Seeing her friend’s stormy expression, Qingcao stood to the side, snickering nervously. When Wu Yue’s dagger-like gaze turned her way, she quickly clamped a hand over her mouth. She stood off to the side, head bowed, putting on a cowardly act of being a well-behaved child.
"It’s dangerous to eat things recklessly. Next ti you find spoiled food, feel free to try so more. You might not even need to find a witch then."
Seeing Qingcao’s pathetic, cowardly act, Wu Yue couldn’t help but break into a cold sweat at the girl’s sheer recklessness.
Qingcao looked at her in confusion. "Huh? Why?"
’Looking at her friend’s still-stormy face... is Yue mad because I didn’t co find her when I was sick?’
She clenched her little fists. ’Looks like I’d better find my friend first next ti I’m sick. Otherwise, Yue will be upset.’
But Wu Yue simply sneered. "Because if you eat spoiled food a few more tis, you might just get to et the Beast God in person."
With that, she shot the blabbermouth Qingcao an annoyed glance, then turned and continued walking toward the back of the tribe.
’Oh, so that’s what Yue ant~’
Unsure what ca to mind, Qingcao suddenly started snickering. Then, she skipped and hopped after her friend.
’Yue’s just worried about , telling not to eat spoiled food anymore.’
She imdiately sidled up to her friend and cheekily bumped Yue with her hip. "Aiya, if you’re worried about , just say so! Hehe..."
Wu Yue, who had been walking along steadily, felt her ears twitch. She’d naturally heard the footsteps approaching from behind, and the corners of her lips curled into a slight smile.
But she never expected that what was coming wasn’t a loving hug from her friend, but a giant rear end!!!
A powerful force struck her from the side. For a split second, Wu Yue had the bizarre feeling of being in an impending car crash, only to be saved by soone who pushed her out of the way without a thought for their own safety.
But a second later, she ca to her senses. This wasn’t Hua Country; there were no advanced things like cars here.
She calmly lifted her head from a pile of grass, spat out a few dry stalks, and turned. Her gaze was sinister as she looked at Qingcao, who was still holding her butt-out pose. Wu Yue felt an urge to grind her teeth.
"You’ve got a little too much at on your ass. I think I’ll help you shave so of it off."
With that, she reached into her satchel, pulled out her shell knife, and gave the terrified Qingcao a cold smile.
Qingcao, who had been about to tease her friend for having the build of a baby chick, froze when that gaze locked onto her. With a strange yelp, she turned and bolted.
"Yue, I just rembered, Amu called ho for dinner! I’m leaving now!"
’Yue’s expression just now was terrifying! My life was on the line!’
Watching the cloud of dust kicking up in Qingcao’s wake, Wu Yue stood up, the corner of her mouth twitching. She calmly placed the shell knife back in her satchel.
Rubbing her still-aching rear, she grumbled to herself, ’When I get back, I’m definitely going to Grandma Lu Shui to tell on Qingcao.’
Thanks to Qingcao’s antics, Wu Yue felt like the journey to the brick and tile kiln was taking forever.
The area was as bustling as ever. After all, many of the tribe mbers’ houses were still only partially constructed.
Construction had been paused for the trade fair, but now it had resud.
Chang Ye was leading so slaves in making unfired bricks and tiles. When he saw Wu Yue, he quickly trotted over.
"Lord Wuyue."
Wu Yue looked past them at the vast field of unfired bricks and tiles. "How many more do we need to build houses for all the new slaves?"
Chang Ye scratched his head. "We have almost enough. We were thinking of firing so extra bricks to build chicken coops. The won want to raise so chickens, too."
Although they helped Lord Wuyue raise her chickens, those chickens ultimately belonged to her.
If they raised their own chickens, all the eggs could go to the slave children.
At this thought, Chang Ye looked at Lord Wuyue with so apprehension.
He had planned on finding Lord Wuyue after they finished making the bricks for the day to discuss building coops and raising chickens. He never thought Lord Wuyue would co to them first.
Wuyue, of course, noticed the fear on his face.
’As slaves, forget raising chickens... they aren’t even allowed to own their own food.’
Wuyue mulled it over for a mont before turning to Chang Ye. "You should be aware of your status. I can make an exception for you this one ti, but raising chickens is not sothing that you, as slaves, can do on your own."
Chang Ye’s face went deathly pale. With a THUD, he fell prostrate on the ground. "Lord Wuyue, please forgive us!"
