Miss, I Don’t Believe We’ve t Before

Ti seed to freeze, and what felt like re seconds stretched into an eternity for Chu Xinran and Qin Yun.

Finally, unable to bear the tension, Chu Xinran stepped forward, anxiously calling out, “Brother Fang Zhou, why are you ignoring ?”

Their conversation halted abruptly. Han Xi’s smile faded slightly, but she didn’t speak, rely watching the man’s reaction.

He furrowed his brow slightly, a hint of confusion in his eyes, as he turned to face Chu Xinran, offering a polite smile.

His tone was distant yet courteous as he asked, “Excuse , miss, are you speaking to ?

If so, I’m sorry, I should introduce myself. I’m Zhou Chong, Chong as in admiration, not the Fang Zhou you ntioned.”

His actions and words were smooth and natural, without a trace of pretense, and even his gaze seed genuinely innocent.

His clear eyes reflected Chu Xinran’s tearful, pitiful expression, yet they remained unruffled, as if viewing a stranger.

This indifference pierced Chu Xinran’s heart like a sharp needle.

A wave of indescribable pain surged through her, shattering her hopes for recognition and concern, leaving only disappointnt and sorrow.

She couldn’t help but reach out, gently shaking his arm, pleading, “How can that be? I can’t be mistaken; you are Fang Zhou!”

As she spoke, a sense of grievance welled up, as if she were subrged in icy water, chilled to the bone.

Yet the villa’s underfloor heating should have prevented any feeling of extre cold.

“Why are you pretending not to know ? Are you still mad at ? I’ll apologize, okay? I’m sorry, I was wrong, I’ll never do it again...”

Her voice trembled with a sob, as if she might burst into tears at any mont.

Her eyes, filled with tears, resembled morning mist or the fog enveloping the villa.

Her frail figure swayed slightly, as if a breeze could topple her.

Her face was as pale as paper, lips colorless and trembling, as if about to shatter.

Her gaze conveyed helplessness and vulnerability, evoking pity.

Onlookers couldn’t help but sigh, “So pitiful!”

She seed like a delicate flower swaying in the wind, needing care and protection.

Chu Xinran looked earnestly at the man, hoping for forgiveness for her past actions.

During Fang Zhou’s disappearance, she truly felt anxiety, unease, regret, and confusion.

She feared he had perished on the grasslands, never to be seen again.

So upon eting him, she hurriedly admitted her mistakes, hoping for forgiveness, or at least recognition.

She couldn’t bear being unrecognized.

But this ti, Chu Xinran was destined for disappointnt.

The man she called Fang Zhou furrowed his brow deeply, forming a pronounced crease.

His gaze turned cold and distant, as if viewing a stranger.

His expression shifted from initial confusion to calm, with a hint of impatience.

He easily shook off Chu Xinran’s hand, the motion fluid and natural, as if they were unrelated.

He stepped back, maintaining distance, watching her warily, a flash of caution in his eyes.

“Sorry, miss, you’ve mistaken for soone else. I don’t know you; we’ve never t.”

His voice was deep and firm, leaving no room for doubt.

The words pierced Chu Xinran’s heart like icy arrows.

She widened her eyes, unable to believe what she heard.

Tears blurred her vision, obscuring the once-familiar face.

She tried to speak, but her throat felt blocked, rendering her voiceless.

Pain and despair surged like a tide, overwhelming her.

Was this man truly her beloved Fang Zhou, or was it all a nightmare?

“I’ll say it again, my na is Zhou Chong. If soone is missing, I can help call the police.”

It was clear he was maintaining basic politeness.

But if the woman persisted, he might soon turn hostile.

His ntion of calling the police hinted at reporting harassnt.

Chu Xinran’s tears finally flowed like a breached dam, each drop a pearl slipping down her cheeks.

She shook her head vigorously, as if trying to shake off her pain and confusion.

“Impossible! This can’t be!” she murmured in shock and disbelief, her voice trembling. “You look almost identical to him, nearly identical, how can you not be him...”

She ntioned “nearly identical” because the man had a tear mole under his eye, which Fang Zhou didn’t.

But in a world of advanced technology, makeup and costic surgery could easily alter appearances; a mole ant little.

The main difference was his voice, deeper than Fang Zhou’s, lacking youthful tones.

But voices could be disguised too.

Chu Xinran remained convinced this man was Fang Zhou.

Yet when she looked into his eyes, she saw undisguised irritation and disdain.

In that mont, it felt like a sharp knife stabbed her heart.

These emotions, like barbed whips, rcilessly lashed her heart repeatedly.

Each lash brought searing pain, almost unbearable.

Chu Xinran felt her heart bleeding, the pain overwhelming.

She instinctively clutched her chest, trying to ease the hurt, but it was futile.

Slowly, she crouched, trembling.

Her silhouette seed so helpless and forlorn, like an abandoned kitten, lonely and pitiful.

For a mont, no one spoke, the hall so silent a pin drop could be heard.

Except for Chu Xinran’s soft sobs.
