[Ding! Ding!]

[You received a Special Quest: Uncover Tian and Ren’s Past!]

[Future Reward: Upgrade Water Mutant Ability to Grade-S]

deia blinked several tis, surprised that she was even capable of upgrading her water mutant ability.

To be honest, she had never cared much about it because she rarely used it, especially after she discovered the springs.

However, if she could reach Grade-S water manipulation, then she could probably do all kinds of fun things with it.

Maybe she could even create a tsunami strong enough to wipe out an entire building soday.

Just the thought made her excited for the upgrade.

Well, unfortunately, before she could claim the reward, she had to complete the mission first.

"Why do I care?" deia quickly changed her expression. Her eyes shimred with tears, like she was just one second away from crying.

"Tian ... you’re my best buddy. Of course I want to know more about you. Can you tell what happened?"

Instead of softening, Tian sneered at her. "Wipe your tears. I know you’re faking it."

He added coldly, "There’s nothing you need to know."

deia’s expression switched in an instant. The tears that were about to fall suddenly disappeared. She clicked her tongue in annoyance.

"You’re so stingy."

Tian ignored her and opened the door in front of him. He hesitated for a mont, like he was still deciding whether to step inside or just shut it again.

But before he could decide, deia gave the door a firm push, so strong that Tian nearly lost his balance and stumbled inside.

A thick cloud of dust burst into the air the mont the door creaked open.

Tian, who stood right in front of it, got hit with most of it. His face and clothes were instantly covered, and he coughed a few tis, glaring at deia, who had already stepped back a few paces after pushing the door.

"What?" deia said, raising an eyebrow. "My reflexes are just too good."

She waved her hands in front of her face, trying to keep the dust away.

"And seriously, why were you taking so long to open it? Just get in already."

She nudged Tian out of the way and stepped through the doorway first.

Even though she could see well enough in the dark, she still turned on her flashlight and pointed it forward so Tian could see what was ahead of them too.

The mont she stepped inside, she was t with a spiral staircase leading down into the shadows. deia leaned on the railing, tilting her head to try and see what was at the bottom.

But the dust in the air was too thick, so it was impossible to see clearly.

"You know what’s down here, don’t you?" she asked, still staring into the dark.

"If you didn’t ... you wouldn’t have acted so eager to open this place."

Tian frowned. "I wasn’t eager. You’re the one who was curious. I just unlocked the door."

deia let out a short laugh.

"Please. You’re not Lucian. You don’t do things unless you really want to. And you definitely don’t take the lead unless sothing’s pulling you in."

Tian clicked his tongue but didn’t say anything.

Yeah, he wanted to go in. That much was obvious.

But the real question was—why?

Even if this place had working lights, it wouldn’t have made it feel any better.

Satanic symbols were drawn all over the walls, looking even more vivid than the ones in the hallway.

It was clear this place was never ant for outsiders to see.

"Fucking Satan," deia muttered as she touched one of the symbols. "Always acting like he is the King of Hell."

[Foul language detected! Penalty minus 20 C-points!]

’Oh, I thought you were asleep.’ deia sighed inwardly. ’You rarely show up when I actually need you, but suddenly you appear just to deduct my points? Has your upgrade been completed or what?’

[System upgrade progress: 68%.]

[Host, there is no need to worry about the system.]

’Who said I was worried about you?’ deia grumbled in her head.

She wasn’t worried about the system, she was worried that the upgrade would ss with her skills right when she needed them most.

"You shouldn’t say his na out loud," Tian said, his voice low. "Especially in this place."

deia quickly dropped the thought of her system when she heard him. She turned to look at Tian and noticed his face was even paler than before. His eyes kept darting around, like he was checking every corner to make sure nothing was creeping up on them.

Interesting.

She had seen Ren act like that all the ti, but Tian?

This was sothing new. She had never seen him this nervous.

But if he was that scared ... why did he co down here with her?

"Who? Satan?" deia snorted. "Please. That bastard’s not even that scary."

People often mistook Satan for Lucifer, but in truth, they were completely different beings.

She didn’t know much about the demons in this world, but in her world, Lucifer wouldn’t even bother with humans, let alone speak to them.

He was the dark lord, the King of Hell, the one who devoured human souls without caring if they were good or evil.

He hated humans with everything he had.

That’s why deia never understood why people thought the dark lord would co to their little cults and make them his servants.

If anything, Lucifer would devour them all before they could even say a word to him.

No ... ordinary humans could never summon him.

Even if they managed to, they’d go blind and lose their minds because his presence alone could crush a human soul.

That’s why Satan pretended to be him.

By copying Lucifer, he could trick people into giving him what he wanted—slaves, won, children’s souls, and endless offerings.

But out of all the offerings, his favorite was children.

If the child was still a fetus, he’d devour it on the spot.

If the child had grown, he preferred to take their soul slowly by having his followers sacrifice them on an altar.

deia despised him.

If he ever showed his face to her, she’d spit on it without hesitation.
