No, Host. He do it because it’s a must, not because he want to hug you]

’What do you know about a human’s heart? You’re just a fu—freaking system!’

The system didn’t make a sound again after that, leaving deia alone.

deia peeked behind the tree, looking at the cars and motorcycles that parked near the forest. The group of burly and rough n ca down from their vehicles.

deia could feel Lucian’s heartbeat quicken, making her wonder why he was more afraid of facing the humans than a monster?

He didn’t even flinch when he fought an S-class monster.

deia saw Lucian gripped his fist tightly until his veins were clearly visible. At that mont, she knew Lucian wasn’t afraid of them, he was angry and tried his best to endure it.

But why? Why was he angry?

"Hurry up! Search every dicinal herb in here!" a man with a long red beard ordered everyone to move. He seed like their leader or maybe just soone they feared.

They randomly uprooted the plants in the forest, leading deia to believe that they didn’t have much knowledge of dicinal plants. They caused damage by digging everywhere and stepping on small plants.

deia knew that so of the plants were dangerous, but shouldn’t they respect nature more? If they took dicinal herbs like that, there might not be any left in the future.

"Hey, Redbeard! Isn’t there 17 people here?!" a man with one arm shouted across the forest.

The man with a beard said, "Yes! Why?"

"But, I sense 19 people in this forest." He said, "We have guests!"

Lucian cursed, "Shit."

deia was taken aback because it was the first ti she heard him use foul language, and it sounded hot when he said it.

"Find them! And bring them to !" the Redbeard smiled widely so that his blackened teeth could be seen. "We can keep them as slaves!"

deia rolled her eyes. Those people were jerks, instead of using innocent people as slaves, they should kidnap rotten people. No wonder Lucian got annoyed and angry when he saw them.

"Stay here," Lucian whispered. He sared dirt on deia’s face, then covered her beautiful face with a scarf. "If they find you, just scream and run as fast as you can. I promise I’ll find you and protect you."

deia held his hand. "Where are you going?"

"Shh ... don’t talk." He said, "They have a clairvoyance with them, so they can detect us even though we’re trying to hide."

Hence, it was better for Lucian to co out before they found them. He walked away slowly from deia before he raised his hand and let the barbarians know his whereabouts.

"I’m just passing by!" Lucian ca out of the bushes. "I don’t intend to fight, so please, just let go."

The Redbeard laughed out loud, followed by his minions. They laughed as if Lucian had just told a joke.

"Do you know who we are?!"

"Oh, I know." Lucian shifted his gaze to the tattoo on their skin. The tattoo showed the combination of the letters ’S’ and ’C’ with dramatic lines. "You are from the Stormclad Alliance."

"Hah! We must be that famous, right?"

Lucian didn’t answer his stupid question, so he spoke again, "Then, you must know you only have two choices when you face us." He said, "Die or beco our slave."

Lucian smiled. "What about the third option? You let go and I’ll let you live longer."

"Have you heard what he is saying?!" the Redbeard looked at his n, then scoffed at Lucian, "Let us live? You don’t even have a chance to hurt , pretty boy."

"Hey, where is the other one?" wondered one of them.

"Good question. Where is the other one?"

Lucian responded to their questions calmly. "What do you an? I’m the only one here."

The clairvoyance whispered sothing to the redbeard. His eyes imdiately lit up and he licked his lips with a nasty expression. "A woman. You have a woman with you."

A smile on Lucian’s face dropped and he held his sword hilt tightly. "I don’t have a woman with ."

As the situation grew tense, deia saw Bear erge from the bushes and slowly approach her. The wolf stood in front of her, sharpening his senses to protect her.

deia whispered sothing beside its ear, and tied the mystic compass around Bear’s neck.

"Oh, don’t lie! Our little George can detect people’s presence, including their gender!" He walked closer to Lucian. "Co on, don’t be a cheapskate. You must know n’s special codes after the apocalypse happens right?"

Lucian sharpened his gaze. "I don’t."

The redbeard widened his smile. "We will always share our properties. They’re just breeders anyway, so why—"

Lucian drew his sword and aid for the redbeard’s neck. He was quick and accurate, but his enemy was no less quick.

"They are humans, not properties." Lucian reminded him, "Mind your language."

The redbeard laughed, mocking Lucian. "Oh, you must be a knight in shining armor." He then ordered one of his n. "Eddie! Find that woman and bring her to our base!"

"Not a chance!" Lucian tried to block the path of the man in the green hat, but he suddenly disappeared. Lucian’s eyes widened and he yelled, "deia, run! He can teleport!"

deia imdiately climbed onto Bear’s back. The wolf ran fast, through the trees and rocky roads. She held its fur, then said, "Rember, Bear. If I am taken away, then you have to give the compass to Lucian."

She was sure Lucian could handle them all, but the fact that he was trying his best to hide her from them made deia guess that they would not be so easy to defeat.

They were wicked and cruel, so who knew what dirty tricks they hid in their sleeves.

Right after she thought that, the ground beneath them shook and a giant worm rose from the ground in front of Lucian.

Not only that, but the other monsters in the forest started screeching and shrieking, running toward Lucian as if he was their snack.

"What is wrong with them? Is this soone’s ability?" deia asked the system, "Give information about the Redbeard."

[Na: Hans Carter (The Redbeard

Age: 51

Ability: the monster tar / controller (Grade-SS)]

deia clicked her tongue. No wonder they ca into the forest without looking scared at all.

On the other side, Lucian tried to head to deia, but the monsters got in his way.

"Kill him!" Redbeard’s voice echoed through the forest, controlling the monsters within a 1km radius.

Lucian gritted his teeth. He moved as fast as the light, slicing through every monster in his path. Blood splattered everywhere, turning his brown jacket into red.

But the monsters were endless. If he killed one, more monsters would co.

deia couldn’t see his fight, but she knew that Lucian hadn’t unleashed his full power yet.

But why? Why would he hold back when he was surrounded by monsters?

"There you are, sweetheart." Bear stopped running as a man in a green hat suddenly appeared in front of the wolf.

He grinned from ear to ear and looked at deia with lustful eyes. "Why are you running so far? Don’t be afraid, we won’t bite if you behave."

deia drew her dagger. She spoke harshly to him, "Fuck off."

[Foul language detected! Penalty -20 C-points!]

She ignored the system, then stepped down from Bear. The wolf growled at the man, not wanting him to co any closer.

"Such a pretty dog."

Bear quickly attacked him when he stepped closer. The wolf opened its jaws and tried to rip the man’s throat out. But before the wolf could touch him, deia suddenly pushed him aside.

"Go! Bear, go now!" deia ordered, "You have to be with Lucian when I’m gone!"

The wolf was reluctant to leave, but deia’s sharp gaze made the wolf didn’t have a choice except to follow her order.

"Gone? Baby, do you want to co with willingly?" the man’s smile widened.

"Do I have a choice?" deia walked slowly toward the man. "You have the ability to teleport, and I suspect you can also make anything you touch go wherever you want."

If deia had let him touch Bear earlier, she was not sure he would have sent the wolf to a safe place.
