The wind outside howled rcilessly, rattling against their rocky shelter like a relentless beast.

The temperature kept dropping, seeping through the cracks of the cave, but thankfully, they had an unlimited supply of firewood, ensuring they wouldn’t freeze to death in the middle of nowhere.

Bear curled up beside the fire, its large body rising and falling steadily as it slept, lulled by the gentle crackling of the flas. Lucian leaned against the cave wall while deia sat in front of him, allowing him to wrap his arms around her from behind.

"You know ... we’ll have to stay here for another day," deia said suddenly.

"I know." Lucian humd in response, resting his chin on her shoulder. "I wouldn’t mind staying even longer."

The cave wasn’t exactly an ideal place to live, but at least here, they didn’t have to do anything.

No night patrols.

No taking care of a baby around the clock.

No dealing with students.

Just peace.

"Lucian," deia murmured, "is taking care of a baby tiring for you?"

He always looked so calm whenever he was with Sierra, as if it was the easiest thing in the world. Unlike him, deia felt like she was caught in a never-ending storm every single day.

So, was taking care of a child actually that difficult, or was she just overreacting?

"I do get tired, of course," Lucian admitted. "But since we’re doing it together, it doesn’t feel that hard."

"Not that hard?" deia let out a quiet sigh. "So I was right ... I really am overreacting."

"What do you an, love? You’re not overreacting at all." Lucian’s voice was soft, reassuring, as he gently ran his thumb over deia’s hand. "When it cos to raising a child, one of us has to stay calm, and the other has to prepare for the worst. That way, we don’t fall apart when things get tough."

deia studied him, her lips pressing together. "You sound like you’ve given this a lot of thought."

Lucian chuckled, but there was a weight behind it—sothing sad. "I just learned from watching my parents. They were a great team when it ca to parenting."

The way his voice wavered at the end made her chest tighten. He didn’t say it, but she could hear it.

He missed them.

Regret settled in her stomach. She hadn’t ant to bring up sothing painful. The last thing she wanted was to see him hurting.

Before she could stop herself, she shifted, turning to straddle his lap. Her hands cradled his face, fingers brushing against his jaw as she tilted his head up.

"You’re also going to be an amazing father to your children," she said.

Lucian blinked at her, montarily stunned. "Children?" He hesitated, searching her face. "I was actually aning to ask ... Do you want more than one child?"

deia didn’t even need to think. "Of course."

Lucian paused for a mont, his expression shifting as if he were thinking, Oh, okay, two isn’t bad. But before he could say anything, she casually added—

"I an ... maybe ten."

Lucian choked on air. "Ten?!" His eyes went wide as he instinctively leaned back—only to slam his head against the cave wall with a dull thud.

deia winced. "Oof. You okay?"

Lucian groaned, rubbing the back of his head. "Yeah. Just trying to recover from whateverthat was."

She grinned. "Ten isn’t that many."

He gave her a look. "deia, that’s so many."

deia imdiately reached out, cradling his head to check for any injuries. "Why are you so shocked? It’s not like you have to worry about child support in an apocalypse, right?"

She even started to wonder—maybe she could push for fifteen. But seeing the sheer panic on Lucian’s face at the ntion of ten, she figured fifteen might just send him into cardiac arrest.

"No! I an—it’s not like that!" Lucian groaned, rubbing the back of his head. "Don’t you think that’s a little too much? You’re human now, deia... I don’t think your body can handle that many pregnancies."

Oh.

That actually made sense.

Her system-enhanced strength put her far above the average human, but at the end of the day, her body was still limited by human biology. She couldn’t even maintain her demon form for long periods anymore.

Back then, she could reshape her body however she pleased—pregnancy never left a single trace. No stretch marks. No sagging. No permanent changes.

But now?

She was just human.

If she had that many kids ...

Her body might never recover.

Her—oh, hell no—her hole might end up as wide as a cave!

No. Absolutely not.

Her sex life would be ruined forever!

No, no, no!

"Then let’s just have two! Only two!" deia clutched Lucian’s face, her fingers digging into his cheeks as panic set in. "Don’t you dare get pregnant more than twice!"

Lucian chuckled, his lips curling into a teasing smile. "I’ll try my best. But you’re the one who always ask to co inside your—"

deia slapped a hand over his mouth before he could finish. "After we have two kids, you’re never allowed to finish inside again! Got it?!"

Lucian didn’t look the least bit threatened. If anything, his smile deepened. "Then ... since we don’t have any kids yet ..."

He pried her hand away and kissed her palm, his lips lingering against her skin. His voice dropped, husky and teasing as he leaned in, his breath warm against her ear. "That ans I can do it as much as I want for now, right?"

Oh, he was playing a dangerous ga.

Since taking in Sierra and solving the problem at the base as winter set in, neither of them had been in the mood for much else.

Sure, they kissed. They cuddled. Every single day for one week.

But it wasn’t enough.

It was never enough.

"I thought you weren’t interested in doing it with ." deia’s fingers traced from his cheek down to his jaw, feeling every sharp angle and curve. "I’m always the one initiating. And when I don’t, you never ask for it."

Lucian pulled her closer, his warm breath fanning against her skin as he pressed soft kisses along her shoulder. "I just don’t want to wear you out. Sotis, I feel guilty when I see how exhausted you look the next day."

"Oh, Lucian, my love." deia dragged her index finger along his lower lip, tempting him, teasing him, daring him to act. "Every ounce of exhaustion is worth it ... if you make feel good enough."

She leaned in, her lips brushing against his as she whispered, "You get what I’m saying? I will be tired, but if you make my pussy happy, you’ll make happy too."

Lucian suddenly grabbed the back of deia’s neck, pulling her in for a fierce, almost desperate kiss. His lips claid hers with raw intensity, his breath hot against her skin.

Just as his hands began to roam over her body, deia pressed her palms against his chest, stopping him—if only slightly. She gasped between uneven breaths. "Bear ... he can hear us."

Lucian barely looked fazed. "Don’t worry about him." With a flick of his fingers, he cast an invisible barrier over the wolf’s ears, ensuring it remained deep in sleep, undisturbed by whatever lewd noises they were about to make. "He’s a heavy sleeper."

Was he, though?

deia clearly rembered that wolf being ridiculously alert to everything around him.

But before she could think any further, Lucian kissed her again—effectively erasing all thoughts from her mind.

Lucian’s lips crashed against hers again, deeper this ti—possessive, desperate.

His hands slid down her waist, fingers pressing into her skin just enough to make her shiver. The temperature was cold, but whenever Lucian touched her, her body gradually felt warr.

Was he controlling his body temperature on purpose? Knowing him, he probably was—always looking out for her in ways both big and small.

Between breathless kisses, Lucian murmured against her lips, "Do you have more blankets in your pocket?"

deia barely registered the question, nodding as she absentmindedly pulled out a ridiculous amount—at least ten. Lucian took them, spreading a few over the hard, uneven ground before gently guiding her onto them.

"I thought we were going to do it on the freezing ground?" she teased, her lips curling into a wicked smile. "You know ... make shiver, desperate, begging for rcy as you slam down into the ground."

Oh, no ... it seed like doing it hard and rough for centuries was eventually turning her into a masochist.

Lucian stilled for a mont, blinking as if he wasn’t sure he heard her right. Then he let out a quiet laugh, shaking his head. "deia, sweetheart ... I don’t think I could ever be that cruel to you."

He leaned down, his lips grazing her jaw as his voice dropped to a seductive whisper. "But if you want to beg ... I have other, safer ways to make that happen."
