Chapter 230: Still Two Left

But it didn’t matter. He could contact his first Master and Third Master. As long as they dealt with Alex, the root of the problem, First Master would surely co back.

But before that, it would be best to get his ‘little brother’ issue sorted out.

Otis, who had been wavering, was jolted back by Mike’s sudden interruption. His struggling expression returned to cold indifference.

He paused, then took two small jars from his pocket and pushed them into Eric Vaughn’s hands. Then, he stood up from the chair.

“Master, what’s this?” Eric Vaughn stared blankly at the two dicine jars in his hands.

Otis pointed to one jar. “The pills in this jar can change your appearance. If you ever face an enemy you can’t beat, take one imdiately. It can help you escape.”

Then, he pointed to the other jar. “The pills in this jar are my life’s work. Taking one will greatly increase your strength for a short ti, but there are so minor side effects. Though, for you right now, they shouldn’t cause any real harm.”

After explaining the pills, Otis seed to have completed his mission. He waved a dismissive hand, turning his back to Eric Vaughn. “Our ti as master and disciple is over. If we et again, we are strangers.”

With that, he lifted his leg and walked away.

“No!”

Eric Vaughn scread towards the sky again. The imaginary snowflakes falling around him seed to grow larger, colder.

He could almost hear sad background music starting to play.

He watched his First Master’s back get further and further away, until he turned, left the hospital room, and disappeared from sight.

Eric Vaughn couldn’t hold on any longer and collapsed onto the floor.

He knew. First Master really didn’t want him anymore. Even Master and Third Master probably couldn’t persuade him otherwise now.

And the First Master left without even ntioning fixing his ‘little brother’.

[Ding! Protagonist ‘Eric Vaughn’s’ Luck has fluctuated significantly. Level decreased by 0.5. Current Protagonist Level: 2.5]

Alex, who was driving, montarily lost focus, causing Ashley to let out a sharp “Mmph!”

What’s going on? Fortune level can drop by 0.5?

Thinking for a second, he figured Otis must have had the talk with Eric Vaughn and cut ties.

Heh! Losing one master only drops his level by 0.5. That’s less than losing a female lead.

Just as expected from an urban harem novel the female leads are more important than anything.

Eric Vaughn still has two masters left. If I deal with the remaining two, Eric Vaughn might actually drop out of the Protagonist ranks entirely!

Alex suddenly felt a strange reluctance. After all, this leek was really generous, a good leek. He practically gushed Critical Points for free.

Several tis when Alex needed a boost, it was all thanks to this Eric Vaughn leek.

“Ah… Hiss!”

Alex frowned, glancing at the mischievously smiling Ashley beside him.

“Are you part clamp or sothing?”

So good at squeezing.

“Hmph!” Ashley looked smug, shaking her head triumphantly. Her twin ponytails bounced along with the movent.

That’s the price for ssing with my little niece.

Alex focused on driving, deciding not to think about Eric Vaughn’s situation anymore.

….

Otis was gone. Just like that. He didn’t pause for a second, even with Eric Vaughn crying his heart out, begging him to stay.

Quite a crowd had gathered outside the hospital room, everyone craning their necks to peek inside. All they saw was so guy in a psych ward patient uniform having a ltdown on the floor.

Heh, so he really IS crazy! Just having an episode… With that thought, the onlookers started wandering off.

After Otis left, it was like all the strength drained out of Eric Vaughn. He collapsed onto the floor, his eyes blank and empty. Without even realizing it, his wounds tore open again. Silent tears, mixed with blood, tracked down his face. He looked absolutely pathetic.

“Master… doesn’t want anymore!”

He kept his head down, repeating the words over and over.

First Master… really didn’t want him.

And the worst part? Eric Vaughn had absolutely no clue why. Why would First Master suddenly cut ties with him? It made no sense.

Could it be because of that old man he accidentally killed? No, impossible. Eric knew First Master. He was fiercely protective. He’d never bla his own student over so stranger.

It had to be sothing else.

But what? Eric couldn’t figure it out.

In the end, he could only bla one person: Alex. It had to be Alex’s fault.

Alex must have said sothing to First Master, done sothing to him. It has to be.

As he forced himself to calm down, Eric quickly started analyzing.

In his letter, he’d described how miserable he was, blaming it all on Alex. He believed First Master would definitely look into Alex after reading it.

Maybe… maybe First Master went to confront Alex before coming here? If so, the bruises on First Master’s face would make sense!

That damn Alex! How dare he lay hands on First Master like that! Eric clenched his fists, teeth grinding.

So, First Master went to see Alex, but sothing happened. First Master got beaten up badly, and he got manipulated, sohow.

Just like Sera and Riley were!

Realizing this, Eric felt a jolt of alarm.

This Alex… he wasn’t simple. He didn’t just trick Sera and Riley into leaving him; now he’d sohow turned First Master against him too! This was seriously wrong.

A wave of panic washed over Eric.

Alex was a huge problem.

Eric knew his masters all three of them very well.

All three doted on him. They would never abandon him without a very good reason. They were the type to back their own, right or wrong. Even if he’d accidentally killed several patients, they would just help him cover it up, not bla him or criticize him, and certainly not disown him!

“No, I have to deal with Alex, and fast. He’s too dangerous.” The idea of writing to Second Master and Third Master surfaced again.

First Master wasn’t a fighter; confronting Alex alone, he’d just be giving away free points. But Second Master and Third Master? They were terrifyingly strong. Little Alex wouldn’t stand a chance against either of them.

First Master’s sudden turnaround filled Eric with a deep sense of crisis.

Suddenly, he rembered a specific detail.

“First Master is always so ticulous about his appearance! He uses more costics than anyone, and his clothes have to be perfectly ironed before he wears them.”

Eric frowned. “But this ti… his clothes were ssy, his face was so bruised… I could clearly see the fist marks!”

A flash of insight hit him! “Alex must have threatened First Master sohow! That’s why Master didn’t care about how he looked! He rushed here to disown under duress!” Yes, that had to be it. “First Master spoke so firmly… it was actually a warning! He couldn’t say it directly! Right, this hospital belongs to Alex! Everything happening here must be monitored by him! So Master couldn’t speak plainly! He had to act harsh to secretly warn !”

Eric felt a surge of triumph, like he’d finally broken through the fog and seen the clear truth.

He felt incredibly smart, figuring out his master’s difficult situation so quickly.

Slowly, his gaze landed on the two dicine jars in his hands. He recognized both jars; they were the kind First Master always used for his pills.

No doubt about it.

First Master really was threatened!

He stared intently at the familiar jars for a few monts, his eyes thoughtful. He opened one jar and brought it closer to sniff. The dicinal scent was strong, a little different from the usual pills First Master made, but Eric didn’t overthink it. A pill given at such a critical ti must be First Master’s special treasure. It’s normal for it to be a bit different.

He then opened the second jar and took a whiff.

Instantly, a potent aroma hit him. A powerful energy surged through his nose and mouth, flooding his limbs and channels in monts. It felt like a hidden fire erupted inside him, the intense heat gathering low in his body.

Then, his ‘little brother’, which had been completely unresponsive, gave a surprising twitch! It was faint, but Eric definitely felt it.

He’d received the signal from down below!

This sent a wave of pure joy through him.

His deductions were spot on!

First Master was threatened by that dog Alex! Alex must have used so dirty, underhanded tricks.

So despicable!

Knowing this actually made Eric feel a bit better. At least First Master hadn’t genuinely wanted to cut ties; there was a reason. He could forgive First Master now.

First Master was threatened, so he left these two precious jars of pills for him, placing all his hope on his student.

Yes, First Master truly loved him.

Eric’s ability to jump to conclusions and paint himself the hero was quite strong, heavily fueled by his own arrogance.

Just as Eric was plotting how to deal with Alex and rescue First Master, a thick, heavy arm suddenly draped over his shoulder from behind.

A blast of hot breath hit the side of his ear.

Instantly, Eric’s body shuddered. A chill ran down his spine, so intense he almost wet himself.

He had a sudden, terrible feeling.

He turned his head stiffly. Sure enough, Big G Mike had sohow crouched down right behind him. Mike was licking his lips with a grin, staring right at him.

Eric was too terrified to even twitch.

“So, have you thought about it?” Mike’s smile was wild and unrestrained.

He certainly knew how to pick his monts.

“Your master doesn’t want you anymore,” Mike continued, his grin stretching even wider. “But don’t feel bad. You can co to my club. We’re all family there.”

‘Thanks so much for your warmth,’ Eric thought sarcastically, instinctively trying to pull back. But Mike’s hand clamped down on his shoulder, pinning him in place. He couldn’t get away. Mike was too strong; Eric couldn’t break his grip.

“So, how about it?” Mike pressed, still grinning nacingly. “I delivered the letter for you. The person you wanted to see ca to see you. What else do you need? This is your last chance.”

He couldn’t imagine what other excuses Eric could possibly co up with.

Besides, his patience had run out.

Eric Vaughn, you’re agreeing today whether you like it or not.

I am finally getting so action today!
