Chapter 45: A Skill That Makes Everyone Jealous

At the break of dawn.

Li Yue slowly opened her eyes and awoke to find a piece of beast skin covering her as a quilt. Her heart ward instantly.

Turning her head, she looked at the wall adorned with swords and knives, and her delicate face softened considerably.

Yes, the white-haired girl had spent another night in Mu Liang’s room. The reason? She’d already forgotten.

“If this continues, I might not want to leave,” Li Yue murmured softly, her hand brushing the crimson patterns on her right cheek.

If it weren’t for the “Phantom Ghost’s Infection,” she might have considered staying.

After all, this place was extravagant enough to allow for baths and tea—luxuries she’d never thought possible. Most importantly, he didn’t despise her.

“What am I thinking? Euphyllia and the others are still waiting for to bring the Tears of an Angel back to them.”

Li Yue covered her face with both hands, her silvery-white eyes radiating a dreamy glow as she rolled back and forth on the bed.

Ahem, ahem…

A cough sounded from the doorway.

“…” Li Yue froze mid-roll, her entire body stiffening.

“I’m just here to grab sothing. Feel free to continue.”

Mu Liang leaned against the doorfra, smiling as he watched the white-haired girl freeze on the bed.

Whoosh!

In the blink of an eye, Li Yue grabbed the beast skin quilt and pulled it over her head.

Mu Liang’s black eyes twinkled with amusent. He retrieved a waterproof backpack from the corner of the room.

As he reached the doorway, he chuckled softly. “I’m leaving. You can keep sleeping.”

With the backpack in hand, Mu Liang entered the main hall and emptied its contents onto the table, focusing on the animal hides.

Since it was still early and the two girls were sleeping, he decided to study the oracle bone script inscribed on the hides.

Unexpectedly, he had caught a glimpse of a different side of Li Yue—one that was quite endearing.

“This character corresponds to the word for fire, doesn’t it?” Mu Liang carefully copied each script onto paper, matching them with simplified Chinese characters.

He used comparative thods to decode the oracle bone pictographs.

“Many of these characters are unfamiliar,” Mu Liang muttered, scratching his head.

Imrsed in deciphering the script, he lost track of ti as daylight grew brighter.

Ahh-haa~~

Mino yawned as she opened her door, noticing that nothing was cooking over the fire pit.

“Mu Liang, I’ll make breakfast!” the bunny-eared girl exclaid, raising her hand energetically.

“Huh?” Mu Liang snapped out of his focus and smiled. “Thanks, I appreciate it.”

“It’s no trouble at all.” Mino cheerfully grabbed a steel pot and headed for the storeroom.

A few seconds later.

The bunny-eared girl returned, clutching an empty wooden bucket with a pout. “Mu Liang, we’re out of water.”

“Don’t worry. We have plenty of water,” Mu Liang said with a chuckle.

He reached under the wooden table and pulled out another bucket, slightly lifting its lid to reveal water flowing inside.

Whoosh~~

“Huh? When did we get another bucket of water?” Mino asked, surprised, as she hurried to fill her bucket.

Peering into the slit, she noticed sothing glistening and attempting to squeeze through the gap.

“Mu Liang, there seems to be sothing in the bucket,” Mino whispered nervously, lightly tapping his foot with her toe.

“It looks like it’s trying to escape,” she added in a hushed voice.

“Oh, that’s just the crystal fish,” Mu Liang realised, rembering that Mino had never seen it before.

He promptly lifted the lid and, with quick reflexes, caught the crystal fish in his hand.

Mu Liang issued a ntal command to the system mid-thought: “Ta the crystal fish and evolve it to level 3 imdiately.”

Ding! Detected Level 1 Lifeform: Crystal Fish. Taming in progress…

Ding! Consud 10 Taming Points. Taming successful.

Ding! Inherit the ‘Water Elental Condensation’ skill?

“Inherit ‘Water Elental Condensation,’” Mu Liang commanded, his lips curling into a grin.

He had gained another skill that would make anyone green with envy—one that ensured he’d never run out of water.

Ding! ‘Water Elental Condensation’ modified… adaptation in progress… inheritance complete.

Mu Liang felt a cool sensation rush from head to toe, then fade away. He shrugged it off and checked his system interface.

Satisfied with his extended lifespan, Mu Liang closed the interface.

“Huh? The crystal fish has grown bigger,” Mino exclaid, her blue eyes wide with amazent.

Each ti she saw Mu Liang turn a small creature into sothing massive, she was left awestruck.

“Hey, Mu Liang! Let it go! You’re squishing it,” Mino said, poking his cheek with her finger.

“Huh?” Mu Liang glanced down to see the crystal fish wriggling weakly in his grasp.

He quickly loosened his grip, allowing the now half-tre-long crystal fish to breathe.

Whoosh~~

The crystal fish activated its innate skill, condensing water droplets to encase itself in a large, tre-wide water sphere that enveloped Mu Liang’s arm.

“It looks like we’ll need to move you to the big bath tub for now,” Mu Liang said, eyeing his soaked sleeve.

“The crystal fish is amazing! It’s so beautiful and transparent,” Mino said, moving closer in awe and cautiously touching the surface of the water sphere.

“It’s a bit mischievous right now,” Mu Liang replied with a wry smile as he placed the crystal fish into an empty bath tub.

“Hehe… a little mischief makes it more endearing,” Mino said, defending the fish.

She was utterly captivated by the shimring, crystalline creature—or perhaps just its sparkle.

Whether mature won or little girls, all loved shiny things.

Whoosh…

The bath tub filled with water in an instant.

Blub, blub…

The crystal fish expressed its dissatisfaction, complaining that the space was too small.

“Behave for now. I’ll dig a large pond for you later,” Mu Liang reassured it ntally, calming the fish to prevent it from spilling water everywhere.
