Rita looked down contemplating all the reasons and then ca to the conclusion that is most reasonable to her.

That is because doing so aning she finally let down all her guard against him, Which she didn't have any but she still hesitated about telling him her story worrying about what would he think of her.
But now that she knows he even knows about Jake's such a hidden secrets, Then there is no way he didn't know about her past and even then he did not throw her out ans he was not repulsed by him.
It was the first ti in her life she felt like this. She has this confidence that she can tell him anything about her and she would not be judged.
Oh how desperate she was for the support but closed herself off in fear of others rejecting her.
In her eyes, If she did not get close then she would not be burned by the pain of rejection.
But now she found the one to do that and so she was grateful for him.
